it's weird to watch this with the weak ass beats in the video background. I assume those were added by the production team that made the interview who added some super generic hip hap beats. It's almost implied that those beats are the beats Kanye is making (especially in shots of him dancing by the console), but in reality Kanye's beats at the time were amazing.
Those are legitimate beats, they just took at out the vocal samples and stripped them down. If u listen to the last one it’s Song Cry by Jay-Z lmao. You really out here sayin they’re whack tho lmao
Mike Lewicki you’re right. The last beat is from Song Cry but it is WAY stripped down. The snare sample is completely different it doesn’t have any of the vocal or piano samples from the original for example. I was probably wrong though, these are probably Ye’s beats but super rough. I wonder if that’s how he recorded the first layer of beats on an MPC (is he using an Ensoniq in the vid?) and then they tracked other samples on top later. Either way I stand by my comment that those beats sound whack. The Song Cry beat would sound terrible in the song if left like that. I was probably wrong about them not being Kanye’s though.
Maybe they’re generic remakes for UA-cam to avoid copyright claims because the song cry beat has the vocal from the sample throughout most of the beat and there’s not a cheesy piano
