Irene has the most look a likes cuz the girl is the standard for korean female beauty standards. All of her features match to the standards. When companies make idols look very close to the standards but still have individualities. Since Irene is the standard, her looks are like the “base” for the rest of idols to look like. This is just what I think tho 💀✨

Sm have the best concepts I said what I said. They have the most impressive storylines (for example exo's entire career and mv's have been based off a storyline starting from their debut to obsession) and the mv's never disappoint, they all hold a meaning behind them
They also love mistreating their idols

I think, It's just SM taking advantage of these funny rumours.
Idol's looking like some other idol's, it's just one can say many people look alike because each country, geographical differences make each place people have some same features. Like eyes shaped different, fair or dark skin depending on distance from equator and temperature (I am not so good remembering all real names, I just know but forget. Please forgive me).
Irene is Beauty standard in Korea. Or in other words, common face(?). Also makeup. These makeup makes things change. With little makeup they can change face shade, eyeliner put in such way to highlight eyes. Facial shape is also main factor. With same facial shape, have a little similar hairstyle, a little makeup and I believe one can be little like anyone. It's not hidden that plastic surgery is there. I am not saying all have them, but it's not impossible to have a little here and there, like to fix nose, lips etc. It's not necessary company make them do, idol's at there younger times or trainee times could have gone for it.
Is it possible that the belief of only doing endogamy marriages have a effect on facial features too? One will continue having same DNA, maybe genes too(?). I think it might be one reason too. I can be fully wrong. I know nothing much. It's just my opinion. I have no scientific knowledge. Sorry if anything is just nothing but a fantasy. Correct me.

Of course SM clones all their idols! They have a huge underground lab for it too, it's really expensive but they cut costs by sharing it with YG. It's a win-win for both companies - SM can clone in peace and YG has a place to put all their talented artists.
All Sci-Fi conspiracies aside, "cloning" can be achieved through plastic surgery, altough i doubt that so many teenagers would be willing or allowed to go through such extreme measures that young purely for visual aesthetic

SM literally trains on everything from walking, poses, talking and smiling so they will look perfect from all angles at all times.

They all get the same plastic surgeries...thats probably the whole mystery. They all have the ideal doll like appearance that seems to be so important in k-beauty.
At first I was like 'No way!' and now I'm actually considering it. I think maybe companies, when scouting, look for people who match the looks of former stars who have succeeded or pleased the public. I mean everyone loves Irene's looks so it makes sense that companies would want people who resemble her in their group. That's my conclusion, I'll believe the cloning theory in a few years (or decades) when it's actually possible.

and I don’t know if you guys noticed but in almost every new NCT era and sub unit, mark, taeyong, doyoung, etc always look different in their faces, it’s like if SM was truly making clones, we know that they can’t make the clone look exactly like the first person, so it would make sense on, for example, why mark looks like a different version of himself then the first person, that would fit in to him being able to be in all sub units? all of those different units of him, all look so different and that creeps me out, especially when the members are seen malfunctioning in videos along with the Dream members? lol jisungs and jenos eyes doing weird shit? when the NCT kick it video came out they all looked so robotic to me lol and in doyoungs parts of the video he looked so robotic and he almost didn’t look real, his eyes were scaring me.. that shit gave me the chills 🤣

the explanation for this is so much simpler tho, I know you're just entertaining theories but if anyone believes this hardcore, please consider this, casting members for a new group that resemble other past very popular recognizable members and soloists is a sure way to get promotion, specially if the idol the resemble is attractive. They also follow a very standard set of attractive features that are highly praised in korea which narrows how much variety in features you can have so they end up resembling each other more often. A clear sample of this for westerners are all the hollywood era of beauty standards and how many actors /actresses look a lot like each other even today, because they become popular for following that set attractive standard from each epoch
do you know the web drama called "One fine week"? it's all about a 1 female idol and she have a sick. she need someone to replace her to attend couple show something like that and one girl appears and she look exactly like her but she is not her twin nor relative.

It's kinda weird and interesting topic at the same time... I love kpop, and i don't want to believe in such things, but recently i saw a theory that Wendy from Red Velvet died and now she's been replaced by a clone, that's why Wendy's appearance changed "a lot"... I mean it is strange theory that i can't believe, but sometimes I look at Wendy's photographs and get scared.( no hate, only LOVE♡)
That is just a fake conspiracy theory. K-pop is pulling something called familiarity marketing like other entertainment industries ex Hollywood. When one visual becomes hits, the other company will try to scout or hire new fresh rookie who has similar features to get fair share of the profit pie. Consumers (fan etc) who are well familiar with that visual will have attachment or awareness of their feature has high tendency to lean on or pay attention to new fresh rookie. It is hard to become new visual appeal hits in the industry full of visuals. Let's look back why wendy and joy took time to become popular despite their visual are on same par with Irene. Irene has benefits of previous sm senior while seulgi's visual is hit thank to monolid trend on rising especially in k-drama (2013). Plus Seulgi-Irene pair just give similar but not exactly same appeal to consumers. While Joy and Wendy is newest visual appeal in idol market. But Joy visual does bear resemble actress Kim YooJung from the actor market.
When an idol has lookalike people swooned and get attached more, that familiarity visual pushes popularity and attracted audiences
