I LOVE companies that do crazy shit like this. I want to buy one just to support a small American company doing insane engineering and manufacturing. So cool.
They have one of these at the local outfitter store......and I had a chance to use it for 100 rounds of .223. Here is what I found...... 1. It is the most engineered turret press in existence. Everything is well thought out and works like a fine Swiss watch. 2. It is very smooth. Like really smooth. Everything has bearings...including the handle knob. 3. They thought of everything....this press you cannot criticize mechanically. It has no faults...except the price....maybe not..... 4. The price. Well......$1200 is some kind of cash. Here is how I see it. It has 9 stations. So I can set it up to reload 4 different calibers and still have a de-capping die. Even though this thing is big.....it will be able to eliminate my Dillon RL 550C and my single stage presses. So it will actually open up space on my bench. 5. Do I want one? I really have a hard time justifying spending $1200 on a turret press....but you only live once and the quality of this thing is so overwhelming. It looks like I will be selling all my other presses and getting this one. It is after all a very short life and I might as well enjoy only the best. All these folks complaining about the price will for the most part go out and buy a $50,000 car when they could have bought a cheaper car to drive. We have a choice and for many, the choice is ONLY THE BEST.
As a mechanical engineer, there are definitely many unique characteristics of the zero press to appreciate! Great press, absolutely one of the best out there.
No shit, when you’re willing to spend thousands on a setup and not making sure you are producing the top tier ammunition..... I love people criticizing this is top tier innovation it’s marginal performance difference the higher you go in quality just like everything else great example glass! “Waste of money, my athon is just as good as a ZC or a pm2”, they both have turrets and you can see through it.... why would you ever need something so expensive. Same guys will argue their ruger precision rifle is the same or comparable rifle to an AI these are simply different things they do the same thing but one is just better all the time, and when you’re talking mechanical precision it’s design, build materials and functionality that to the average guy who’s not neck turning and doing concentricity checks would never even know there’s a difference.

Thanks for having Craig come out and explain how they came up with the ideas behind the press, and what went into its creation. I can appreciate the quality that they put into the design, and the quality of the materials that they used for its construction. As a casual weekend shooter, I can't afford to drop that kind of dough on it which is sad; if I could, I would probably wait until the 3rd or 4th batch is out so they could work out any kind of kinks from machines out in the wild. There's always a need for precision instruments, and chasing after repeatability with reloads is definitely something that many of us do. Looking forward to what they have to offer in 2021. I sure would love a raffle!
I can understand and appreciate what they are trying to do, but in the process they have made it almost completely unattainable for most of the reloading community which is just sad.
These presses are by NO means for most of the reloading community. This is strictly for the highest level of precision and a niche market like high level PRS guys.
Its not sad, its a press made for guys who are willing to spend alot of money, big deal, some can, some cant, if it were the ONLY reloading press on the market, that would be sad, we have many choices available to us, how can u expect a company to turn out a piece of equipment like this, and price point it like ever other press on the market?? get real guys.... its not for everybody.......

But at what point does it become about only wanting to building this for the top tier guys and leaving the rest of the people out. We are all in this for the love of the sport and to push our selves further and further. We as a community should be working to help each other not segregate us based solely on our available balance in our bank accounts.

Alot of PRS guys and even F class guys (like Eric Cortina and F class John) are switching over to dillons. This kinda seems like a step backwards at least when you take the price into consideration. Your paying 3x the cost of the aforementioned presses and for most shooting aspects your not going to tell a difference. If precision is the most important then id probably load with a arbor press and invest the coin in a auto trickler. Don't get me wrong If this was around 500 or so it maybe could be justified.. im sure they'll sell a handful initially but for most people even with the higher level shooting styles/competitions i think this is going to be a hard justification over the presses you guys outlined at the beginning.
Erik is not loading his ammunition on the Dillon. Just using it for processing. He’s using an arbor press to seat. I’m pretty sure that all benchrest and F-Class shooters use arbor presses.
Gavin, how would you compare this with a prazipress if your focus is on precision, low runout ammo (don’t care about turret convenience - accuracy is the focus)? I think you may be the only one on the planet able to answer that ;)
I have the Prazipress and the Forster Co Ax (I do not have the Zero). The Prazipress is way over engineered and will surely last for generations, but I just keep coming back to the Forster and its is half the price of the Prazipress. I use Redding and Triebal dies for my 300 win mag.
Using a lee Classic Turret at the moment, happy with it. Going to get an additional rcbs. Costs a small fortune here in South Africa already. That Zero pres is probably going to cost a quarter of my annual salary. I don't shoot that good in anyway.
There will always be a market for excellence, and excellence usually costs more. Having said that, for those who cannot afford this press, a reminder. Take any press you want, and size a case with a one piece die that is a close match to the rifle's chamber and has the correct neck ID for the desired neck tension....and measure the sized case for runout. If you are on a budget and want to upgrade your sizing results, spend the money on dies.
I have a Hollywood Gun shop Universal loading press, 12 stations solid as a rock. A much more versatile machine at no where near the cost. Good try though!

Not true. You really need to do some research. Europeans regularly spend that kind of money on presses. Dillion sell many that costs more. You really need to get out more. A lot of people spend that kind of money. Just not you & a few you hang out with.
Its a beautiful , insanely well engineered press. Area 419 makes some of the most over the top incredible 5 axis milled, ground, polished, products. If I was a PRS shooter with a 10k rifle, a 10k scope and thousands in brass and lead to load. I would buy this. However 98% of the reloading market is not. Most of us will buy a Redding T-7 or a Dillon 550 for a manual index, multi die head, quality press. I use quality synthetic grease and oil on mine, and its silky smooth. I have watched several PRS, and other classes, use Dillon 550s like mine. However, they will find something that the 419 that helps them with, we will see. Its sure a nice piece of eye candy also.
Great revue Gavin, and your guest was very excited with his "there" product, for myself and not looking to replace any of my presses, and considering the cost it will not go into my must have reloading tools. But in saying that I wish them all the luck in the world marketing and selling this product.
Gavin, I appreciate the video and Area 419 for taking the time to make this, BUT it just blows my mind that anyone would pay this amount of money for a turret press. This goes beyond Gucci. Heck get an AMP press and a few LE Wilson dies. You'll see amazing, informative data plus awesome outcomes for concentricity. Never have I gotten the concentricity and consistency in COAL as I did when I switched to that seating method. If I'm gonna spend that much money, then I want something that actually provides one hella upgrade in outcome.
Wow people really need to stop complaining about the price. Some people just like nice things and don't have a real need for them. No need to call them stupid because they like nice things. I don't have a need to replace my T7 with this but I will once it's available only for the reason that it is REALLY nice. I also found their $100 funnel set to be really nice and just ordered that. Also since I am in the 419 I will be supporting a local company.
Really like the design, concept and forward thinking that's went into this press. Awesome product! I excited about how they will expand and develop accessories to go with this press. It has so much potential and what I really like is the guys behind this product think outside the box and are willing to push the limits to bring a product that far exceeds expectations and needs. Is it overpriced, yes, but it also sits in a niche of its own. I will have one eventually because it helps eliminate variables and that's something that nickels and dimes all of us overtime. you would think for that price it would seat primers too. Just more expenses to add to the final price tag. Any benefits of this do not outweigh the price by a long shot
While it is a nice piece of machinery. IMHO it isn't worth the $850+ premium increase over what is currently already on the market. Has there been any bench testing to support the statement made, that the Area 419 tolerances attribute to a higher degree of accuracy than a Redding, RCBS or a Forster can provide?

This press isn’t for me. HOWEVER: they’ve disrupted the industry. This will change what other manufacturers do on the high end. I think this fills the void left by the old Hollywood senior press - another niche product that you can see influencing today’s turret presses. That being said...I still watched it to the end and enjoyed the tech.
I would love to get one of these by the time I get my 6 dasher built. Living in a small town, I seriously doubt I’ll see one though. The price seems steep, but I might take the plunge soon.
I have no doubt that this is an awesome press, but for $1200 ,and the fact that only a fraction of 1% of shooters will notice or appreciate the difference, it makes no sense to me unless you are making a living with it.
Enjoyed that Gavin, but still didn't answer my core questions: 1. How well does the aluminum plate resist flexing as compared to steel? 2. Longevity of aluminum as compared to steel? 3. Longevity of teflon coated linear bearings? Are these parts that will need to be replaced? And 'can' they be if needed?
Updating my own post here. I reached out to Area 419 and received the following response which sounds really really good to me: "The quick answer on the steel vs alum question - we actually use both in the assembly, and have produced something that has less flex in the die than the industry-standard single-stage press when under heavy sizing pressure. We also guarantee it forever. On the bearing, while it is replaceable, the expected lifespan when used in this press for reloading is 10M strokes, based on a stress and travel study by the bearing’s manufacturer."
I have some pretty good arthritis in my hands and arms and everywhere else in my body. I love the roller handle I love how smooth the press is I can do a couple hundred rounds in a sitting before I start to hurt

Yay, nice to hear Redding T-7 and RCBS are getting some love. I bought an used T-7 for $160, which is cheaper than the new rcbs Rebel on sale. That's my first loading press to learn more about reloading.
I know. I've been planning on building my own press for some time. This press has alot of the things I was wanting. But I can make 3 of them and still have beer money for that price
Some sort of primer system would be nice, I use it on my T7, but loading the heavy 7mmMag and 338 I use a RCBS bench primer. Like that a shorter handle will be offered. Gavin looked like he was moving his arm a lot. I made a shorter handle for the T7 but can change it out quick
Do appreciate the thought put into it, but, it is a luxury that has a limited market, for those who are worried about microscopic things. Even with all the advancements we make in the machine tools & gun and component end of shooting, Ma nature can negate every penny you spend in a microsecond, not to mention the human factor behind the gun. And then there is the keeping up with the Jones and the coolest new thing factor. Gavin's next big thing will be the IDOD unit, because he is an engineer and it is his core being, he cannot resist it, he cannot help himself on that, it is what he is. Buy one of these, a Prometheus and an IDOD, ya got 8 grand min into it, right there. The difference might just buy enough components to practice enough to beat them.
You sound like you hate that certain things are priced out of your budget. Be glad there are people innovating. That innovation drives more innovation and competition that trickles down
Still using my RCBS Rock Chucker II single stage press kit I bought back in 92. Hmmm, $1,300 bucks for a press...I can buy a sweet rifle and scope, for that, and a set of premium dies. I guess if you shoot competitively it's just another investment cost to indulge your hobby. As for the average Joe DeerTaag, handloads from my Rock Chucker will turn a buck ass-over-antlers just as quick! 😂
That's an awesome press. I love turret presses. But my god $1,200 in a plandemic is insane. I guess if I didnt have two kids, two cars, and a house I could buy one. Still way cool but damn expensive
Is it? $1200.....Dillon Rl 550C is going up in price along with all the other progressive presses....and Dillons are on backorder. Even the single stage presses are rising in prices. Look at cars....the average car is now over $40,000. A car! Guns are not cheap any more and neither is ammo. We can thank the imposter in chief and the bankers for the inflation we are now experiencing. There is no other progressive press like this one. It is not only functional, but a work of art. It will no doubt be more expensive as time goes on.....that is the nature of the fiat money system we now are suffering under.
Have used all presses mentioned and am waiting on delivery of the Zero press. Reloading is expensive and all of us go as deep as our budgets allow in every aspect of our lives. My Co-Ax is nice, but does introduce some error with the die holding system. Keep it coming 419, am looking forward to your dies.
You want amazing dies look at Mark's from Short Action Precision. He showed them to me and the design and tolerances are astonishing. It like the Uber Swiss watch of dies. I would be surprised if anyone could make anything better.
Rock Chucker that is 40 years old is good enough for me. These guys need to work for Gucci guns... High class that doesn't prove to be much advantage just pricey.... It's not like a high quality nightforce scope thats cost is equal to its ruggedness and quality.
Got a Frankford Arsenal M-Press and seriously disappointed... does not handle a long die + micrometer, disaster... for now removed the micrometer... but already decided to look at a new press and well, it's either just get something or wait and get the final press I will buy and this will be it... love the recent Die announcement also.
I get a kick out of the comments here. Most of you guys sound like the back wood hillbillies that won’t buy a nice rifle because your trusty old single shot does pretty darn good. I said that in my best hillbilly voice by the way.... PS. The German press is close to the same price and it doesn’t have a turret head. You want something nice you’re going to pay for it. We’ve sold and shipped a truckload of them, right now the production batch being finished up is totally sold out. Once this batch ships, we will open up the next batch for sale - February shipment target on that run.
If its the best i want it, period. I will use it more than any firearm i have because i will load multiple cartridges on it and even my cheapest rifle cost much more than that press. i have handguns that cost 2-3 times as much as that press...so yeah if its the best at 1.2k its going to be on my bench...

float indicate off a lock ring leaves a lot for us ??? Floating finds center and even if it the press pivot points wear the end result is where that lock ring rests on the frame as the die centers. Replacing a lock ring is cheaper and easier when necessary.
I would love to see Gavin review some of the older presses from around the 1950’s. I use a Hollywood Senior. The C-H and some of the others seem so different than the modern presses. I’d really enjoy hearing how they compare.
I've been loading off my Rock Chucker for 50 years through my National Match days and IDPA, IPSC. Still less than .001 runout on the ram producing MOA ammo for all my rifles. I'd loan that to Gavin for a comparison.
This press is really geared for the 1% reloading crowd. I appreciate the engineering and thought that went into it. Seems like if you're willing to spend many thousands on a competition bench rest setup... what's a couple grand for a premium reloading setup.
Do I want one, hell yes but at $1200 I gotta pass. I've been working off a Rock Chucker for almost 50 years, ram runout is still well under .001" and it's loaded all my cartridges including 30/06 and 308 in my NM days and 45acp until I got a SDB. Over 10,000 rounds, maybe. If the Zero was available it would have been a good choice for me and at the cost of ammo today it would have paid for itself many times over. The problem is for the average shooter you could buy a RC Master Kit and a SDB with money left over to fill the rest of your bench. It's a beautiful piece but with component costs skyrocketing most people IMHO would be better served with more economical equipment spending the extra cash on a power trimmer, a good electronic scale and a quality set of dies along with the many smaller items needed to produce quality ammo. The Zero will sell out to many who appreciate the best and can afford it and I'd love to have one but my old set up still produces ammo that keeps my 270W shooting very sub MOA.
I will never buy another product from 419. Products might be great but if you use your customers as test cases for products then don't provide good customer service it really is for nothing.
This is way above my pay grade. Seriously though this precision is nice and all but I question if it makes that much difference compared to what's already out there when accounting for environmental issues the human part. I get keeping tolerances to a minimum but it's hard to wrap my head around how much benefit this allows.
Just bought a Hornady Iron press in January. It's not getting the job done. Just ordered the Zero. The Hornady lock-n-load bushing system is not really for precision loading in my opinion.
I like it, I want one. Kind of expensive from the outside looking in. I reloaded for 15 yrs on a Square Deal, and a Lyman Single Stage. I got away from reloading about 15 yrs ago and now want to get back into it. Sold all of my stuff 10 yrs ago, looking back I should have just put it all in boxes and waited until now, BUT...... Hindsight is 20/20.
It's a well made system but the affordability factor is what kills it , i can buy a lee press and all the die's and supplies for my need's every other year and come out spending less money. If you can get your prices down to a level that would make it's performance over the others a economical choice i would be interested.

I just started making my own rifle bullets. Corbin makes wonderful equipment. I thought about doing this for 40 years. Now I wish I had done this long ago. It would be nice if there was more information on Bullet sweddging. I was intimidated by the apparent complexity of it, but it's not nearly as complicated as I thought.
P.S. linear bearings are expensive in my professional experience, so get some extras up front! This is slow moving, so not as critical as most linear bearing worlds, but all parts have the potential for failure. Dirt and grime is your enemy. Keep it cleaned and lubed and it will last a lifetime.
I hate to say this...I bought an Iron Press kit today...just saw this and I am beyond impressed. I think I would have bought this unit...it’s incredible. Next time for sure!!
I have been looking at getting a new press. Mine was given to me by a friend its a lee 5 station turret problem is there is a lot of slop in the turret causing inconsistent rounds. Was going to get a Redding T7 due to quality and they offer an LEO discount but I kinda want one of these now wonder if they offer an Leo discount???
It’s a great Press to be sure . Concentricity , strength and robustness is what it’s all about. I think that the big Reloading press manufactures engineers will burning the midnight oil trying to figure out how they are going to top Area 419 Zero Turret press .

Not true. You really need to do some research. Europeans regularly spend that kind of money on presses. Dillion sell many that costs more. You really need to get out more. A lot of people spend that kind of money. Just not you & a few you hang out with.

Its a beautiful , insanely well engineered press. Area 419 makes some of the most over the top incredible 5 axis milled, ground, polished, products. If I was a PRS shooter with a 10k rifle, a 10k scope and thousands in brass and lead to load. I would buy this. However 98% of the reloading market is not. Most of us will buy a Redding T-7 or a Dillon 550 for a manual index, multi die head, quality press. I use quality synthetic grease and oil on mine, and its silky smooth. I have watched several PRS, and other classes, use Dillon 550s like mine. However, they will find something that the 419 that helps them with, we will see. Its sure a nice piece of eye candy also.
Great revue Gavin, and your guest was very excited with his "there" product, for myself and not looking to replace any of my presses, and considering the cost it will not go into my must have reloading tools. But in saying that I wish them all the luck in the world marketing and selling this product.
Gavin, I appreciate the video and Area 419 for taking the time to make this, BUT it just blows my mind that anyone would pay this amount of money for a turret press. This goes beyond Gucci. Heck get an AMP press and a few LE Wilson dies. You'll see amazing, informative data plus awesome outcomes for concentricity. Never have I gotten the concentricity and consistency in COAL as I did when I switched to that seating method. If I'm gonna spend that much money, then I want something that actually provides one hella upgrade in outcome.

Wow people really need to stop complaining about the price. Some people just like nice things and don't have a real need for them. No need to call them stupid because they like nice things. I don't have a need to replace my T7 with this but I will once it's available only for the reason that it is REALLY nice. I also found their $100 funnel set to be really nice and just ordered that. Also since I am in the 419 I will be supporting a local company.
Really like the design, concept and forward thinking that's went into this press. Awesome product! I excited about how they will expand and develop accessories to go with this press. It has so much potential and what I really like is the guys behind this product think outside the box and are willing to push the limits to bring a product that far exceeds expectations and needs. Is it overpriced, yes, but it also sits in a niche of its own. I will have one eventually because it helps eliminate variables and that's something that nickels and dimes all of us overtime. Great work guys!
you would think for that price it would seat primers too. Just more expenses to add to the final price tag. Any benefits of this do not outweigh the price by a long shot
While it is a nice piece of machinery. IMHO it isn't worth the $850+ premium increase over what is currently already on the market. Has there been any bench testing to support the statement made, that the Area 419 tolerances attribute to a higher degree of accuracy than a Redding, RCBS or a Forster can provide?
For the majority of us, this is not a tool that we can justify on purchasing.

This press isn’t for me. HOWEVER: they’ve disrupted the industry. This will change what other manufacturers do on the high end. I think this fills the void left by the old Hollywood senior press - another niche product that you can see influencing today’s turret presses.
That being said...I still watched it to the end and enjoyed the tech.
I would love to get one of these by the time I get my 6 dasher built. Living in a small town, I seriously doubt I’ll see one though. The price seems steep, but I might take the plunge soon.
I have no doubt that this is an awesome press, but for $1200 ,and the fact that only a fraction of 1% of shooters will notice or appreciate the difference, it makes no sense to me unless you are making a living with it.
Hobbyists are buying it too. They sell more than they can make.

Enjoyed that Gavin, but still didn't answer my core questions:
1. How well does the aluminum plate resist flexing as compared to steel?
2. Longevity of aluminum as compared to steel?
3. Longevity of teflon coated linear bearings? Are these parts that will need to be replaced? And 'can' they be if needed?
Updating my own post here. I reached out to Area 419 and received the following response which sounds really really good to me:
"The quick answer on the steel vs alum question - we actually use both in the assembly, and have produced something that has less flex in the die than the industry-standard single-stage press when under heavy sizing pressure. We also guarantee it forever.
On the bearing, while it is replaceable, the expected lifespan when used in this press for reloading is 10M strokes, based on a stress and travel study by the bearing’s manufacturer."
I have some pretty good arthritis in my hands and arms and everywhere else in my body. I love the roller handle I love how smooth the press is I can do a couple hundred rounds in a sitting before I start to hurt

Yay, nice to hear Redding T-7 and RCBS are getting some love. I bought an used T-7 for $160, which is cheaper than the new rcbs Rebel on sale. That's my first loading press to learn more about reloading.

I know. I've been planning on building my own press for some time. This press has alot of the things I was wanting. But I can make 3 of them and still have beer money for that price

Some sort of primer system would be nice, I use it on my T7, but loading the heavy 7mmMag and 338 I use a RCBS bench primer. Like that a shorter handle will be offered. Gavin looked like he was moving his arm a lot. I made a shorter handle for the T7 but can change it out quick
Do appreciate the thought put into it, but, it is a luxury that has a limited market, for those who are worried about microscopic things. Even with all the advancements we make in the machine tools & gun and component end of shooting, Ma nature can negate every penny you spend in a microsecond, not to mention the human factor behind the gun. And then there is the keeping up with the Jones and the coolest new thing factor. Gavin's next big thing will be the IDOD unit, because he is an engineer and it is his core being, he cannot resist it, he cannot help himself on that, it is what he is. Buy one of these, a Prometheus and an IDOD, ya got 8 grand min into it, right there. The difference might just buy enough components to practice enough to beat them.

Still using my RCBS Rock Chucker II single stage press kit I bought back in 92. Hmmm, $1,300 bucks for a press...I can buy a sweet rifle and scope, for that, and a set of premium dies. I guess if you shoot competitively it's just another investment cost to indulge your hobby. As for the average Joe DeerTaag, handloads from my Rock Chucker will turn a buck ass-over-antlers just as quick! 😂
That's an awesome press. I love turret presses. But my god $1,200 in a plandemic is insane. I guess if I didnt have two kids, two cars, and a house I could buy one. Still way cool but damn expensive
It’s not expensive. You’ve just made a choice to spend your income differently. Not the same thing.
The toolhead is gonna flex upwards when sizing, making your die sit on an angel.
Area 419 doesn’t make products for the average joe , beautiful press but way over priced
Is it? $1200.....Dillon Rl 550C is going up in price along with all the other progressive presses....and Dillons are on backorder. Even the single stage presses are rising in prices. Look at cars....the average car is now over $40,000. A car!
Guns are not cheap any more and neither is ammo.

There is no other progressive press like this one. It is not only functional, but a work of art. It will no doubt be more expensive as time goes on.....that is the nature of the fiat money system we now are suffering under.

Have used all presses mentioned and am waiting on delivery of the Zero press. Reloading is expensive and all of us go as deep as our budgets allow in every aspect of our lives. My Co-Ax is nice, but does introduce some error with the die holding system. Keep it coming 419, am looking forward to your dies.
You want amazing dies look at Mark's from Short Action Precision. He showed them to me and the design and tolerances are astonishing. It like the Uber Swiss watch of dies. I would be surprised if anyone could make anything better.

Rock Chucker that is 40 years old is good enough for me. These guys need to work for Gucci guns... High class that doesn't prove to be much advantage just pricey.... It's not like a high quality nightforce scope thats cost is equal to its ruggedness and quality.
Got a Frankford Arsenal M-Press and seriously disappointed... does not handle a long die + micrometer, disaster... for now removed the micrometer... but already decided to look at a new press and well, it's either just get something or wait and get the final press I will buy and this will be it... love the recent Die announcement also.
I have one. Absolutely amazing press. It’s worth the expense. I have a Co-ax as well. This press far exceeds the co-ax.

I assume I can use my Hornady and RCBS dies without any issues using this press, is that correct?
If its the best i want it, period. I will use it more than any firearm i have because i will load multiple cartridges on it and even my cheapest rifle cost much more than that press. i have handguns that cost 2-3 times as much as that press...so yeah if its the best at 1.2k its going to be on my bench...

float indicate off a lock ring leaves a lot for us ??? Floating finds center and even if it the press pivot points wear the end result is where that lock ring rests on the frame as the die centers. Replacing a lock ring is cheaper and easier when necessary.
will this press handle 1 1/4" thread dies for the 375 Cheytac at every station or????

I would love to see Gavin review some of the older presses from around the 1950’s. I use a Hollywood Senior. The C-H and some of the others seem so different than the modern presses. I’d really enjoy hearing how they compare.
I've been loading off my Rock Chucker for 50 years through my National Match days and IDPA, IPSC. Still less than .001 runout on the ram producing MOA ammo for all my rifles. I'd loan that to Gavin for a comparison.

This press is really geared for the 1% reloading crowd. I appreciate the engineering and thought that went into it. Seems like if you're willing to spend many thousands on a competition bench rest setup... what's a couple grand for a premium reloading setup.

Do I want one, hell yes but at $1200 I gotta pass. I've been working off a Rock Chucker for almost 50 years, ram runout is still well under .001" and it's loaded all my cartridges including 30/06 and 308 in my NM days and 45acp until I got a SDB. Over 10,000 rounds, maybe. If the Zero was available it would have been a good choice for me and at the cost of ammo today it would have paid for itself many times over. The problem is for the average shooter you could buy a RC Master Kit and a SDB with money left over to fill the rest of your bench. It's a beautiful piece but with component costs skyrocketing most people IMHO would be better served with more economical equipment spending the extra cash on a power trimmer, a good electronic scale and a quality set of dies along with the many smaller items needed to produce quality ammo. The Zero will sell out to many who appreciate the best and can afford it and I'd love to have one but my old set up still produces ammo that keeps my 270W shooting very sub MOA.

I will never buy another product from 419. Products might be great but if you use your customers as test cases for products then don't provide good customer service it really is for nothing.

Upvoted but let me know when these things fall under $900.00 because they’re simply too expensive to justify (return on the dollar) right now.
This is way above my pay grade. Seriously though this precision is nice and all but I question if it makes that much difference compared to what's already out there when accounting for environmental issues the human part. I get keeping tolerances to a minimum but it's hard to wrap my head around how much benefit this allows.
Just bought a Hornady Iron press in January. It's not getting the job done. Just ordered the Zero. The Hornady lock-n-load bushing system is not really for precision loading in my opinion.
I like it, I want one. Kind of expensive from the outside looking in. I reloaded for 15 yrs on a Square Deal, and a Lyman Single Stage. I got away from reloading about 15 yrs ago and now want to get back into it. Sold all of my stuff 10 yrs ago, looking back I should have just put it all in boxes and waited until now, BUT...... Hindsight is 20/20.
It's a well made system but the affordability factor is what kills it , i can buy a lee press and all the die's and supplies for my need's every other year and come out spending less money. If you can get your prices down to a level that would make it's performance over the others a economical choice i would be interested.

I just started making my own rifle bullets. Corbin makes wonderful equipment.
I thought about doing this for 40 years.
Now I wish I had done this long ago.
It would be nice if there was more information on Bullet sweddging.
I was intimidated by the apparent complexity of it, but it's not nearly as complicated as I thought.
P.S. linear bearings are expensive in my professional experience, so get some extras up front! This is slow moving, so not as critical as most linear bearing worlds, but all parts have the potential for failure. Dirt and grime is your enemy. Keep it cleaned and lubed and it will last a lifetime.
Apologize if I’ve missed it….but can you seat / load primers on the Zero Press? It does seem like it’s worth the price for sure. Very impressive.

I have been looking at getting a new press. Mine was given to me by a friend its a lee 5 station turret problem is there is a lot of slop in the turret causing inconsistent rounds. Was going to get a Redding T7 due to quality and they offer an LEO discount but I kinda want one of these now wonder if they offer an Leo discount???

It’s a great Press to be sure . Concentricity , strength and robustness is what it’s all about. I think that the big Reloading press manufactures engineers will burning the midnight oil trying to figure out how they are going to top Area 419 Zero Turret press .
