I’m primarily a guitarist and have a question: with bands like Meshuggah, where the guitars are generally tuned very low, does the bass continue to be an octave lower than the guitar? Or does the bass match the pitch of the guitar to create an even more massive wall of sound?

hi, when the guitars play the 8th string, tuned in F, you can play the song with a 4 string bass, tuning half step up, when they play the 7th string (A#), the bass has to play with the 5th string, ty for the comment!!

Do you tune up 1 semitone or down 11? I've always curious how they tune live. Great cover, sounds awesome. Just saw them live last month, you nailed it.
hi, for this song (and most of them) the tune for 4 string bass is 1 semitone up (F-A#-D#-G#), in the case of 5 strings, one semitone down for the 5th (A#).

hi, yes, there are some models in 5 strings, i dont know if they exist with this pickup configuration tbh, but for sure for PJ/JJ configurations.
awesome cover mate. quick question. To which F note did you tune? the F that's lower than de B on a 5 string base? or the F thats one semi tone higher than then an E standard tuning? also which string guage? thanks
in most Meshuggah songs, the F in the bass is half step up from the standard tuning, but there are some songs from "Inmutable" the bass lower the 5th string to F0. The gauge i use on the Warwick is 40-95 from Ernie Ball. Thanks for the comment!!
