10 years ago this song meant something totally different to me. Now that I've lost a few close homies, it hurts to listen to. But I'll never stop listening because the pain from their loss is worth the memories. We worked hard never taking enough time off to really appreciate each other. But when we did, we party hard as f***. Here's a toast to my douche bags. Your missed but never forgotten.
I met one of my best friends discussing our love for this track. He passed away two years ago and now this song means so much more to me. Miss you my boy.
At the beginning? I just don't like the hard shift from the echo of the hall sound, to the no echo from the studio sound. I think they should have had a gradual transition/fade between the two.
This is how I feel about it too, I have no idea why I am in love with song but it’s been part of my playlist for ever. Can’t really describe why I like it so much but it’s literally one of my favorite songs ever
You should care and learn how to respect the art but not the artist, is art is beautiful and his soul is shrouded in the need for white validation cause he's literally mentally ill, you shouldn't back what he says but that doesn't mean you can't back his art
@@σεα-ψ9ε exactly, if they were smart, they would take one second to listen to him instead of just listening to whatever the media wants you to hear. people are being brainwashed. i was slightly being brainwashed too, until i started listening to Ye. its in the school systems, online, everywhere. I lost both my narcissistic parents in less than a year. They both taught me finding failure in everything and not thinking people are good enough, was a way to love and be loved. I’m now turning 45, and hearing this for the first time every today. Holy shit. My life summed up in one song. I’m so thankful I’m on the path to healing now. This song is powerful as hell
I think they just wanted you to be better. I don’t think any parent ever thinks their kid is “good enough,” and the ones who do sound like they aren’t trying very hard. If your kids aren’t doing well, you should want to make them better. Even if the kid thinks they’re fine. You don’t let them be fine with being just okay. Sometimes parents know better. And they want you to be better. They want you to be exceptional. And so they push you, sometimes too hard. That’s just my belief. I bet they really loved you, and I hope one day you look back on them and realize there was love there and that they cared. I just think it’s sad to hear a person call their dead parents narcissists for those silly reasons.
I wish Kanye a quick recovery from whatever he is going through and make music like this once again Edit: what I mean by "whatever hes going through" referes to his physical and mental decline not necessarily his divorce
As a Christian myself I enjoyed some of the songs from Donda namely Jesus Lord, Hurricane, Moon. Good songs and good message. I’m not a hardcore Christian either. I believe in God, pray, go to church, etc, and I listen to rap music and such. I still liked Donda. But yeah it’s a shame what he’s going through for sure.

going through Ye's entire discography right now. it blows my mind how people think Kanye isn't one of the best to come around (as a rapper and producer).
He really ain’t that great at “rapping” but his production is light years ahead of anyone else in my opinion, which does make him one of the best artists in hip hop history
This song came out during a bad break up. Song kept playing in my head had me on a bridge wanting to jump. That pain mixed with the cold and these lyrics made me realize i was the problem. As much as it hurt she had to run away from me

I'm 38 years old I remember hearing Kanye for first time,(through the wire) and saying to all my friends that time that this guy would be a superstar, that he's an amazing producer and rapper, time proved me right, I wich Kanye all the best, it's not easy going through what he went through and come out same person (mother died so unpredictable, family stabbing in the back, brothers from the start, distancing themselves, have the whole wide world media telling writing how crazy you are, (because he's trying not to fit,how dare you Mr West), you are a inspiration a great artist and I believe a great person too, I wish you all the best and that you can be happy today and forever, your word your music it's for me, what Beethoven,Picasso,Michelangelo, was in their time, you already are in human history as one of our biggest artists, as long we live as Humans In this world your name your works will be here too, May Jesus Walk by Your Side.
This song is actually a masterpiece, even the visuals in this video is clearly underrated!! I love this Kanye, I have a feeling this Kanye is coming back. Thanks to those Sunday Services he has on those hills or woods or whatever mountain top he has it! Lol It’s genuinely inspiring🙂
Sub Zero Yea I know it’s an old video, I’m just saying that his Sunday Service that he is doing NOW, is reminding me of the old Kanye in this video. And I feel like he will NOW come up with music that is just as great, like this song and video from 9 years ago. I hope you know what I mean now, even if you don’t. It’s ok, because I’m we sure we both can agree this is great music either way 🎼 🎶😊
What a joke! Masterpiece is definitely not the word one would use to describe this song! The guy cannot even sing, o.k., just being honest, there is a reason he uses autotune. The Sunday Services are nothing more than to feed his ego, publicity, a tax haven, and to start a church and take in donations like all the other crooked evangelists. Wake up and smell the coffee. You kids just don't get it.
I don’t like Kanye much, but that might be because I never really gave him a chance. The most I’ve seen from him is from memes where he just seems like such an odd person and does so many things that just seem dumb. Especially in his Lift Yourself song when he just went “Woopity Scoop, pooping woop.” That just seemed like he wasn’t serious and seemed so odd. However, then Kanye has songs like this that I finally decided to give a chance on the day I’m writing this. I have to say, I think this genuinely is one of the best and really shows a better side of Kanye. I was always told that Kanye is basically lyrical genius and is really deep with his lyrics, and this really shows that. I’m glad I’ve given Kanye a chance today, and I do intend to look into more of his songs. If anyone read through all of this, it would be cool if you could recommend me some good Kanye Songs for me to fully be introduced to him. Thank you for reading.
I would be happy to, but this comment will be long.. The story behind Lift Yourself, is that Drake went to Wyoming and Ye played him that beat, and was planning to give it to him, but made Life Yourself to spite him. Anyways, I don't know what type of music you enjoy, but honestly I would just start from the beginning of Kanye's discography at College Dropout. My favorites from that album are, We Don't Care, Jesus Walks, School Spirit, and Family Business. On his next album, Late Registration, my favorites are Touch the Sky, Addiction, Diamonds From Sierra Leone, and Hey Mama. From Graduation, Good Morning, I wonder, Everything I am, and Big Brother are my favorite. From 808s (my favorite Kanye album), I recommend literally the entire album besides See You In My Nightmares, with Street Lights being my favorite off the album. From My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, again, I recommend literally everything, with Devil in a New Dress and Runaway being some of the greatest songs I've ever heard. I really haven't listened to much Watch The Throne so I won't recommend anything from that. From Yeezus though (his most experimental album, and most polarizing), New Slaves, Hold My liquor, and Blood on The Leaves are my favorites, but they're all great. From The Life Of Pablo, Ultralight Beam, Feedback, Freestyle 4, FML, Real Friends, No More Parties in LA, and Saint Pablo are my favorites. On Ye, Ghost Town is undoubtedly the best on the album, but its good as a whole (minus No Mistakes imo). Also, the entire album "Kids See Ghosts" is fucking AWESOME, especially 4th Dimension, Kids See Ghosts, and Cudi Montage. There are also a multitude of songs Kanye has produced, or featured on that I recommend but this comment is long enough so you can just google them. I also recommend "Daytona" by Pusha T which was produced by Kanye. I know its a lot to go through but its worth it. If anyone else reads this, and notices I forgot something feel free to add to this list.
Listen to Slow Jamz, Spaceship, Last Call, Touch the sky, Diamonds from Sierra Leone, Hey Mama, Roses, I wonder, Stronger, Big Brother, Welcome to Heartbreak, Street Lights,
Some classics have gotta be power, stronger, and most of kids see ghosts. All really cool songs/albums. I’m also relatively new but those are just some of my favorites including this song.
I'm not a Kanye fan but there's something so hauntingly beautiful about this song. It's blown my mind. The piano intro is so cold, it really drags you in. Then a fucking amazing rhythmic bass starts with some pretty meaningful lyrics. Iiterally cannot explain the effect this song has on me. It hits at a really deep spiritual level...
@Sabrina-xg1rb I noticed that as well. And it could also represent a fallen angel whom uses be. Body as well. The black and white is good and evil duality- satanism and freemason symbols. The toast is for everyone he knows.. that are in the background... 😢
I’ve carried this song with me for 10+ years. It’s been there, like a good friend, it’s self reflective and reminds me that I’ve yet to reach my final destination
Sorry but Kanye has rampant bipolar and has all sorts of issues that prevent him from seeing the truth. He is wealthy in a time of American decline and social destruction. People support this low energy music because they forget the real talent that brought America to the world stage like Ragtime, Jazz, Blues, R&B and Folk which gave rise to Rock & Roll, Funk, Disco and eventually Hip Hop. Hes part of the bastardization movement that took all that inherited artforms and completely shit on it while profiting on it due to having the ability to promote his copying of other peoples music, use of autotune and synthesizers and appropriating of techniques and skills that arent his and he doesnt possess.
@@thenbagreatteller1855 chill. It’s an opinion. Also ur not in the group I’m talking about then. I’m talking about ppl in general don’t appreciate artists till they’re gone. It’s a reminder to appreciate them while they’re here. It’s a positive message.
Damn bro Kanye is so talented when he wants to be...i gues like the rest of us when hes healthy upstairs and things are good the music is the best and when hes down the music is down...its poetic
Kyle yeah a typical life cycle for a Kanye fan goes: 1. See media coverage and presume he’s a talentless asshole. 2. Listen to any of his post 2011 albums (the newer ones grow immensely on you). 3. You begin to see the reason he’s famous, because he’s a fantastic music creator. 4. After many listens to all his albums (not i love it) you realize he is one of the only true artists of our generation
With the last sentence, I’d say that we gotta face ourselves, not run away. If we keep running away from ourselves, we’re only going to run into even more problems. When we stop to take a look at ourselves and see that the problem was us, we can then start on working on being our own solution to our own problems. If that makes sense.
I really hope Ye finds peace with himself most of all. He's a musical genius and it's a shame to see the shit he's going through right now. No matter what he's said, this song is still a masterpiece and will always always have a place in my heart.

Proud of you
Me identifico com você 😥
your and Australopithecus
I hope you’re doing good 😊

This song is actually a masterpiece, even the visuals in this video is clearly underrated!! I love this Kanye, I have a feeling this Kanye is coming back. Thanks to those Sunday Services he has on those hills or woods or whatever mountain top he has it! Lol It’s genuinely inspiring🙂
Tashlivesby Grace this video is almost 9 years old, this was way before he started doing Sunday service

Pure magic..
Only Ye could mix in some raunchy ass lyrics and it's still a masterpiece.
Songs don't get worse, people's tastes in them change. This song is still on the top of lots of lists after all of this time.
Listen to Slow Jamz, Spaceship, Last Call, Touch the sky, Diamonds from Sierra Leone, Hey Mama, Roses, I wonder, Stronger, Big Brother, Welcome to Heartbreak, Street Lights,
His magnum opus is My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Imo
Some classics have gotta be power, stronger, and most of kids see ghosts. All really cool songs/albums. I’m also relatively new but those are just some of my favorites including this song.

Runaway Pt. 2 ua-cam.com/video/c_JKgzGMSfk/v-deo.html
With the last sentence, I’d say that we gotta face ourselves, not run away. If we keep running away from ourselves, we’re only going to run into even more problems. When we stop to take a look at ourselves and see that the problem was us, we can then start on working on being our own solution to our own problems. If that makes sense.
