    There is something really fascinating about Mike when he engages into in-depth food monologues x)
    Thanks for the video man! It's 4 AM in Germany and I'd be willing to fly to China right now to satisfy my sudden urgency for a fried dough/soup combo breakfast. And that egg/bread monster looks sooooo delicious oh my god! Dude your breakfast game is on fire!

      I agree, Mike is totally engaging and entertaining! The egg/bread thing is basically savory crepe which they make from scratch here in Flushing, NY. The chef pours a thin batter over hot flat skillet then when the batter starts to solidify, he cracks an egg over it and scrambles it. Then adds other fillings like sausages, crunchy fried dough, sauce, etc. Yummm

      +Spencer Shortwave You need to go to Tianjin, and try the dofunao there. When my grandfather told me that tianjin dofunao is completely different, I didn't believe him as the two cities are so close together. Only when I went back to Tianjin myself to try it, did I realize how big the difference really is. Beijing dofunao just doesn't compare, it's like the difference between mcdonalds and a 3 michelin star restaurant =/

    I've always felt that in regards to breakfast items, I definitely lean towards Chinese and Japanese breakfast items.
    I hate things like cereal, scrambled eggs or sunny side up, I don't like hash browns or toast, not big on sausage and I only like pancakes, waffles and bacon, but on rare occasions.
    I much prefer to have noodle soups. I love drinking warm broth early in the morning. And love a light soup to start my day off and warm by belly and throat.
    That hot pocket thing looks so good!! I need to either learn where to buy these in bulk or learn how to make them. Also, the soup looked really good as well.

      Funkymonk Warsong Earl Grey is my go to tea if I am drinking it alone or with sweet desserts. If not, I usually default back to my habit of drinking green tea. Hm... Prefer older green teas as they have milder flavour.

    Being an ABC, Korean and Japanese seem to be more of the cool Asians...and I always wondered why us Chinese were falling behind when it came to popularity...after than your typical Chinese takeout. your definition of cool needs to be reevaluated

    • @ayin9260
      @ayin9260 7 років тому

      sweet okole Yeah? Why is that? Are you telling me I can't have my own view or feelings of what seems cool and what doesn't....hmm....well, that's just not cool.
      I think you have to understand that even ABCs will experience things differently from each other based on what goes in their lives and what they're exposed to. Therefore, one's definition of cool can be definitely be from different from the next person's. That's why different generations may consider, for example, different forms of entertainment to be "cool." And I don't see what's wrong with that in the slightest, but would be open to hear you elaborate.

    • @usedpedals
      @usedpedals 8 років тому +2

      +Serjo777 the tofu brain is not a home-made food item. you have to go to a food stall or a resterant to have it. although white pepper soup is not complicated to make.

      +Serjo777 You can buy Tofu kits as well, definitely worth trying, real good to have a nice stash of Tofu lol, the stuff can get expensive for sure, homemade for the win, go to a store or market you'll find it there.

    • @muzzbrudr
      @muzzbrudr 8 років тому

      Serjo777
      Thats a good price, similar in my country but I live with a whole bunch of vegans (im not though) and go through quite alot.

    • @icesilverwind
      @icesilverwind 8 років тому +3

      +Serjo777 Look for the tofu in clear plastic packets, not the square ones in hard containers. You're looking for the softest ones you can find. It won't be authentic, still, but the liquid ones are close. Cook those, then add the special salty broth + green onion (not cooked) + whatever he lists above. Serve hot.
      The reason it's hard to make, is that the store probably makes the tofu and the broth at the store, so the texture and flavor are hard to replicate, especially if you have never had it before.

    Savory breakfast is the best! In Korea breakfast is even a bit more 'hardcore' (for Western standards) than in China. We have meat and stuff with our pickled veggies. The base are rice and soup, for those who prefer it 'lighter'. My colleagues at work used to give me the nasty 'Ewww...' looks when I had mine at the office.

    煎饼果子必须是天津的最正宗 北京的煎饼果子 居然还有加烤肠的 而且最正宗的煎饼一定要用绿豆面摊 天津本地人还依然坚持选用绿豆面做糊 超级赞

      其实我觉得还有另外一个也需要品尝的早餐 天津的锅巴菜 在热气腾腾的咸味打卤酱里 放上又脆又绵的锅巴和香气扑鼻的黄花菜 经过温度融化 锅巴会逐渐变软 然后淋上麻将或香油 最后放上香菜 搞定 绝对美味且解饱哈 能量满满

    I love vids that teach me things that I didn't know - and I also yearn to experience the vicarious pleasure of others exploring the food / holidays (vacations) / experiences that they have loved - so may I therefore give this upload 11 out of 10 because it ticks all of the relevant boxes ? : ))

      I think it's pretty common in the south too. My parents are from there and if we buy fried dough as the first priority, cold sweet soy milk HAS TO go with it. If we have congee, it's a very nice addition.
