Matt, I'm begging you, put ads on your videos. You're content is too well done to leave that money on the table, and in my experience, youtube consumers are used to it and actually like when they see ads on their favorite creator's videos because they feel like they are supporting them by watching it. Shit, I have friends who put 4-5 midrolls on a 12 minute video and it doesn't even affect their average view duration. I totally respect what you are doing in trying to keep it ad free, and I like the novelty of it... but you are definitely a creator that deserves to be compensated for you work... and adsense is the easiest and most straight forward way to do so. Just my 2c... I appreciate ya either way... be well my friend
I'd like to say I also think that way. i didnt even realize that there's no ads until Matt say it on the video. And also I won't mind to take some second or minutes to appreciate your whole work in every video.. I'd support if you need to put some ads. But I realize that your team also have a good reason, not to putting ads, I also appreciate that wise decision
Only ever made one new years resolution, and I made it stick: seeing my grandparents often as I can and at least once a month. My grandpa wrote his memoir after turning 75. I distinctly remember reading it for the first time. It was before I read anything. I started reading my grandpa's memoir, thinking I'd read a page or two, before I found I couldn't stop. I read the whole thing straight through, then I re-read it. And thereafter I made it my new year resolution to see my grandparents way more. To soak up their knowledge, their experience, their thoughts, their opinions and yes, their recipes. It was a life-changing experience reading my grandpa's memoir. My grandma passed away only a few months back. I would have known her far less if it weren't for that new years resolution. I'm looking forward to more time with my grandpa though. He turns 93 on January 9! Such a legend!
wow absoloutley beautiful! i only wish my grandparents were alive , could've learned so much from them.. but i still have my parents so there is a chance!
I spent a lot of time with my grandma as a kid. She was the person that made me fall in love with Munich. I was fascinated with how open she was towards tech despite her age. She loved to travel, she was so open to totally foreign people and that really stuck with me. I absolutely love her and I'm so thankful for the opportunity of getting to know her in such a way. She now suffers from dementia and is a completely different person. But I remember an treasure her the way she used to be. So much I learned from her. Now I want to spend time with my grandpa. He was born in 1933 in Munich and remembers World War 2. I love talking to him about that topic because he just got so many interesting stories to tell. I wanna hear them and as long as I have the opportunity to do so.
@@alexthurner43 my grandma had a German background, Sudholz was her family name. My grandpa has a danish background, hence my family name Mariager. Of all the stories my grandparents told me, none stood out more than them being called "hun"... a type of vilification, or discrimination, or isolation, before, during and after WWII. I could tell they were still hurt by that which they experienced. No wonder too. They must have felt incredibly lonely at times. Small towns in Victoria are isolated today, let alone pre-modern telecommunications. The great irony and outrage really is my grandma's uncle, Rhinehart Grohs fought and died for Australia in WWI. Yet that sacrifice in her family wasn't seemingly enough for society to question their loyalty and worth really. It's a story that certainly motivates me today to not fall in to the same trap of judging a people, whether by race or religion, on the actions of an individual, or group even that shares the same rale or religion. Rather, to judge people on the content of their own character. But all this started from listening to the stories of my grandparents.
My resolutio is to learn relugious education for an relugious olympics and this event hapens 28 january so i must learn a 20 pages a day. PS sory for bad English is not my native landguage

This videos makes me feel very motivated, the past is what it is and the present is the only thing that i can change... My resolutions for this year: -Keep the gym going (4x times per week) -Learn a new language (French) -Start my day at 5:00 am (Defeat procrastination) -Stop complaining and start instead seeing opportunities. Happy new year everyone and good luck with you're resolutions!
Sooo how are these going? They are all massive habits to develop and I'd personally be surprised if you got started on, and have kept consistent, with any of those if you tried to tackle them at the same time.
My late resolution for rest of 2019: - Meditate at least 10 minutes every day - Give up drinking - 10 minute workout at home everyday - Wake up 6am everyday - Shower every day before bed - Talk to myself about my day for 10-15 minutes - Decrease my phone screentime - Post a photo a week on my photography page I know these are a lot of resolutions and I'm trying to adapt one thing at a time and not all of them at once. - I have not consumed a single drop of alcohol since mid January. I was never addicted to it so it was easy for me to give it up. - I started meditating 2 weeks ago and tried not to skip a day. I skipped two. Trying to adhere to doing it everyday - Have started talking about my day to myself just to let it out. Not consistent but trying to be. Yet to work on everything else. Waking up early is the hardest I believe.
I have created a 6months challenge for myself, I will try to follow the same routine for the next 6 months. You motivated me man, ever since I saw your videos 2 months ago I started dreaming again. The 10 challenges are the following: 1. Practice Minimalism 2. Be Organize 3. Work out 4. Read All the books I bought for the last 5 years (23 in total) 5. Quit Smoking and Vaping 6. Sacrifice Sleep/Rest (6-7 hours a day is fine) 7. Quit/minimize social media 8. Self Study Videography/photography 9. Temporairily cut all the communications from my friends 10. Do this consistently So far, I stop vaping and smoking for a month now. My room was organize and neat for 2 months now. I quit facebook for atleast 2 months now. It is very difficult but I know ro myself that it is not impossible. Goodluck to me!
I wish you success man. You can do it. And I'll recommend you sleep more, as the other dude says, it has a lot of benefits. You should check John Fish yt channel, he's a Harvard student and he do a lot of things, and even with that, he sleeps 8-9 hours, he talks about how sleeping good gives him the energy to accomplish more things with less time. Good luck man 💪
I agree with the people above. But cutting communications with friends? I would not do that. You need to keep the good people in your life. They are good for your mental health, and other things.
Thank you so much guys for putting your input to my 6monthschallege stuff. You definitely are correct I also checked Matt Walker and John Fish for those people who recommended it to me. I totally agree but I want to try to stick with these challenges for 6 months. And for the friends it’s just temporary bro😊
I wrote my resolution earlier today in my daily journal. To read more, to draw more, and to always do my homework. After watching this video, I was enlightened by the thought that change to it had to be made, so I did. 30 minutes of drawing everyday, reading one book a month, and to always do my homework beforehand. I'm feeling confident. Thank you.
I'm sure that this will work enormously well for you and you probably already know this but maybe try getting an app for meeting new people like TANDEM or Heck even, Tinder lol. Or join Meet Up groups on facebook. It will make this resolution more worthwhile.
I think the most powerful part for me is "I kept failing because I kept trying!" Inspirational as always! Our moto of the new year resolution is find something couples passion and the want to drive *Grit as on the TED Talk! The most important is to ensure you remain your own idol and hero and be a better version of yourself as opposed to comparing yourself against today epidemic of social media perfection! Thank you so much for sharing this video...hope what we put out tomorrow will be half as inspiring! Happy New Year to all the beautiful people!
Wasn't it "I kept failing because I kept trying" That makes it even more powerfull. But I must say I egree with the other things you're saying. Happy New Year!
This year I’m moving to New York, actually in a week to go to school. Last year my resolution was to finally move out and start life on my own! I’m hoping to make more music this year and help more people this year than I did last💛
Matt, I've discovered your channel 2 weeks ago. Since this time you helped me to change my mind to "hey, maybe life doesn't suck that much?" I just want to say thank you, cause you are inspiring me to change my life in the good direction :)!
Hey Matt Great video! My new year is ALL change. I am 52 years old and my husband and I are divorcing after 30 years - he is leaving all his family to go live in Thailand and I have to get a full time job, I have been a teaching assistant for 17 years and finding work that will cover my costs is not going well (even after 8 months). I am going to be sorting out my finances for the first time ever and would like to lose 5 stones in weight - a crazy stuff . Here is to 2019 being my year to shine xx
What you could also do, is get a blood test to check your cholesterol etc and use that as a measurement of health. I remained the same weight as before, but apparently, my blood test (a year later) showed massive improvement. I am skinny fat, so this was such a boost to know that even though my weight is the same, something did change internally :) Happy New Year!
Stretching every day is my 2021 resolution. My 2020 resolution was to get my middle splits, but I didn't plan the how, and I never got started because a year sounded like too long. This year I'm choosing to prioritize the process rather than the goal. Also, I started yesterday, on December 27th because it's never too early and it's never too late. The best time to start is NOW
My new habit is getting up every other day at 5am and going for a run. It’s so peaceful and quiet and nobody is about. When I got back and started driving to work, I already felt I accomplished something and I felt amazing. I’d definitely recommend my new habit to anyone!
I watched this video last year...and it works marvel, I archive a lot of things even with the pandemic. I rewatch it again before 2021 as a reminder. Thank you Matt. YOU ARE AMAZING!
I just read this sentence somewhere? "We are what we repeatedly do." Yikes ! 2018 I have been on my smartphone and tablet for hours per day. No More !! I want my life to be more than sitting in my apartment alone with my tech devices. Thank You for this video.
Hearing you calmly build up your points instead of shouting it out like a lot of motivational speakers or coaches seem to do - the message really gets across on a different level. Thank you!
One of my goals is to only watch UA-cam videos I will remember in the next 3 hours and I am planning to bump it up to 1 day. Hopefully this will limit the amount of bad/valueless videos I watch. for example I will definitely remeber this one.
You could also add to this by taking notes on the videos. One of my biggest problems is that I consume a lot of valuable and knowledgeable content but because I consume so much of it, I end up forgetting most of it since I don't take steps to remember or apply it. One of my 2019 goals is to be more intentional with what I consume whether that be books or UA-cam videos, meaning I should consume less content and then apply it.
Try making a Playlist and putting all the videos you watch into the playlist, after a week look in the playlist and see a common genre of valueless videos (videos you can't remember when looking at the playlist) and stop watching those. It worked for me, at least.
This comment is very sweet of you and it's very commendable. I know a lot of times when I resolve not to watch youtube videos in general and they end up not working, lol. Thanks to your comment, I will narrow down the type of youtube vids I will watch as getting rid of UA-cam vids as a whole is just not realistic.
One of the most helpful things I learnt about resolutions was this: unless it is scheduled, it won't get done. It taught me to live in my calendar and divide up my day into 30minute segments where I can single task and get things done. Even if it's a slot to unwind and catch up on YT subscriptions.
Man, your channel was one of the most things I'm really grateful from 2018. I don't believe in new year's resolutions anymore. The only time change that I pay attention is the difference between now and future. But your tips is something really good to keep. "Keep on failing, because if you are failing, is 'cause you are trying".
David Goggins talks beautifully about this. Best of all, he talks about how many times he quit. He doesn't have a magic story of making a resolution for a goal and never looking back. He has a low point that he never goes back to, but with every step forward he had obstacles that knocked him back and it's the failures I really admire. I am going to commit to studying and writing more consistently this year
Matt, I subscribed to your videos just a couple of months ago. It has been life-changing. The majority of 2018 has been absolutely terrible for me and I really didn’t think the end of it would be any better. I started watching your videos and listening to your podcasts. I bought Atomic Habits by James Clear after listening to your interview. For the past few months, I have been going to the gym consistently, decluttering my entire home and reading more. I keep bringing these good habits into my life one after the other, like a ripple effect. My head feels so much clearer after getting rid of so many things (mental and physical) that were weighing me down. I feel more intentional in the direction I’d like to head in and I'm so excited to see what's coming! I sincerely thank you for all that you’ve done Matt. Happy New Years! 🎊
wow, so beautiful! thank you for sharing your story! i just have a question, if i start doing a habit, how long should i keep doing it before introducing another one without messing them up and quitting in the process? i used to do some healthy habits like meditation and exercise but by just slipping up one day it all came down on me :(
@@klutz3955 I guess my advice would be to first master a current habit. Once it becomes easy and almost second nature, then you can go and take on a different habit. Also don't just give up because you missed one day, and don't let yourself miss more than one or two times as Matt says, otherwise it's a downward spiral from there. Hope this was helpful :)
Returning to this video at the end of 2020! After this hell of a year, I've learned a lot and I'm ready to go! Been watching this channel for 2 years strong! Thanks Matt!
I have two resolutions which I've now decided to minimize into "smaller goals". My first was to start/adapt to a minimalist lifestyle, which I've minimized to "get rid of one box of unused items per month" so I don't get too overwhelmed by a giant sweep. Additionally, I'm doing to do the "one book per month". Every year, I tell myself I'm going to read more (especially since I have an entire bookshelf of unread novels). Now that I want to begin a minimalist lifestyle, I can start to steadily donate those books that I read and reduce clutter. I'm VERY excited to stick to these resolutions and I thank your channel for inspiring me.
What Nate Green said on that podcast is really wise. I heard that principle in a TED Talk of a guy called Steve Munier or something like that. He always started with something really little, but he focused on the fact that doing something is better that doing nothing, doing emphasis on the marginal change that took him from doing nothing to doing something. I really recommend that talk, It took me from being a lazy student to being and Econ student at Yale.
An additional tip for fellow resolution-ers: I've noticed (and I think it's been studied) but using positive statements/goals is more effective than a negative one. This really helps me stick to goals, keeps me from thinking about the negative action, and I'm less discouraged to quit if I slip up. I'll say "Remember my house keys each morning" and not "Don't forget my keys in the morning." Instead of saying "stop drinking sugary drinks" I'll say "replace sugary drinks (with Seltzer or kombucha)." Obviously this isn't needed/necessary, the video was awesome, but I can't help but spread a tip I loved getting myself!! Again, love the videos. I especially loved the reminder about achievable goals and your confidence level, it was a much needed one!!
I’ve also always been a small guy who always failed to build muscle. I’ve been hitting the gym and eating right for about two months now, and I’m up 10 lbs! I hope to keep this up all year.
For the past one month, I am wired to all your content and it's so mellow. I am shaping my life for the days to come and I was going through a phase, where I didn't commit to any productive activity, getting myself too much into the Internet. I feel things are better. Getting that encouragement to digital detox, slapped along with the ideas of minimalism, gave me more time to invest on my thoughts and actions. I thank you because of your content I may not have reached here.
Koz I’m 27 and I’ve been doing it for about 10 years now and my advise to start would be don’t think too much about it. Don’t over complicate it, just get yourself in the gym and start. Most importantly ENJOY IT. If you can get yourself in the gym 3 days a week, then there are loads of weekly workouts on UA-cam you can do. Almost any of them will be fine, but the main thing to do is start. Too many people think “we’ll X guy said I should do this, but Y guy said to that” it’s all fine margins, as long as you put a shift in, you’ll be fine :)
Koz kaizen by mike farr, Omar isuf, and Bart kwan have some free programs and canditos 6 week linear program is free and they’re both good places to start!
2018 was a great year with a lot of change for me. In February I had a lot of free time after my university exams. Bored and tired of my unorganized life I started by getting a Skillshare subscription and work my way through a ton of organization courses and motivation courses. I restructured and reorganized my whole life. I also started to read books (never read before besides school books) about personal development and workflow. I started using lists and summarized my week in a diary. I learned multiple techniques to enhance my produtivity and also started to meditate daily. I discovered your channel and learned more about being a minimalist what is really nice. I distanced myself from smartphones and distractions, wrote down my goals and focused more on a few important things. I also lived for 4 months in Finland at the end of the year. There I learned a lot about myself and I earned incredible life experiences. Not everything went perfect or is perfect now. I wasn`t able to hold every habit I had but I feel really good and I think I did a huge step in 2018 and I can`t wait to see what 2019 is going to happen. Happy new year everybody and a successful 2019
Just remember even past those 30 days, it still takes some effort to stick with them. Especially if you become stressed or overwhelmed, it can be easy to fall off the wagon. So, it is important to remind yourself that missing one day does not equal failure, just make sure that one day doesn't turn into 20 or 30 days.
Hi Matt, I'm writing to you to thank you, because of you and the simplicity and the logic in your content, I was able to quit smoking hash and cigarettes, settle a good morning routine in which I run few kilometers and eat healthy. And now I'm just enjoying my daily life more and feeling more alive than ever ! There's always hope, but it's up to every individual to acknowledge that change comes step by step and it needs discipline, persistence, and GRIT ! Thank you again !
If you don't right it down, it's not real. If you've ever attended a 12 step program (or volunteered for one) this is key to recovery. When we write something down, it becomes truth. And truth, is a powerful motivator. I've never accomplished any of the goals I failed to write down.
I'm only 22 I've been fighting depression for so many years and this message is so important to me. It even got me tearing up a bit. I'm an aspiring graphic designer, I love art and I love creating, but unfortunately, because of this disgraceful illness having the motivation to do things is not my strongest trait. I lost a lot of good opportunities because of it. Listening to that podcast and making my new habits "ridiculously easy" to stick is what's helping me change my life, one step at a time. When you're mentally sick and getting out of bed seems impossible enough, the only way out really is to make things as simple as possible, and build up discipline, at your own pace. Your content is really inspiring, it's how I dived deeper into minimalism, and that has been helping me get out of this self sabotaging cycle, to really improve my life for the first time in years. Nice work Matt, hope you continue your journey as a creator, always. Best regards to you and your family xx
this year I sorted my resolutions/goals by personal priorities - so if mental health is a priority, I write down actionable steps like "keep the weekends free". Every month, I'll now go to my priorities and formulate small goals for the month based on all of my priorities and keep in mind my university workload or other circumstances. Then I check in at the end of the month and formulate the next month's goals. This way, I feel like I can continue to make those small changes that hopefully will add up to big improvements by the end of the year!
You’ve motivated me to make a change in my life starting with minimalism. Keeping track of where I put my resources etc. I’m starting goals with meals, workouts, finances, & more. I’ve started organizing my apartment & reducing clutter. I’m excited for 2019 & shoutout goes to you Matt! Love your channel!!
Hey Matt, First of all Happy New Year! A small list for the coming year that I've scribbled out: 1. Exercise every day 2. Read for 60 mins a day 3. Speak your truth 4. Delete dream stealers from your life 5. Be around art + nature often 6. Do things that I'm scared of 7. Be the Kindest 8. Learn something new
I love this "letter of forgiveness" to oneself. My clients often approach making goals with a lot of shame. So well -thought- out S.M.A.R.T. goals, grit, and self -compassion are such an important recipe. I so appreciate your ideas here. All the best, Matt! ~Michele
Thanks Matt, I definitely needed the reminder of grit. 😁 Since, I changed and tried so many things last year without sticking to a single one and ended up not achieving the success I want. This year I aim to just focus on school and growing online. No more jumping for different things and letting the past hold me back. I hope everyone else got heaps out of this video 😄
Ironically, one of the resolutions that I did that lasted was I wanted to make sure I made my bed every single day...and in turn, it caused me to always have my place nice and tidy. Something as simple as making my bed gave me clarity and helped me stay focused. Luckily, within that year, I also finished my Master's Degree. So I guess small goals do produce awesome outcomes. Love your videos, Matt. Happy New Year!
Thank you so much, it brought tears to my eyes. I started working out last year and managed to go three times a week for half a year and lost 8 kilos, but then gave up. Then there was this depressing period. It’s not easy to stick to the routine, it’s hard and frustrating most of the time. Your videos really inspire me to do more. I started going to the gym again. I read 4 books in last two months. I will watch your video every day to remind myself of being the best version of me. Wish me luck.
@@WarfareJournal Great! My business has grown a lot, I've read more books than I thought I would this year and despite COVID changing travel plans, this year has been a good one for my long-term goals.
Since I’ve already been working on the long-haul goals, my resolution this year was very small: get rid of 15 items a day for all of January. To keep myself accountable, I’ve been posting my progress online, and some of my friends will be joining me!
*Conditions are never perfect. 'Someday' is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. If it's important to you and you want to do it 'eventually,' just do it and correct course along the way. :)*
Same here! Hahaha, we should connect sometime bro, been watching you for 2+ years and I made my first $1.1m at 15 years old + met Gary V in his office this July, if you need proof my IG is @rdify, anyways keep up the content man!
I took notes because this video is amazing! I have to be honest I want more than anything to establish goals. Real and attainable goals but right now I'm going through chemo and it makes me feel like my life is on hold and I HATE that feeling! I want to sit down and plan out 30 days but I never know how I'm going to feel after treatment. What side effects are going to mess with me this time? Am I going to be sleeping 16 hours a day? How do I work full time and yet have time for self care and goals? My treatment ends mid March but I don't want to be "in limbo" until then. I'm afraid that I'll continue to be in chemo mode even after it's done. My apologies for whining I just feel that these things you've talked about are so true and real I don't want to mess them up and be a disappointment. Thank you for sharing and Happy New Year! Thanks for letting me vent too! 😊😊
I think just watching his video is obtaining a goal of you. I can’t imagine how exhausted and sick you feel, but to watch something for 8 minutes - with all you are going through - success. :)
I have been watching your vlogs for quite awhile now. You are a great storyteller and I do admire everything that you are saying. It opened a lot of realizations and had me thinking about embracing being a minimalist. I started to declutter my room and for weeks now, I am totally fine not having most of the things that I thought was essential in my life. Instead of focusing of acquiring new stuff, I reacquainted myself to have a quality time with my family especially to my growing nieces and nephew. I could say I am more happier now. At this moment, I was thinking about redoing my wardrobe. Wish me luck. And I am very grateful to have watched your vlogs. Thank you for the inspiration. - Mark from the Philippines 🇵🇭
My first new year's resolution is simple, but I figure it in itself will accomplish more goals than most. I'm going to plan my days the night before, and make each task that I plan a must do, not a "goal". I plan to become a freelance web developer, and I have a long way to go, but I want to plan my days so I can start making the progress that I need. My second resolution is to start getting into minimalism. I've started decluttering, and I love how it feels. I want to decrease my belongings to the point where I'm not stressed about them, and I can truly focus on the greatest things in life. Happy new year!
I will read a book a week. I will create yt channel. I will wake up 5:30 am every day. I will do cold showers every day. I will workout 5 times a week. I will meditate daily. I will learn backflip. I will master handstand push ups. I will learn to cook a meal a week. I will become the best version of myself. 2019. will be the best year of my life. Good luck to all of you guys 🙏🔥 Btw, great vid 💪
Man , I don't want to discourage you but you are setting yourself up to failure. You will be burned out my day 12. I hope I'm wrong and you gonna push through but I've tried the same. Nevertheless good luck and happy new year !
@@Honeynutification possibly, I've tried it a few times and failed after maybe 5 seconds of pure cold water only :( I just don't no how it's possible but I want to learn.
Working out 3x a week , going back to school and paying off 2 of my 6 student loans are my some of my goals for this year! The letter of forgiveness sounds amazing! I think I’m going to do that. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
Good for you! I did this last year and finally used up the last of my lotions/hair products/body washes/etc a month ago. I *still* have makeup for dayyyyys. It crazy how much we buy and don't realize it. I saved so much money! Added that $ to my travel funds. Stick to your plan. It's totally worth it. 💖
eating healthier is a big one for me this year. i've tried many times to make going to the gym a habit but fail to see the results i wanted even when i was doing it because of my diet. i'm shrinking this goal down to just this upcoming spring semester of college so i can really focus on shopping better, cooking more, and eating out less
My goal for the year is to lose 10 pounds a month until my birthday. I'm doing that little check mark system like you had on your fridge for numbers of 1 hour walks I complete with a goal of 5 per week. Also drinking a gallon of water a day is part of that list. I'm trying to be as specific as possible for my resolution this year because I felt much better before I started going back to school when I weighed less.
Like the person in the video said. From 1 to 10 how likely do you think you'll be able to lose 10 pounds a month. 10 pounds a month is a lot of weight and its not really healthy to lose that much in little time. It could also fail because you're demanding too much from yourself. I would start with a lower goal and bring it up gradually. Goodluck!
@@Lenierx I feel that for me it is doable. I have a large amount of muscle and have consistently lost like that before. I just let my diet get away from me. That and I also let my water consumption go way down as well and I replaced it with more calories. I'm definitely at a solid 9 that I can do this. Thanks for the input and encouragement! 😊
I admire your ambition! Maybe for you 10lbs/month is doable, but don't be surprised if it doesn't happen. That is a LOT of weight to lose especially if you're only walking. Please don't lower your calories drastically and be safe about it!
@@mckenziecooper70 Thanks for the input! Trust me, I'm cutting my calories back to just under what my TDEE is. I just really let my diet go during school. As far as walking goes, it will eventually evolve into jogging then running. I'm also maintaining my weight lifting schedule. I'm on break right now so I've been trying to go through the first 30 days like Matt has discussed by working everything into the time frame that I would be at school/work/studying. Thanks again for the input and concern! Love Matt's community! ❤️
I read “miracle morning millionaires” this year, and for about a month, I was consistently getting up before 6 am and getting started with my day by doing something productive, whether that was going on the treadmill for my run, cleaning up the house, or working on my online classes. I’ve dropped the habit, and I MISS IT. I don’t feel productive anymore. I stopped reading and started back on my endless scrolling of Instagram and FB. So I will be deleting apps that I waste time on and I’ll work harder to make better use of my mornings!!
Matt, as a subscriber (and content creator myself) who loves your work and the quality of your content, I may be speaking for myself only here, but I really wouldn't mind if you had ads on your videos (alongside your patreon). I understand how much time and effort it requires to produce the great quality content that you do. It's only fair that you get paid fairly for it.
This may not be a resolution, but more like a habit that stuck. About 2 months ago, every night before a school day, I’m 15 by the way, I began writing a small list of things that I wanted to get done the following morning... as; clean your room, remember this, remember that, or just doing my lunchbox. This has helped me a lot just getting the most out of my day not leaving anything behind, and I felt like shearing it.
All of these videos from Matt, help me out to improve almost everything, my workouts routines, my study time, and of course to create new strategies to feel much better with my self. Thank you so much.
I have been working on my minimalist lifestyle changes and I’m happy to say that it’s going great for me! Even deeper than just the stuff, my personal life if changing for the better as well
the things i’m GOING to do are: •wake up at 6:30 or before every day. i used to just do that on weekdays & give myself a break on weekends but that made it harder! so it’s every day from now on. •read a book every 2-3 weeks. i don’t read enough! •read my Bible daily. •& journal in the mornings! thanks for the encouragement! it helps!!
Hi Matt! Happy new year. I was always frustrated because I couldn't find the time to focus on my projects. Then I found your video about the 30 days without social networks experiment. I was never a big consumer of SNS but I was curious so I decided to give it a try, just to see the impact it could have on my life. In fact, it was huge :) In 30 days, I felt more focused, found more time for myself and finished one of my project! We think that we don't use a lot of SNS but in fact we think a lot about unnecessary stuff coming from them (notifications, ..). because of that, we are not 100% dedicated on our tasks and we go check the SNS then we need 5-10 min to refocus on our task. what a waste of time it is! and this need to check SNS also often comes from hidden frustrations. so doing this experiment allowed me to understand better myself, find time for what matters and helped me to be more productive. so thx a lot for it!

I appreciate ya either way... be well my friend
defo agreed!
@Fischpüree shut the fuck up
I'd like to say I also think that way. i didnt even realize that there's no ads until Matt say it on the video.
And also I won't mind to take some second or minutes to appreciate your whole work in every video..
I'd support if you need to put some ads. But I realize that your team also have a good reason, not to putting ads,
I also appreciate that wise decision
i agreed, a little ads won't hurt

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Sooo how are these going? They are all massive habits to develop and I'd personally be surprised if you got started on, and have kept consistent, with any of those if you tried to tackle them at the same time.

My late resolution for rest of 2019:
- Meditate at least 10 minutes every day
- Give up drinking
- 10 minute workout at home everyday
- Wake up 6am everyday
- Shower every day before bed
- Talk to myself about my day for 10-15 minutes
- Decrease my phone screentime
- Post a photo a week on my photography page
I know these are a lot of resolutions and I'm trying to adapt one thing at a time and not all of them at once.
- I have not consumed a single drop of alcohol since mid January. I was never addicted to it so it was easy for me to give it up.
- I started meditating 2 weeks ago and tried not to skip a day. I skipped two. Trying to adhere to doing it everyday
- Have started talking about my day to myself just to let it out. Not consistent but trying to be.
Yet to work on everything else. Waking up early is the hardest I believe.
The word i choose for 2019 is *consistency*

I have created a 6months challenge for myself, I will try to follow the same routine for the next 6 months. You motivated me man, ever since I saw your videos 2 months ago I started dreaming again. The 10 challenges are the following:
1. Practice Minimalism
2. Be Organize
3. Work out
4. Read All the books I bought for the last 5 years (23 in total)
5. Quit Smoking and Vaping
6. Sacrifice Sleep/Rest (6-7 hours a day is fine)
7. Quit/minimize social media
8. Self Study Videography/photography
9. Temporairily cut all the communications from my friends
10. Do this consistently
So far, I stop vaping and smoking for a month now. My room was organize and neat for 2 months now. I quit facebook for atleast 2 months now. It is very difficult but I know ro myself that it is not impossible. Goodluck to me!
TheMarcusChannel Everything good apart from sleeping more, I suggest reading a book Why we sleep by Matthew Walker. Sleep has enormous benefits :)
Thank you.

The most important is to ensure you remain your own idol and hero and be a better version of yourself as opposed to comparing yourself against today epidemic of social media perfection! Hey Matt
Great video!
Wishing 2019 has in store - good things for u..Happy New Year !

The best time to start is NOW
Gonna stop drinking in 2019, noticed my mood and motivation and overall attitude improve when ive laid off the booze for a few days
I will try too. Damn dont use word "try".
Derek Wilson yes! Go for it!
Great start for 2019..!
im gonna increase my drinking.l dont drink enough.i just started drinking wine a few months ago it really helps me sleep at night
That's a great goal! Hope you can stick to it and get that control over your habit back!
My new habit is getting up every other day at 5am and going for a run. It’s so peaceful and quiet and nobody is about. When I got back and started driving to work, I already felt I accomplished something and I felt amazing. I’d definitely recommend my new habit to anyone!
It's all about balance and the marathon not the sprint! I love that perspective.🙌
I watched this video last year...and it works marvel, I archive a lot of things even with the pandemic. I rewatch it again before 2021 as a reminder. Thank you Matt. YOU ARE AMAZING!
I just read this sentence somewhere? "We are what we repeatedly do."
Yikes ! 2018 I have been on my smartphone and tablet for hours per day. No More !! I want my life to be more than sitting in my apartment alone with my tech devices.
Thank You for this video.
R J I felt the same way. It’s been a little over 2 months since I deleted every social media/time passing app on my phone and I am feeling great!
That's Tim Ferriss quoting Socrates, I believe. Also Scott Belski quoting Socrates. Pretty much everyone quotes that guy!
Thats a good one! shold I put on practice too when I think about the amount of time that I expend watching valueless videos too. :-)
The amount of videos we spend watching stuff we barely remember just to pass time or procastinate .... ugh
Hey, I'm from Brazil🇧🇷 and I love your channel. I have been leaning English watching your video. You're really good at what you do.
haha, me too :D
Girl, me too!!! I'm actually thinking about using Matt's videos in some of my classes! The material in this channel is incredibly amazing!
To be honest, since 14 most of my goals have been accomplished each year because I already knew this!
Weird flex but ok
@@jacobsmith9680 haha wasn't so much a flex as a compliment on the importance of his points made in the video.
AussieMoneyMan Well done man! All the best for 2019.
Whincup Thank you and likewise!
@@AussieMoneyMan Just curios - What kind of goals did you accomplish/ what are your goals for 2019?
Hope this was helpful :)
that’s amazing dude:))

I'll say "Remember my house keys each morning" and not "Don't forget my keys in the morning." Instead of saying "stop drinking sugary drinks" I'll say "replace sugary drinks (with Seltzer or kombucha)."
Obviously this isn't needed/necessary, the video was awesome, but I can't help but spread a tip I loved getting myself!!
Andrew Keep working on you! You already made it 2 months.
Ive been to gym for about 8 months now. So gonna bulk this year and track my macros .
I'm 18 and I dont know what would be a good workout to start with?
Koz I’m 27 and I’ve been doing it for about 10 years now and my advise to start would be don’t think too much about it. Don’t over complicate it, just get yourself in the gym and start. Most importantly ENJOY IT.
If you can get yourself in the gym 3 days a week, then there are loads of weekly workouts on UA-cam you can do. Almost any of them will be fine, but the main thing to do is start.
Too many people think “we’ll X guy said I should do this, but Y guy said to that” it’s all fine margins, as long as you put a shift in, you’ll be fine :)

HABITS = AUTOMATED SYSTEM I loved that point! It's just getting past those first 30 days. 🙈
Yours is my favorite channel I've come across in 2018. Your videos are chock-full of insight and actual actionable advice. Enjoy your New Years man!
this year I sorted my resolutions/goals by personal priorities - so if mental health is a priority, I write down actionable steps like "keep the weekends free".
Hey Matt,
First of all Happy New Year!
A small list for the coming year that I've scribbled out:
1. Exercise every day
2. Read for 60 mins a day
3. Speak your truth
4. Delete dream stealers from your life
5. Be around art + nature often
6. Do things that I'm scared of
7. Be the Kindest
8. Learn something new

Thanks Matt, I definitely needed the reminder of grit. 😁
Since, I changed and tried so many things last year without sticking to a single one and ended up not achieving the success I want.
This year I aim to just focus on school and growing online.
No more jumping for different things and letting the past hold me back.
I hope everyone else got heaps out of this video 😄
Damn it’s gonna be 2020 in half an hour guys wish me luck and good luck to you all!
Hey!!!!
Happy new year!
Did ya enjoy the transition ?^^
Ironically, one of the resolutions that I did that lasted was I wanted to make sure I made my bed every single day...and in turn, it caused me to always have my place nice and tidy. Something as simple as making my bed gave me clarity and helped me stay focused. Luckily, within that year, I also finished my Master's Degree. So I guess small goals do produce awesome outcomes. Love your videos, Matt. Happy New Year!

I don´t know why, this video made me cry...also made me ready for changes...thank you Matt.
I will choose my youtube content more wisely, and this will save me from binging youtube videos instead of doing what I am supposed to do.
Here on 31st December 2019 - ready for new decade of new challenges and goals 🥳💪🏼
How did it go?
@@WarfareJournal Great! My business has grown a lot, I've read more books than I thought I would this year and despite COVID changing travel plans, this year has been a good one for my long-term goals.
There’s so much quality in each video of yours. The words of advice to share are always a pressure to hear. Thank you!

Nice
Dylan Murphy hahaha agreed
Dylan Murphy iyessss
Since I’ve already been working on the long-haul goals, my resolution this year was very small: get rid of 15 items a day for all of January. To keep myself accountable, I’ve been posting my progress online, and some of my friends will be joining me!
*Conditions are never perfect. 'Someday' is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. If it's important to you and you want to do it 'eventually,' just do it and correct course along the way. :)*

I’ve had no motivation and have fallen into a depression for the past two weeks. This video changed that. Thank you, thank you so much

Same here! Hahaha, we should connect sometime bro, been watching you for 2+ years and I made my first $1.1m at 15 years old + met Gary V in his office this July, if you need proof my IG is @rdify, anyways keep up the content man!
My new word for this year is creativity. By finding a way to be creative i can express myself in multiple ways vs just one way.
Wow! Hope you are recovering well :)

That's it! I'm finally gonna finish learning Turkish! I'm gonna start thinking of some small milestone goals, but I'm thinking 2 chapters every week.
Jay & Rengin iyi şanslar! good luck!
Good luck to all of you guys 🙏🔥

The Cold Shower to do part will be challenging.

I like the approach of shrinking vs getting all crazy then failing. I just did that. Thank you! Great video.
Quality advice! Thank you for this!
Working out 3x a week , going back to school and paying off 2 of my 6 student loans are my some of my goals for this year! The letter of forgiveness sounds amazing! I think I’m going to do that. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
I'm addicted to shopping. This year I decided not to shop anything exept for food. (Yes, I have enough cosmetics and toiletries for whole year...)
@Improve Now Pat I hope so :)
Wonderful for you! You can do it!!
OH, this is a good one. I need an update on this resolution and how you managed to keep it under the radar.
Hii, what's up with your challenge?
eating healthier is a big one for me this year. i've tried many times to make going to the gym a habit but fail to see the results i wanted even when i was doing it because of my diet. i'm shrinking this goal down to just this upcoming spring semester of college so i can really focus on shopping better, cooking more, and eating out less
I want a man this motivated and insightful 🤩
So needed this today, not anything to do with the new year, but juggling too much and feeling overwhelmed. Thank you.
Happy New Year Matt! I look forward to another year of great videos 😉

the things i’m GOING to do are:
•wake up at 6:30 or before every day. i used to just do that on weekdays & give myself a break on weekends but that made it harder! so it’s every day from now on.
•read a book every 2-3 weeks. i don’t read enough!
•read my Bible daily.
•& journal in the mornings! thanks for the encouragement! it helps!!
Love this!
Omg I love you💞
