Timeless. This video is 2 yrs old, and STILL helpful. I was watching it simply to see what size hex nut or something I needed, no tools required, even better. 👍🙏
Thank you for posting this, I just replaced my engine air filter after watching this, and it was extremely easy. I also just replaced my rear trunk lift supports after watching another DIY video on how to do that which was also very easy. Really appreciate you and others like you who post these types of videos. Thank you again👍
Thank you! I'm planning on doing most of my maintenance on my 4 runner and it's great seeing everything out there. It helps that everything it easy and I have a lot of clearance under the car.
I have a 2014 4Runner limited for future needs where do you recommend buying the engine air filters from? I already bought a replacement cabin air filter from autozone.
I'm sure this questions is subjective to the usage of the 4Runner but how often should the sir filter be changed? Is it time, mileage or just checking in on it to see what it's condition is? Awesome video overall! Thanks.
looked like new Fram filter already had a pre-filter attached to the bottom of it. So if that is true, you can discard the existing one along with old filter
No. It's called a pre-filter and it's there as an added layer of protection for the filters of vehicles that are driven in severe conditions. It stops larger pieces of debris from getting stuck in the filter's pleats and prematurely restricting airflow. It's a well-intentioned addition for certain makes and models.
I do it every second oil change. It also depends on how often you go off-roading. If you go in sand, I'd recommend at least taking it out and giving it a few pats and lightly vacuuming it.

Short and to the point. Watched the video and changed the air filter on my 4runner in less than 5 minutes. Thank you!
Thank you. Dealer showed me a stock photo of a dirty filter, making it seem like it was my filter, and wanted to charge $75.
Wow, thank you!!!! Now I can change my own air filter without the auto shop trying to con/charge me for extra BS; gas cap, etc.
Immediately to the point, I love it. Thank you!

Yeah you'll get a lot of different answer on that one. I'd say every year or so is probably fine
10,000 miles with heavy driving or living in a dusty or high air particle area to 15-20,000 with light driving in a less dusty area
Thank you Sr!
Hey quick question...I noticed a foam in the bottom of the filter ...do you take it off or leave it on ??
looked like new Fram filter already had a pre-filter attached to the bottom of it. So if that is true, you can discard the existing one along with old filter
Thanks a lot for sharing.
Do you remove that thicker piece of filter that’s attached to it??
No. It's called a pre-filter and it's there as an added layer of protection for the filters of vehicles that are driven in severe conditions. Would this be the same for a 2021 ?
Does the orientation matter?
Does the foam help?
your stradman brother and can you visit him in a vid
My cover does open as easy as that, there are a few harnesses restricting it, anyone have same experience with 2021??
How often should you change your engine air filter?
Boom thanks
How often do you change your engine filter?
As needed, once a year on my application however.
I do it every second oil change.
It also depends on how often you go off-roading. If you go in sand, I'd recommend at least taking it out and giving it a few pats and lightly vacuuming it.
Dealer was going to charge me $40 for the engine air filter and $45 for the in cabin air filter haha
Wow dealer quoted me "$65" for the cabin filter alone , I told him I can buy 3 for your price for just one.
@@sparksglencoe2037 that’s absurd
Dealership wanted to charge me $150…
