EnvyMachinery Yep, but i think we all knew they'd only choose popular metal bands solos. Imo wintersun winter madness should be in any list of great solos. But i guess its all just opinions. :D
Mia Cassinelli Yeah, but I find it weird and annoying that lists like this and music awards in general only ever recognize the things that are the most well known in the US, as if a song charting is the only thing that matters. I feel like if you're going to rank things in an art form, you should be aware of more than what plays on the radio. I'm tired of Slipknot taking Grammies every year because no one has actually heard of any other metal band.
"I need to listen to one of the greatest metal solos ever created. Time for some slayer" said nobody, ever. Don't get me wrong. I love seasons in the abyss as much as anyone, but still....
A Change Of Seasons Fatal Tragedy Octavarium Metropolis Pt.1 These are one of the greatest solos I've ever heard from the Master John Petrucci himself It's a shame they didn't put any Petrucci solo in this list, instead we got Afterlife, Seasons In The Abyss, Children Of The Grave, these solos are not tasty, they're just brutal or fast. Petrucci always delivers the tastiest and most complex solos that any one would ever here in metal.
Jason Millsom I Agree But those solos I mentioned are really soulful yet so technical yet so tasty. Unlike the aforementioned songs on this list which are neither soulful nor tasty, they are just fast.
+TheStarvingSamurai just couldnt believe there was no kissing the shadows. like seriously. 3 amazing guitar solos(+keyboard solos), they leave you speechless.
+Exkhaterious Ra hm, maybe a keyboard/guitar solo section doesn´t count as a single guitar solo? Maybe... or the melodic death metal of COB is too specific for this video. At least the included Kalmah
It's amazing how many people on here have said they dislike Avenged due to their appearance being "gay" its actually embarrassing that we listen to the same music, Metal and heavy music is supposed to be about the outcasts sticking together not slandering people with homophobia. Rob Halford was gay, yet none of you have complained about Judas Priest being on this list. Get your head out your asses.

Kaydence Demers Rock? That's a sub-genre of blues. He isn't very bluesy, he's more classical oriented, which is closer to metal than rock. He definitely has metal stuff, they just picked a bad example. That commercial side...
Yngwie is a great player, but he is always playing to show everyone he's the best and I don't think he's got serious music, cause is all about him. Heavy metal is about bands, voice bass drums and guitar all together, not a guy showing everyone how fast and good he is. Not heavy metal. A show man

fakhri rinaldi I’ve played for 30 years and I can play Tornado but it’s damn near impossible to play with the right hand like Marty does.
Marty Friedman's picking style is beyond science
m.ua-cam.com/video/z92nyOfBG9g/v-deo.html
Painkiller is still the best guitar solo in my book, the one to make the hair (literally) stand up.
Nikita Dubrovskih True asf
Yet it's easily beaten by this: ua-cam.com/video/vi7cuAjArRs/v-deo.html
there is no such thing as the best guitar solo.
No, but there is such thing as a long list of terrible guitar solos that no one acknowledges.
Tony Powell SO true
Exactly , especially when they all sound the same and they all use same
kind of ' ' Shredding ' ' technique , trying to judge that one shredder is better
than another shredder here is complete Ludicrous , it's absolute Smegma
, more than often playing less note's is much better than more note's it's
called good taste having class , a unique style , but if you're a complete
head bashing shit rocking fucktard with nothing but spunk for brains i suppose none that would matter !!! HA , HA , , , AAAAARRRRGGGHHH !!!!!!!
the final countdown
obviously you've never heard any nirvana.
wow! Great job showing the actual solos instead of giving us history lessons that we already know
marty friedman is the best.
Marty is good
Marty guitar scale n riff is exotic ......
he's good but not the best.
***** they are both good, there is no need to compare them
yeah but I like Chris Poland more tho.His style suited Megadeth more
my top 2 would obviously have to be
1. Lil Wayne
2. Nick Jonas
oh Stevie t.
😂😂😂i know where you've Just arrived from.... Stevie T
So amazed that they even mentioned “the blind leader” in the beginning!!!And TOS is definitely worthy of the top spot; I’ve always loved that masterpiece.
I'm just going to add hard rock in there too. I mean you have to because they are so many genres, how can you choose what is what, might as well make it your hard rock/metal station.
14. Stranger In A Strange Land- IM (hm)
13. Cemetery Gates- Pantera (hm)
12. Kiss Of Death- Dokken (hm)
11. November Rain- GNR (hm)
10. Stairway To Heaven- LZ
9. Touch Too Much- AC/DC
8. Panama- VH
7. All AlongThe Watchtower- JH
6. Stone Cold- Rainbow
5. Love To Love - UFO
4. Fade To Black- Metallica
3. Limelight - Rush
2. Comfortably Numb- PF
1. Mr. Crowley- Ozzy
Kalmah..AWESOME.
Finally I see someone on this page that feels the same as me. I thought it'd never happen
Cole Stubbs And then they didn't even give them anything, but still showed Dragonforce.
EnvyMachinery this is a U.S. website, brainiac
Top 10 best heavy metal solos...."Now here we have Slayer"
Seasons In The Abyss is amazing
raining blood solo intensifies
That would be a bit like: Top 10 Metal Drumsolos, here's Metallica
if nickelback and black veil brides aren't on this list it's not a metal list
Nickelback isnt even metal
Collin Richardson THEY'RE THE 2ND MOST METAL BAND EVER AFTER BLACK VEIL BRIDES!! CHAD AND ANDY ARE MY SAVIORS!!!!!!!!!!
really
+Collin Richardson tru
Sorry but Blood On The Dance Floor is way better
"I need to listen to one of the greatest metal solos ever created. Time for some slayer" said nobody, ever.
Don't get me wrong. I love seasons in the abyss as much as anyone, but still....
Its more like i want to hear an outrageous 80s solo
Seasons in the abyss actually has a solo that is good.
No Testament? Alex Skolnik is one of the best thrash guitarists out there!
Return to serinity
Love Testament! Turned on to them by Souls of black in the 90's. Early Trivium has badass riffs and solos too.
Totalmente de acuerdo, creo que un solo de Testament le puede ganar mínimo a 4 de esta lista. Cualquiera del álbum Souls of black.
So many lies
"This is a heavy metal list!" Proceeds to include Yngwei Malmsteen.........
Lmao hes neoclassical metal not heavy metal
Is Metal All The way.
@Channel G neoclásical Metal is Metal
the avenged sevenfoldd guitarist
*NIKKI SIXX MUCH?*
You realized Nikki sixx was the bassist of motley crue right?
ZakFrost yes sir I most certainly did. But the guitarists looks alot like him
You meant Mick Marrs!
U mean Mick mars
@@six1384 no he means nikki sixx, he doesn't think that it is Nikki Sixx BUT that the guitarist LOOKS LIKE Nikki Sixx
Zakk Wylde No more tears!
wish it was a bit longer...then it surely would have been there
I put "Miracle man" solo over no more tears.
@@cogitationescaecae1125 Absolutely agree. Miracle Man has an amazing solo!
I do believe that by one song per artist, watchmojo meant one song per band...so there was not a chance it was ever going to appear over Mr Crowley...
Come on!! You got to make a Top 10 BASS SOLOS!
Freewill by Rush,
NIB by Black Sabbath
All these Rage Against the Machine songs to choose from...
Metallica's late, great bassist, Cliff Burton. His bass solos rivaled Kirk Hammett's guitar solos.
fry guy Cliff Burton,buddy...
Thanks, mate. Corrected. I ran that one from memory.
Les claypool. The man too good for Metallica
Peace Sells.
No Solos from St. Anger?
sarcasm detected
Allen El I feel you bro
I feel you ;)
Dima Shady I know, the Shoot Me Again solo was amazing.
lmao
Dima Shady I hope you're joking XD
You guys shouldn't be allowed to touch metal
Metalynca _ ikr
Metalynca _ lololol.
They shouldnt touch anything
Someone's butthurt cause their band didn't make it on the list.. 🤣
@@wrongwaydownaonewaystreet2147 😂
This is definitely one of most satisfying Top 10 I've ever seen. Thanks watchmojo!
Floods were supposed to be 1
No, megadeth and Metallica make better solos.
Its my Opinion sir. Megadeth and Metallica are Overrated
noopt19 in my opinion, pantera is great, but overrated as fuck. they only have like 6 good songs.
Nah more like 6 CDs
lol he said only 6 good songs smh.
DOMINATION!
#1 tornado of souls
#2 mr crowley
#3 painkiller
#4 domination
#5 the duellists
#6 sanitarium
#7 Cowboys from hell
#8 damage inc
#9 a new level
#10 lucretia
Marty is humble! He has always had my respect and he thinks outside the box. These things make a true artist.
A Change Of Seasons
Fatal Tragedy
Octavarium
Metropolis Pt.1
These are one of the greatest solos I've ever heard from the Master John Petrucci himself
It's a shame they didn't put any Petrucci solo in this list, instead we got Afterlife, Seasons In The Abyss, Children Of The Grave, these solos are not tasty, they're just brutal or fast. Petrucci always delivers the tastiest and most complex solos that any one would ever here in metal.
Musical Geek solos dint have to be complex to be good
Jason Millsom
I Agree
But those solos I mentioned are really soulful yet so technical yet so tasty.
Unlike the aforementioned songs on this list which are neither soulful nor tasty, they are just fast.
Glasgow Kiss is awesomeness *sluuurrrrp*
yeah I agree the afterlife solo is overrated as fuck, but syn has many better solos with lots of soul like second heartbeat, M.IA., the stage, etc
@@PedroVieira-jv2ef M.I.A. +__+
can we for once see a "Top 10 Death Metal Bands" List???
Fuck yes.
Do you mean death metal or deathcore? xD
make a video for the best guitar solos of 2000-2016
All nightmare long #1
Kissing the Shadows is No 1
+Svil Buscus Or Trough the Fire and the Flames
St. Anger is number one
this wont work, actually there wasnt real good metal after 2000
I love cemetery gates by Pantera, in my opinion one of the best!
List of best metal solos...yet there is not a single mention of Chuck Schuldiner. Lel
Ps. Best metal solo is in Flesh and the Power it holds but Morbid Angel- where the slime live is a close second
Where the fuck is Death?!
A moment of clarity
Trent Stines
Death is not -heavy- metal
Nick Auditore Slayer isn't heavy metal too
Kissing The Shadows - Children of Bodom! All kinds of fantastic solos from CoB.
+TheStarvingSamurai defenitily missing the kissing the shadows solo...
+TheStarvingSamurai
just couldnt believe there was no kissing the shadows. like seriously.
It's a great solo, but it's not entirely guitar. I think they consider keyboard not valid for the list or whatever. But it could surely replace ax7.
+TheStarvingSamurai Yup definitely the first thing that came to mind.
I don't dislike A7x because they look gay, I dislike them because their music is shit. :/
***** how so what? just listen to their music
***** my explanation is their music. just compare their solo to the rest of the list.. shouldn't even be there.. are you a fan? i'm sorry if I offended you, but A7x really is crap :\
***** it sounds bad, emo'y.. come on, you can't really think they are as good as the other band on the list ..
Because the music Judas Priest delivered and keeps delivering isn't gay?
for metallica I would put "blackened"
Yeah, but if instrumentals were included we’d have to put the Orion bass solo
@@Copp.r it says guitar solos
Or Creeping Death
Unforgiven.
Wherever I may roam
where is domination by pantera
🔫😡
Yeah domination was way better
Your emojis are out of order
These mainstream creators don't understand it's awesomeness!
Wyatt Okane what about Cowboys From Hell?
Only 1 solo per band.
I just love the way you talk over the actual solo. Crap vid. 1 minute in and I boycott.
A top 10 list of heavy metal guitar solos that doesn't include Laiho is not a list I agree with
Jake Johannesen maybe something from hatebreeder or are you dead yet?
That's a damn good list.
Wtf how is this even accurate I mean lil Wayne is obviously number 1 this isn't even a Real list without him unlike all these other bands he actually has talent
Brandon Trevino Your's is the most underrated comment of all the comments on this video. This comment should be #1!
Brandon Trevino They excluded him from this list to give the rest a fair shot. Otherwise it would just be made up entirely of his ingenious revolutionary playing.
Brandon Trevino LMFAO theres one video out there where they play Andy
James over lil waynes kick ass solo funny as hell
SOUTH PARK010 I think you may need to find a dictionary and look up a little word called "Sarcasm" and maybe if you have time another called "Joking". Happy reading!
This troll tho
Ride the Lightning is the greatest solo Kirk ever wrote
It's Mustain's...
Zika Stankovic you also think that Dave wrote some of the mop songs too hm?
Fy'Raka Sure I do. K. Hammett have no talent for such a thing! Salute.
Zika Stankovic well maybe kirk isnt the best riff writer and he never was, but Cliff, James and Lars compensated for that. Kirk can write really good solos tho
Its not Mustaines solo, but yeah he has influenced some of the riffs in RTL
"After much debate, we settled on One."
*They just went to the one dude who kinda knows metal in the office and asked him what metallica solo is the best*
1 Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath
2 Powerslave-Iron Maiden
3 How Many More Times-Led Zeppelin
4 Megalomania-Black Sabbath
5 Rime of the Ancient Mariner-Iron Maiden
When I saw Powerslave at #10 I knew this list was gonna suck.
NO
NO
NO
HOW THE FUCK IS AVENGED SEVENFOLD BETTER THAN IRON MAIDEN?!
HUYwazsfdegrchtjynmkn,nlö
I agree with you. Iron Maiden should have been above A7X
judas priest and slayer on a guitar solo video are you kidding me...
If they had replaced it with Death's version of pain killer I'd agree ;)
Damn shame that Death didn't make it on this list. Chuck is such an underrated master of the axe.
I am happy with Megadeth at the top xD
Wish it had been Peace Sells, or Wake Up Dead, though.
I am too. They need some recognition at the end of the day too. They have feelings.
You and I both. I will always like the second solo from Hangar 18. Marty Friedman is a weird dude..love it.
@@bobby1970 Man..wake up dead. That solo gets me every time.
@@bobby1970 that time Chris Poland was the guitarist
n the solos r really nice but Peace Sells had multiple solos
also on the other hand Rust in Peace is their best record
so it had to be Tornado of Souls
Some of my favorite solos of all time.
Iron Maiden - Prisoner,number the beast,powerslave,transylvania,wasted years
Judas Priest - Beyond the realms of death, painkiller
Randy Rhoads- Crazy train
Metallica - Fade to Black,One and sanitarium
Dio - Rainbow in the dark.
Rainbow - kill the king
Kalmah - Blind leader
Megadeth - Tornado of Souls.
Motorhead - Stone dead forever.
Insomnium - in the halls of awaiting
Avenged Sevenfold - Afterlife.
Black Sabbath - paranoid
You missed The Sentinel for Priest and Children of the Damned for Iron Maiden.
4:15 if this is Heavy Metal I'm Batman
powerslave is good but I think hollowed be thy name was a more amazing solo imo
I expected Afterlife to be on here, lol, such a great song with a great solo
You read my mind
so much talking, cant hear the actual solos.
Maiden only #10? That's a joke. Top 3 at least.
+JrFreak300 Maiden was AT LEAST better than A7X...
+JrFreak300 Im not a big A7X fan but i would say that afterlife solo is really good.
amen

Don't mean to be pedantic but wasn't One released in 1988?
Fender Johns no,it was January of 1989
我。
Ángya Norbert
Depends on if you are talking about AJFA album or One single. The album was released in 1988 but the single was released in 1989.
This was a Really good top ten!! Seems like the people / person who put this together knew the genre well!
I love how this is possibly the only ranking video for music where the comments all agree with the number one choice.
Errr? Hallowed Be Thy Name, where the fuck are you?!
bad list makers
Trekkie 135 Dance of death solo>hallowed solo
Voice of Reason never heard it
I don't think any other metal song when I am listening to hallowed be thy name...it's the definition of metal...dark ..and deep...Dance of death is probably one of my favourite metal ballads ...!!!
How about the solos from Beyond the Realms of Death or Touch of Evil?
How is Yngwie considered heavy metal? Just wondering
Kaydence Demers He is Neo-Classical Metal. It's metal.
Kaydence, How old are you? I am an old fart of 50 and what I called Metal as a kid in the early 80's, wasn't new. Go back to 1970 BlackSabbath, Purple and Zeppelin. Thats where it all started.
Steve Reigate I know what good metal is. I like Zeppelin and Sabbath. But in my head Yngwie is considered rock.
A show man
I like Floods but I think Domination should have been on the list instead
The Sleep
i really love domination but after listening floods i realized it was my new favorite solo from dime.
For me, it's a battle to death between "The Sleep" solo, and "Cemetery Gates" solo. Man, Dimebag decease seriously was a big hit to metal music
Its between 3 for me. Floods the sleep and avoid the lights
Speed+feel+real technical difficulty = Marty Friedman. Real Complete Guitarist
