    When you think Panda Express is athuentic Chinese food and you watch this.

    • @MrMilanoLau
      @MrMilanoLau 8 років тому +2

      What do they serve? Panda?

    • @Goldenkitten1
      @Goldenkitten1 8 років тому +17

      To be fair I think there's a time and place for Panda Express and places like it. As long as you recognize it's not authentic there's really no harm in enjoying it as long as the food is good, and if you're in a rush the convenience is nice. I think people make far too big a stink about how if you eat at a place like that you're somehow committing a food taboo and should be hung, when the reality is you're just eating food that comes from a different inspiration.

    • @Goldenkitten1
      @Goldenkitten1 8 років тому +5

      Ken Foo Somehow I get the feeling you're just jumping on the bandwagon. Panda Express tastes and is about as authentic as most Chinese places that serve typical American/Chinese hybrid food, which is pretty much every "Chinese" restaurant in America. If you think some old guy putting on an accent to sound real counts is accurate I can't help you. As the video itself proves, even the most authentic restaurants don't serve the genuine article, just as close as you can get here.

    • @MasterFhyl
      @MasterFhyl 8 років тому +5

      No offense meant, but when I am in the mood for "Chinese food" (which is often) I honestly don't give a damn how "authentic" it is, I just care if it tastes good or not.

    • @simonli4484

    i gotta tell you Mike, i love watching your channel, i feel so bad that i only found this channel recently from the huge Pho challenge, i am a foodie but because i live in the midwest, things like authentic Chinese food have evaded my grasp through my childhood, one day i will rectify that and taste authentic dishes from various cultures, not the americanized crap that you see in fast food outlets like Panda Express.

    thats not double dipping thats just eating straight from the plate, double dipping is like if you have a bowl of chips and salsa you dip one take a bit and with that half eaten chip you dunk it back into the salsa, that is double dipping. if you're using the utensils that you eat with to scoop the food i don't really see much difference in basically eating straight out of plate as long as you're eating it all and and not eating something partially and then leaving it on that plate. also i used to not like the idea of eating straight out of the plate with the utensils you use to eat, but the more Chinese friends i made the more i was exposed to it and forced to deal with it

    Liangpi is actually made from wheat starch, which is extracted from the flour when you make a dough with it, then massage the dough in water until the starch and protein separate. The gluey, starchy batter is made into the noodles and then the protein is used to make the little chewy gluten bits in the dish.

      @anitamartell7698 8 років тому +9

      irishPEDOelf allergies are also known as allergic diseases because they are a hypersensitivity to something that affects your immune system in some way...this would include everything from hay fever, to rashes around the mouth after eating eggs or milk ( if allergic), Celiac's, and anaphylaxis. Also, when sending a child to school, if they have Celiac's, they are flagged with an allergy, just as anyone with another allergy would get flagged so that teachers & nurses know their body's will have some kind of immune response/allergic reaction.

    This was a lot of fun, and very informative. :)
    One little tip, though... you may want to change the thumbnail, as it may be affecting your view count. The thumbnail shows what looks like, at first glance, a meat sandwich with a giant green worm in it.

    Hope you read this. I love your posts and information.
    1. I LOVE cilantro. But a few people says to them it taste like soap. They use parsley. Cilantro is an incredible flavor. Parsley is often used as only a garnish. I really feel for people who don’t like Cilantro. But it is amazing. Their loss.
    Point 2. I have Celiacs disease. I can’t eat glutens primarily from wheat. It is not a choice in diet. This has been with me since early childhood. Good news is rice noodles and any rice is fine. I know potatoes and corn are products from the America’s but those are also foods are also gluten free. Quinoa is from the America’s.
    Mikey, like you said most Asian people don’t have a lot of dairy available and hence are lactose intolerant, wheat didn’t grow in Scotland and Norway.
    Trust me, this isn’t a fad for me. I really can’t eat wheat/glutens without the very nasty results. So don’t bash that problem.
    Also, I love spicey foods. And I love your vids!

    Fresh rice noodles are my absolute favourite noodles! Also gluten is used to make mock meats which is great for vegetarians and vegans! This video made me hungry! And yes I love cilantro but we call it coriander here in Australia.

    So, I watch you guys on all your channels and I've noticed that Dan has done a couple cooking bits (with tasty looking noms) and I would love it if you guys could do some shows on cooking traditional dishes. Living in Iowa has cut me off from all kinds of good things and I've had to learn how to make all the stuff I want to eat. And learning to make more traditional Chinese food is something I am all over! =3

    Some of the Best foods can be found in the Dives or the 'Hole in the Wall' type food places ;)
    You don't go there for the ambiance but for the food and the prices are affordable which are the main points of eating there.
    If you're a food snob, then why bother leaving your house? Just cook food yourself.

    Oh wow. I actually come from the "Other Side" of Main, up by Queens Blvd (moved out over a decade ago) and my folks always went to the Northern Blvd side for Asian food because it was real, not like take out places with beef n broccoli.
    There's a Korean restaurant not far from Golden-Market behind the library on Kissena called Woo Chon. Absolutely AMAZING food. It's been years since I've been back (family has passed away and most of my friends also moved out of the city) but I never had a bad meal there.
    I really need to get back, I live in Montana now and well ... yeah I need to get back get my fix :D
