Excellent video! I've only been researching solar seriously for a few months now and this is by far and away the most informative video of a real world application that I've found. I joined EnergySage to get some online quotes and then magically started getting solar ads, but one of them was from Project Solar. Being a retired carpenter the diy install is doable for me. The electrical side I'll need some help on. Thanks for taking the time and energy for putting together this video. It's much appreciated.
Brian 1724, I hope your research is going well. I finally got my electrical content pulled together into a video and I hope it will help you as well. ua-cam.com/video/e8v6UsOFQUY/v-deo.html
Love the video. Great job. Amazing work. Took the leap and you owned it! I am in the process of researching my DIY job and this was extremely helpful. Thx for posting!
@mattbessicks7700 , I am not sure At this point, it is still too expensive and the lifespan of batteries is too short. We don't have many power outages in my area so I can't justify it yet. I can see the technology improving in the near future and adding it when costs and longer lifespan are better.
The wire from the panels down to the Enphase Combiner is 10 gauge and the wire from the Combiner box the rest of the way is 8 gauge. I recommend checking out Frugal Repair who did his own permits and provides a guide to help others. Here is a link to his main video and a link to his guide. If you email me at wseale3@gmail.com then I can send you a copy of my permit plans. ua-cam.com/video/ToxFObjnlF0/v-deo.html frugalrepair.com/solar-guide/
I did a 6 month follow up breaking down the total cost but after the tax credits it came to just under $15k. After 1 full year, I can say it was worthwhile and my annual electricity cost is net zero! ua-cam.com/video/4I5yv5zDt-c/v-deo.html

Thanks for the feedback! I will get the video created showing some of the more specific work including the wiring that was done.

Can you list what gauge of wire you used, and maybe post your permit info someplace?
