Without a doubt Mick is the most passion-filled creator I know. I've spent days and days trying to mimic sounds from Doom 2016 in FL Studio using some of his talks from conventions (GDC is the best for it btw). Whilst he's obviously a lot more skilled then me, one thing you realise trying to mimic him is that he doesn't cut corners, in fact he does way more work than needed and even bent the rules he was given to make Doom 2016 an unforgettable experience. Doom 2016 was anazing but it wouldn't have been much more than "it's okay" if it wasn't for Mick. I haven't ruined Eternal's soundtrack yet, I want to enjoy it in the game for the first time. If you give Mick some room to be creative, he'll turn it into audiable cocaine that'll hype you up for anything.
Totally. He used a law mower through a synthesizer at one point in a song from 2016's soundtrack. He definitely thinks outside the box. Then when you mention him not cutting corners and putting extra work in, that's completely true as well. The 2016 soundtrack has hidden messages buried deep within it only revealed when played at a certain speed and at some clever frequency (something to do with 666 iirc) or something along those lines. There's a video on the Easter eggs in either Doom 2016 or it's specifically about Easter eggs just in the soundtrack for 2016 alone lol. Cool shit.

I love how Bethesda first was against guitars, so Mick had to sneak them in, in a very cool way and the soundtrack was an insane hit. It's not too much of an issue for casual singing, But when singing Hard rock to Metal songs, It is imperative to drink a lot of room temprature water, for any prolonged period.
Y'know, Mick totally could've just one offed this round and repeated what he did for doom 2016 but with a little more intensity, or a little more variety.. but no. He's pushing the envelope a second time so the soundtrack feels fresh and divergent from it's predecessor. Always good to see a conposer like testing his limits with every project. I'm still astonished that the devs told him 'no metal' all those years ago. Hilarious to see how far that went!

Nature Ganganbaigal died? It's so weird watching this now, then learning he died almost an entire year ago. Ever since Mick put throat singing in Killer Instincts soundtrack (Jago theme) I've loved the sound. A true shame to learn he's no longer with us, but props for the memoriam at the end. This man... he brought me back to playing Doom. I played all the originals, even Doom 3. But when I got around to playing Doom 3, seeing what they were doing in that trailer for 2016... I felt it was lost... getting the chance to listen to the soundtracks for Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, that was what brought me back into the fold. Doom Eternal truly is a 60 dollar soundtrack with a free game attached, and it was worth every cent just to listen to this. Mick, if you ever read this: Thank you. From one artist to another, (even if I draw, and you do music) thank you so much for making these soundtracks. I'm sorry you got screwed in the end for such great work.

He did put some in but not alot. If you watch his breakdown on the gdc (fantastic watch) he talks about it, and also how the game would feel like a joke if they used guitars because metal in itself doesnt have that much of a serious reputation in the context they want to use it. If prog megal doesnt use many instruments then we have no argument. You just agreed to what i said and gave it a name. Cause i didnt know what genre this is. Most sounds of this are sampled from games or are purely electronic.

I love how Bethesda first was against guitars, so Mick had to sneak them in, in a very cool way and the soundtrack was an insane hit. I cant imagine Doom 2016 in any other way than what atmosphere and tempo this man is responible for.

This man... he brought me back to playing Doom. I played all the originals, even Doom 3. But when I got around to playing Doom 3, seeing what they were doing in that trailer for 2016... I felt it was lost... getting the chance to listen to the soundtracks for Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, that was what brought me back into the fold. Doom Eternal truly is a 60 dollar soundtrack with a free game attached, and it was worth every cent just to listen to this. Mick, if you ever read this: Thank you. From one artist to another, (even if I draw, and you do music) thank you so much for making these soundtracks. I'm sorry you got screwed in the end for such great work.
