I’m doing piano playing as hobby so I’m gonna tell you this. There’s a video of him playing the song called “Hana Wa Saku” which means flowers will bloom, on the piano. He did practice it to play it for those people who died from disasters and so on. I just imagined him practicing it a lot of time for those people and it really shows what kind of person he is. What heartbreaking news! He was a genuine patriot, he dedicated his time to making our country a better place.
Some of his policies were controversial, and he was often exposed to fierce criticism. But it never means he was a incompetent politican. On the contrary, it was proof that he was working for Japan, not for his own benefit. If he was only considering maintaining power, he wouldn't make a policy that would be criticized.
Though I've neither voted for the Liberal Democratic Party, where he had belonged, nor agreed with some of his policies such as constitutional amendment, I appreciate his work as a PM.

I truly cannot believe in my eyes or my ears that such a tragedy which matches that of Lincoln's and JFK's assassination could repeat again somewhere in the world in some way, even in a country that has abstained from any form of violence against foreigners or to its own people such as Japan. As a representative of the Vietnamese people as a whole, I send to the citizens of Japan both local and abroad, particularly to Shinzō Abe's family and relatives, my most heartfelt mourning over the passing away of such a great national icon like him.
This day is one that must be remembered in the minds of humanity, for although the world lost a man of utmost importance because of conflict, it means an incentive for us people to begin a race to ultimately eradicate deleterious hostility, whether in everyday affairs or cultural conflicts or in international dissension. No altercation should finish with the injury or death of any party involved, we've had enough problems managing internal felonies and nonphysical crimes (intellectual, oral,...etc) in recent times already, we do not deserve to live through an assassination attempt and cope with it too.
P.S.: Unfortunately can't please everyone in the world, notably the occidentals down in this video's comment section who still, after all those years of the recent decades, grouse over past events that are altogether none of their businesses to speak out loud about; as if they enjoy thinking of living antiquatedly so much so that their thought progress downright beclouds their present welfare and rationality. Plus, it is probable that these complainers have some form of judgmental complex that makes them persevere in their efforts to exploit flaw after flaw in someone, even after the person's death they would not stop in their accusations and pay respectful condolences. Either through unmitigated will, or jealousy for not being more esteemed and successful, or ignoble behavior of wanting to see leaders and former leaders getting murdered to assuage their rebellious nature that this unneeded backbiting is happening. Stereotypical of hyperactive people whose overflown outpouring of opinionated detractions leaves them always quarrelsome with an insufficiency of logic and empathy.

I agree. Even though the location of his appearance was changed the day prior, his private body guards and also the personnel stationed by the Nara police force did little to prevent Abe from being shot…
communication and a sense of danger were both lacking in this crucial moment.

The fact that a second shot was made from behind showed how unprepared his security detail was. To be fair, nothing like this has ever happened before, so they probably didn't expect something like this could happen. Tactically, he was impossible to defend. He was in the middle of a road with sparse traffic with plenty of angle from which a shooter can do the deed.

I stayed up to follow this. It’s now 6am in America, and I’ve been up since the news first broke. I just didn’t want to go to sleep and wake up to the news that he didn’t make it. Somehow, I was able to convince myself that if I stayed awake, he would pull through. But he died anyway.
I don’t know much about this man, which is why it’s so surprising to me that I feel so sad about his death.
I just don’t understand how someone can think they have the right to end someone else’s life. I’m so sick of people being killed.
