The new Doom Eternal soundtrack is absolutely amazing. This is something my wife ( @MaruMartinezGuitar ) and I have wanted to do for a while now, and we finally had the time to put everything together. It's also our first cover video together, and I hope we can absolutely do more of this in the future. We both are always very busy chasing our own musical endeavors. So it was nice being able to make this video together.
As you can hear, the sound is a bit more 'produced' compared to my average drum video I normally upload. I wanted to mix the audio as if it were for a release. So I did edit some of the playing, and I also blended drum samples. The guitars have also been quad tracked to get a bit more weight. Either way, I hope you enjoy the production. My wife did an amazing job recording the guitars and filming/editing all of the video.

She's using a Guerilla Guitar 8 string in this video. This is the same 8 string I've used for a bunch of my own material. Her tone is a combination of tones from an Axe FX II.

Imagine having a heavy metal soundtrack that's so good even people who don't like heavy metal love the DOOM music
I think most heavy metal turns people off when the singer starts singing. It either sounds generic and throaty or is weird and screamy. No lyrics lets you make your own theme. Top tier workout/sports/gaming music.
Also Doom has a little more EDM style to it

In this song particulary, less its better, he is a solid drummer on strikes, but i would approach on less hits, less cymbal and more power and sustain, delayed hits to make even drum smasher

@@Tac-0 They're literally not audible my guy. A lot of the snare hits are triggered, and they drowned out the ghost notes so they wouldn't trigger the sample.
I think it goes without saying that this man has crafted the best drum sound ever heard.

This sounds like a legitimate live performance of the original.
It's obviously not live, but playback. Drummer does snare ghost hits at 2:00 and several other parts, that are inaudible. If it was live, you'd hear something
Shredd ‘sounds like’ obviously it’s not
The audio used for the mix was recorded and captured at the time of shooting the video. However, I wanted to approach mixing this similar to how I would for a release. So the drums have samples blended for snare, kick, and toms, and the guitars have been quad tracked. This isn't something I do for a normal drum video, which is much more natural and unprocessed (no samples). We wanted to go for a polished sound though so that it resembled something you would hear on an actual release. Sure, natural audio would've been neat, but it's a Doom cover and I wanted everything to hit as hard as possible. Unfortunately, trying to get my ghost notes to come through perfectly with everything hitting like a ton of bricks just wasn't priority. Hopefully this makes sense. Stay healthy! \m/
@@asdrummer2008 Well, that makes sense I guess. Triggering those ghost snares with samples would sound bad, just looked weird. And I understand that for that metal sound, trig samples are the way to go, natural drums don't sound like that. I wouldn't hold quad or double tracking against the guitarist and call it a playback either, as long as one of the tracks was played live. Normal in metal and impossible to do live so not really cheating

@MetalPhobos She does. My point was there are people out there who make metal but aren’t really that into it themselves. I’d have a hard time jamming to something I’m not into. Also, not trying to argue but did you hear of that TRAM project with Tosin And Javier? I heard that that but wasn’t super metal-like but they still used their 8-strings. Or like Owane used to have a 7-string and he’s not heavy at all, so I’m just saying, who knows what kind of whacky stuff people might come up with 8-strings in the future? They have so much range that I feel is often under-used.

Amazing job, I have an 8-string and I've been playing 20 years. I've been ripping it up in Doom and only recently started thinking about learning the soundtrack. While the songs aren't hard to play, they are hard to learn, because of the low tuning and ear hustling, and lack of tabs. Excellent job, you nailed it, guitarist and drummer both!
