This documentary was so well put together and moving. Myself and Jamie just watched as we ate breakfast and both enjoyed it. I cant believe I some how missed it last year. Great job Nick

Man I’m in tears of gratitude. I’m a covid long hauler and reconnecting with my birds has never been so healing and grounding. You have a gift my friend thank you for sharing it with us.
God bless you. It almost seems that these glorious birds were sent to heal and entertain us. Our birds know that they can come and pig out even with a cat's face pressed against the window screen. 🤭🥰 Please take great care. Nature is an essential element to our well-being.
Great video. In December 2008 an oriole was on my bird feeder here in Connecticut. Sent the Audubon Society an email asking what to do as it was clear he did not migrate. They responded that if I fed him oranges and grape jelly all winter he might make it. So I did for three months. He waited for me every morning to bring out his orange. And one day in March he stopped coming. But it really was an amazing experience. Beautiful birds, which clearly you appreciate. Thank you.
Thanks so much for sharing this! It's so fascinating. I've often wondered about birds not migrating, and figured that out of all the millions of birds out there, there had to be some that miss that window or just don't leave for some reason. It's just awesome that he waited outside every day for you, and that you were able to get him through the winter. Such a great story!
Nick, first year ever for me to have Orioles at my feeder. The joy this has given me is a true blessing. Your documentary was just beautiful in every way. Thank you so much.
Keep oranges out and grape jelly til june, then switch to mealworm suet cakes after that so they can feed their babies protein. Theyll remember you and keep stoppin thru!!! (Theyre in the blackbird family so theyre smarties)
Thank you for this amazing documentary. The orioles have been visiting our yard for several years now and just make us so happy. We are also experiencing, for the first time, house wrens. What a blessing. This website is wonderful. Thank so much.
Orioles love giant bird of paradise. I have them planted in my backyard and the Orioles gather almost 2 foot strands of palm fronds from around the neighborhood and weave their nests resembling wicker baskets into the undersides of leaves every year like clockwork. They are very acrobatic and remind me of monkeys.
@@NickSchrader Well done with the telling of this amazing bird..and your love of them is obviously displayed by your care in feeding them. I too, am a "Bird Woman," as my husband calls me. I watch, feed, study and take amateur photos of all of God's creations! I once had the privilege of watching an oriole build it's nest 20 feet above our deck in an overhanging Sycamore tree branch. (You probably already know that they build that hanging nest at the end of a spindley branch to prevent other small animals, i.e., squirrels getting to the nest) With my zoom on my camera, I could see some of my long hairs and strands of blue tarp material woven into the nest. Thanks for doing this video, liked it very much!
Excellent video, well done 👏 Birds are God's beautiful creations remember to honor & thank him. I've discovered birding since 2018 and it gets better every year, the more birds I see and learn about, it's a whole new world that most people never pay attention to!
Oriole ASMR. Your voice is very relaxing. On another note, I have Orioles for the first time this year and found your video to be very helpful, thank you!
Beautiful! Just saw two above my head in a branch today singing. 💜🔥 thank you for taking the time to make this video! Your love for birds is the same passion and love I have for them😊
Thanks for making this Nick! When I had Covid last spring, I was quarantined to my yard in the city and I was so lonely. One day, an oriole landed and I had never seen one before. That bird started my interest in bird watching and I've been waiting all year for them to return. I saw my first one yesterday after a year. I moved out of the city to a place where there are hundreds of bird species. Now I go birding every other day. I'm always in awe. Your documentary is very comforting.
Thanks for watching, Tara! I'm glad you enjoyed it. My story is very similar to yours as far as getting interested in the birds. Take care, and enjoy the birds! The orioles arrived here about 2 weeks ago. So happy!
It's April 2, 2023 and I just heard orioles calling in the trees! Gotta get the grape jelly out now and buy oranges and mealy worms tomorrow! Beautiful video! Birds make me very peaceful and happy.
We are fortunate to have Hooded Orioles. When they bring the babies it is a joy to hear the "Click-click-click" going back and forth. Becomes a cacophony of sound. Love it.
Thank you for sharing this with all of us and the work involved. i can tell you have great love and respect for the Orioles. I have watched it several times and it is so beautiful.
I was blessed to see this also last year for the first time the orioles bring their young to our feeders and also got to see our downy woodpeckers bring their young and got to watch them feed their young at our feeders so awesome to see!!
Good day! So glad you can appreciate these great birds. I was badly injured and found myself home trying to entertain myself. I was feeding hummingbirds when an Oriole showed up. So I found a hummingbird feeder with holes big enough for Orioles to drink from, bought a cool e bucket jelly holder and a pole to put orange halfs on. I find jelly is the big draw for Baltimores and sugar water for the orchard orioles. Im hoping to have better luck with mealworms this year. Last year I had a male that would take his beak and aggressively slide side to side and spill them all over. They are so pretty singers and so calming to me.
I so enjoy sitting on my deck and watching cardinals, robins, blue jays and crows in the morning. I'm moving and will miss this more than my house, just my deck and woods are the loss for me. I'm going to make it a priority to find a similar setting in my new home. The presence of the birds are life and energy giving and they are full of hope and simple pleasures.
Every year they come back, and every day I see them In my yard at my feeders, my day is made. They are truly a source of joy and wonder. I haven’t tried putting out the mealworms yet, because they keep sucking up the jelly till they leave, but after seeing this, I will try. Like you I also have found their nests, and even when the leaves come down, I can’t find their nests. They’re a mysterious wonder that is pure magic
They are beautiful birds with a very beautiful chirp, I appreciate u man, in this world of hate & division, watching & feeding birds is very relaxing & rewarding, thank u for this video
What beautiful birds one of my favorites since I was a child I have watched them I am Mexican from southern Mexico and they nest there they are beautiful we call them calandrias de Castilla
I was so excited to discover your video. I look forward to the orioles returning to our yard each year and it’s wonderful to see someone as excited about them as I am. This was so well done and I’ll be watching it again and again.
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful story. I just spotted a male and female yesterday trying to get into my hummingbird feeder and decided to put out some food for them and so far they are stopping by this morning. I hope you post more videos to learn more about these fascinating birds.
Oh what a wonderful delicate homage to the beauty of our nature. I set up a feeding tray outside my window where I have lived the past twelve years in Costa Rica. The majesty of the birds that come and feed is nothing short of amazing. And I do love those Baltimore Oriels… Thank you for the inspiring video.
Last year I had a group of bright neon orange orioles at my humming bird feeder for a few days. Took my breath away, now I notice them when they come near and always will be in awe of them.
Great video and narration. I've had the pleasant surprise of seeing my first Oriole visit our hummingbird feeder four years ago. Actually a mating pair male and female. They have not missed a beat coming back every year since, one year I even had a juvenile visit a number of times. They are a joy to watch, but I learned early on to remain both quiet and still, otherwise, they would fly off. Very skittish bird. I've lived at my current residence for 16 years and never saw one before until that day four years ago, nor have I ever seen one flying around or standing in a tree. I live in Northern California and welcome not only hummingbirds, Orioles, but an array of songbirds and doves to another bird feeder in the backyard. I tried putting out grape jelly a few times, but as soon as I do the yellow jackets come out and scared the birds away. They would go after the hummingbird feeder as well and I have whacked my fair share of them with a fly swatter. I stopped doing that last year and it's not that bad actually. I put out a yellow jacket trap at the beginning of summer and so do many other neighbors and it seems that has helped keep them at bay. If you don't do anything they will build multiple nests under your roof eves. Anyway, the Oriole is a beautiful bird in light of the fact we don't get that many very colorful birds at my latitude. This year was a down year, I believe I saw only one come by, I heard them in the trees several times, but that was about it. I hope they return next year or maybe their babies will. Thanks again for supporting our winged buddies.
I love everything of this video: the story, the film, the birds, your narration voice, the complementary music, and the peaceful relaxing time I spent here. Thank you!
Love these beautiful birds . They appeared for the 1st time last year. They are here again this year. Your video was very informative and relaxing.Thank you so much.
My mother passed away about a month ago. She so enjoyed watching the Orioles every spring and summer. They returned again last week. My visitors love Welch's grape jam. Rain or sun they consistently show up. I must have a dozen or more each day. Occasionally I get one right at the kitchen sink window ledge so close to watch. OMG a Robin can be territorial. One year I had one at the kitchen window banging on it attacking the Robin reflection. Every morning early it would be there and more during the day.
Beautiful video, Nick. IT's amazing how many quite beautiful and interesting activities has emerged as a result of the pandemia. For me, it's been the creation of a herbarium of wildflowers. (But nothing can replace my love of birding!) Continue on your journey. And I can only hope that you'll continue to share your enthusiasm! Best wishes, from Canada.
I moved to Ohio 19 years ago from the South and my first Spring up North I had an Oriole visit my Hummingbird feeder. I was so in awe with its bright orange color.. i had to find out what type of bird it was. I’ve been feeding them since. I always look forward to their return every year, which is right on April 28th most years. They are frequent visitors and I never tire of seeing them. 😍 Enjoyed this documentary very much! Thank you for sharing!
So pleased to have scrolled passed the many cheesy videos, to finally find yours! My husband and I sat together watching it during our lunch break (in our office) and loved it! You should be proud...it was as good as those from National Geographic and the like. We too, were blessed to have Orioles visit our yard for the first time last year. My husband immediately built an Oriole feeder and we held our breathe and waited. They returned a few times that summer. Just a week ago, we again spotted a pair in our trees. We'd be thrilled to see babies! Watching and hoping...
Lovely documentary. I fell n love with these particular bird a couple of years ago and watched as their family grew and then they left me for there winter flight. I was so heart broken for several weeks. This year waited patiently for their return and indeed they came.. One interesting thing happened a robin decided she wanted to find out what the oriole was eating and now she also eats the grape jelly and she also returned to my yard this year. Oh how a simple bird can heal the soul and bring such happiness. Thank you.
I LUUV this. We’ve been feeding Orioles for the past 3 years and mourn the day when they leave for their long migration. Last year when they brought their chicks along for food, we were horrified to see they were all n]Brown Headed Cowbirds, nest parasite birds. So we are praying this year, they are raising Orioles that we love . . Cowbirds, not so much. Thank you for sharing your talent and love of nature!
Such a cool video, love the narrating. I love all birds including hawks and eagles. The Baltimore Orioles are so so pretty. We live in the country and we feed all the birds
Thank you, you've given me some more options in feeding them. You sure live in a beautiful place. Looks like you have a larger family now. Again thank you for sharing its so well done.
Absolutely enjoyed watching your video, very well made. I ,like you , fell in love with the Orioles in 2018, the year my beloved dog passed away at my feet. It started out with Cardinals, but that year was a very special year because we had a late spring snow and a cold spell , which meant many migrators needed help at the feeders. I even did the meal worms and you are so right, although I never was able to find their nests , the parents brought their young to the source of food late July. It was such an amazing experience. This is another unique year because it has been a very cold spring here. Today , I counted 5 male Baltimore orioles in my backyard tree all there at the same time, and 2 males at the orange station. Incredible. Hope you have another great year of watching the returning birds.
Thanks Nick for a well done labor of love.... I noticed towards the end of your film that mama bird made eye contact with you and seemed to pass on a gracious thank you for feeding her newly hatched family. Thanks again for the inspiration and education.
Watching this video gave me goosebumps. We had the most Orioles this year then ever before. Thank you so much for the best Oriole Video that I've seen.
Excellent, Nick! This is the first time I recall ever seeing any orioles, and your documentary. Has helped me appreciate them even more! Great to storytelling and videography!
What a great little journey you’ve let us in on. I’ve seen orioles only once, during the winter migration, in my parents’ backyard in LaMarque, TX, along the middle Gulf Coast. Never forgot that afternoon-as vivid as the birds’ plummage! Thanks for the joy of remembering again!
What an amazing video! Thank you! They have been visiting the Bird Feeder I got for them and it’s been such an awesome experience to watch them! My first time seeing these beautiful Birds!
Love the video & completely understand "the unique sense of hope and tranquility". I had 11 orioles the first year I put out my feeder here in Pennsylvania. I got lucky. This year, there are less but loved seeing the young ones come. Baltimore Orioles migrate each year vast distances, all the way to Central America. It is VITAL that they have stops along the way to eat, rest, refuel, etc....Thanks for sharing your experience!
Just a few days ago, I saw the bright flash of orange! It was an oriole! Welcome to the cool north! Love these sharp whistlers in the high trees. In the last few years I had hanging an Orioles House a friend made in the garden but the cold winter this year ruined it! Still, the sceleton of it was hanging on one of those flower basket hooks in the yard. As I watched the bird, I saw it flying to that hook and perching on what was left of ruined bird house. And I realized that this bird remembered my little feeder and even recognized it, and went to see if there was anything in it to feed on. As there was nothing it took off..but I could hear the Orioles call from somewhere daily. Now as I saw your video, i put it on hold , went to the supermarket, got orange and jelly, they where out of grape but got apple jelly, came home prepared the Orioles meal , put it out and continued to the finish of your inspiring video! Thank you!
Thank you for watching Eva! They have incredible memories for sure. Each bird has its own unique song, and I hear some of the same birds from last year in my yard.
I spent the Fall and Winter feeding them. 2020 was my first experience with them and they returned in 2021 just before our first snowfall. They bring me such joy!
I was enjoying Orioles high up in the trees at Elephant Rocks as I slowly passed out from heat - a surreal moment. I’m ok - but those birds were mesmerizing!
We live in Folsom, California. East of Sacramento. Every Spring we first hear and then see the gorgeous hooded oriole at our hummingbird feeder and enjoying our loquat trees. I will buy the fruit feeder you suggested from Amazon. I’m pretty sure the squirrels will take control of our deck. Love your video and mutual love for birds and nature! Thanks
I have discovered you, Nick, and I am thoroughly enjoying every minute! So well put together, so moving! And for someone with mobility difficulties, I can't thank you enough for your patience in capturing what I have longed to see and be part of. Your gift is so healing and I can watch you late at night when sleep seems hours away.
I love this! I hope you do a video of this year! I used to get Orioles at our old house, but we built a new house, and I’m trying to attract them here.. this will be our second spring here, and so far nothing yet. I tried last spring too. At our old house they were well established. I rent that house out now and the tenant feeds them still, and they still come.❤️
Beautiful video! We love our orioles too! We’ve been watching the babies come for a couple weeks now. Today 5 orioles showed up all at once and patiently waited their turn at the jelly dish. No fighting. We have 2 dishes out but they chose to be together at one. It was amazing to see! 😊
My daughter use to see the altamira orioles with me. Sadly she past recently when she was 7 months old.. and now every time I see these beautiful birds they seem to remind me of her. So beautiful
So we’ll done, a joy to watch these orioles through your lens and perspective - I’m going to bump up my oriole feeding ideas after watching, hope to draw more into our area.
Persistence feeding of Citrus fruit and jelly kept my first oriels n Robbinsville, NJ in 2022. You have created a great documentary, thank you. Oak trees are so important for food. That is where I spotted the young.
Not only the lovely narration, the music you chose revealed the wonderment of God's beautifully intricate creation. Loved your tips on fresh oranges and jelly casually set on your railing. Thank you 😊

I don’t know why I’m crying but thanks for sharing your experience, it was beautiful.
You are Saint Nick. Bringing the gifts of nature’s as infant and wonders. Very calming. Beautifully done. Thank you for sharing your orioles.
Thanks so much Scott!
This was amazing footage !
Lovely. Just lovely. 🙏
Thank you!
Thank you for your beautiful documentary! I loved it! I’m painting these birds because they are so beautiful ! Thank you so much! God bless you!
Thank you for such a wonderful video so joyous to watch those beautiful birds...I love nature!!
you have the most melodious voice, thank you for sharing your birds, beautiful
A wonderful presentation! Thank you!
Thank you for watching, Shel! They bring so much joy. Glad to hear they are visiting your yard.
What a joyous relationship you have with the birds in your neighborhood, keep filming, I'll keep watching.
This made me so happy you have no idea
So glad to hear that, Monica! Thank you for watching!
Thanks Nick for a well done labor of love.... I noticed towards the end of your film that mama bird made eye contact with you and seemed to pass on a gracious thank you for feeding her newly hatched family. Thanks again for the inspiration and education.
The Baltimore Orioles even migrate to minnesota in spring. They are so pleasant to watch and hear. Great video
Thank you so much for sharing your video.I am very grateful to you. I am in Canada 🇨🇦 and love when my orioles come back from year to year.
Thanks for watching, Cathie!
Watching this video gave me goosebumps. We had the most Orioles this year then ever before. Thank you so much for the best Oriole
Video that I've seen.
Thank you Louise!
@@NickSchrader you are welcome.
Beautifully done🍇🍊🎬🎼
This is the definition of quality.
Thank you!
Excellent, Nick! This is the first time I recall ever seeing any orioles, and your documentary. Has helped me appreciate them even more!
Great to storytelling and videography!
You have a pleasant voice to listen to, and good diction and speed, so that your speech is easy to understand, too.
Thank you for watching Joan!
Absolutely beautifully done! I know this took lots of time and devotion, but so worth it. Thank you for sharing!
Well done! We have purple martins returning every year, and just love their beautiful songs and graceful flights around our backyard.
Excellent!!! Thank you for all you dedicated hard work in covering these amazing birds. Your narration was superb! Thank you!
With the great food you had for them, you can bet they will remember your deck!! Great video! Enjoyed watching these beauties!! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Loved listening & learning of about these birds. Job very well done! If we all stop and listen to nature we can find comfort..
Thanks so much Linda!
Really great piece, mate. Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you brother!
Lovely video of these beautiful Orioles , and interesting information. A pleasure to watch Nick. Thanks for sharing my friend. Enjoyed Irene.💖😍
I was enjoying Orioles high up in the trees at Elephant Rocks as I slowly passed out from heat - a surreal moment. I’m ok - but those birds were mesmerizing!
Thank you for this beautiful footage shared. Absolutely stunning, a thrill to watch.
I rent that house out now and the tenant feeds them still, and they still come.❤️
Great Film man loved the story!!
Thank you 😊
Thank you very much!
I actually was searching for videos on the Baltimore Orioles baseball team and came across this video. Nice little unexpected treasure to find. Beautiful birds.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Nick! I watched this before but am enjoying again today! Great video!
What a beautiful mini documentary, thanks for sharing.
