Years ago Freddie was our tour guide. Taught me everything about Bourbon. Meat Church a great place to see and a barrel selection. I’ll sign up for a BbQ and bourbon class in a heartbeat!!!
Hell Yeah @g54b95! Makes ya really sit back and think about the life we live and how good and simple it needs to be in this day and age. Time to crack a bottle and have a few pours tonight! Cheers to you. And thank you Matt for this video!
What a great experience! Years ago, my sister worked at a liquor store and her boss (the owner) let her go to Kentucky for a bourbon distillery tour and to pick out a barrel at Buffalo Trace for the store. The one she ended up picking was casked on her 18th birthday. Buffalo Trace kindly made special stickers to put on the bottles saying "Meg's Birthday Barrel." The store even got the barrel to put on display. Once all the bottles were sold, her boss let her have the barrel, which she and my brother-in-law made into a high-top table.
Matt, native Kentuckian here and part of the Meat Church congregation, I am proud to see you partaking in the pride of my state and proud to be part of the your bbq legacy. God bless, sir. Cheers!
The bourbon community is so awesome. To be able to introduce and share bottles is what I love about it. I have met so many great people in this journey.
The friends that I've met through bourbon and BBQ are irreplicable. Freddie is a national treasure and such a joy to be around. Keep up the good work, sir. Cheers.
Great video, the wife and I have been there several times and we were fortunate to have Freddie as our guide. He is one of the best story tellers in the business. Now the wife and I need to make our way to Texas!
Great video! Buffalo Trace is one of my happy places. Such beautiful grounds and the liquid gold of delicious bourbon. The first time I went Freddie was our tour guide. He makes you appreciate the bourbon even more and even better you get to taste at the end.
I've been a fan of Matt and Meat Church since the first barbeque class at TX Whiskey years back. I've also had the pleasure of touring Buffalo Trace last year. I didn't have the same VIP tour, but did get a chance to say hello to Freddie and take a selfie with him. Hands down, this is the best video so far that Meat Church has ever put out. Great stuff!!
Wow. As a bourbon connoisseur, and also someone who loves to grill and smoke meat, I absoultley loved this video. Freddie talking at the end gave me chills with his words - so well spoken and a true hall of famer. I've never tried a single barrel 107 pick but I know it's probably is fantastic. Cheers to good bourbon, great food, and even better friendships!
One of my favorite videos to date! Buffalo trace is one of my favorite places to visit! Such a well done video, love seeing Freddie there! Thanks Meat Church.
Was just there last week. It's truly like a religious experience if you're a bourbon fan. I sent my daughter to college there in 2020 so she could study horses and I could go visit from Az and experience all the bourbon history. Loved this video...Freddy did our first tour 4 years ago...absolutely a treasure of a man. God Bless.
I visited Buffalo Trace Distillery a few weeks ago. My Wife and I and another couple we're friends with spent a week in Bardstown Ky visiting distilleries along the "Bourbon Trail". Good BBQ & Bourbon are two of my favorite things as well Matt !
What a great day and a great message. I have been on several tours at Buffalo Trace and they are always amazing. Maybe someday I will get to pick a barrel. As you and Freddie discussed, it’s about the prep and care and time that create great bbq and bourbon, I keep thinking the love is in the smoke. All the best Matt and Freddie.
Absolutely outstanding! Had the pleasure a few years back to do a tour with Freddie. Simply one of the finest humans I've ever met. If I could only smell 2 things ever again - bourbon and bbq would do it for me.
This was really great. It's pretty great that so many people share the same love of BBQ and whiskey, and that there are so many parallels between them. Cheers!
"I'm getting notes of delicious" made the video for me lol. What an experience. I got the goose bumps watching - especially the Weller selection. The salute at the end Freddie gave, the stories he has shared. Yep - that's a bucket list experience I hope to have one day.
Love that place. The bourbon smell that lingers over the entire property is not spoken about very much, but deserves to be acknowledged how amazing the smell is when you arrive
@@MeatChurchBBQwe visited the store in Waxahachie last Saturday. Missed seeing Matt but (didn’t really expect to) it was sure fun being there. Picked up a couple things while we were there. Waxahachie is such a cool town. The BT distillery is absolutely on our list!! Hope to see Freddie!! Definitely enjoy the product!!
Loved the preparation parallel discussed between bourbon and bbq. Truer words have never been said - the real enjoyment of both is about sharing the experience with family and friends. Really great video Matt - thank you for sharing.
Many famous distilleries in central Kentucky. I love having had the opportunity to live there and return for family visits. Thanks Matt for the stroll through my childhood.
Matt, Thank you for all the years of sharing your BBQ skills and cooking, with all of us! Now your Buffalo Trace Distillery video, well there’s nothing I can say but it fits hand in glove! Mike from Canada
While watching this video, Im in the Flinthills of Kansas with 6 briskets and 5 pork butts finishing on the smoker, enjoying a bourbon and a cigar. Excellent video Matt
Absolutely awesome video! Thank you for doing what you Matt and the Meat Church team do. Love the bbq and bourbon parallels and ode to memories around good people, good times and passion for our favorite pastimes.
Another banger video Matt. Thank you for the tour, that distillery is on my bucket list. Still working on liking bourbon, years ago we were at a car show in Bardstown Ky and visited several distillery’s,my thought was I’m going to buy something fresh……..still loving my beer. And Freddie was awesome.
Just an awesome video! Made me reminisce about all the great memories I’ve had around bbq and bourbon with close friends and loved ones. It made me even more excited for my sons to get older so I can share those moments with them… unfortunately it will be some time as they are 5 and 2 but that gives me a lot of time to pick out (and save up for) the perfect bottle to share with each of them as they become men! A special video Matt! Actually if you can spare one of each of those bottles, I’ll take them and save them both for the occasion of their first drink with dad! That would be special!
Great episode! I love both great BBQ and Buffalo Trace bourbon and this is something that my friends/family and I surround ourself with to also create great memories. Nothing gets closer to heaven than that!
Great video. Hearing how relaxed he was with you and the crew just shows that a low and slow method works best to get great results. Also he knows like you do that not every thing is going to be the same every time and you have to adapt. Need a pairing video from your barrel now.
Well that felt like everything just slowed right down and got quiet for 18 and a half minutes. Eagle Rare is my favourite bourbon so it was super enjoyable to see where it’s made. Thanks gents.
Wow what an incredible video. Even though no cooking was done, this episode has to rank as one of my favorites. Thank you Matt for sharing such an amazing experience. It's a beautiful distillery and highly recommend going. Bourbon and BBQ are about the memories, bonds, and shared experiences. Cheers
This was such an awesome video! BBQ and bourbon truly are a pairing made in heaven. The passion you both have just oozes off the camera. Thank you for the content!! Now I need a bottle of that Antique 107 lol
Time. It’s something that all of us hate wasting day to day. But when it comes to our favorite hobbies like bourbon and bbq, it’s essential. Let it sit in that barrel a couple more years, let it sit in the smoker a couple more hours.
