H/H match update for 1426 and preview of the week ahead: ... This is week 286 of our favorite classic game show (the show ends with week 291 and episode number 1455), so there are just *5 more weeks* (gasp) after this one. These episodes were taped on February 11, 1979 and originally aired from April 2 through April 9 of 1979. This week, Brett & Charles are in their places with bright, shiny faces, and they're joined by four familiar panelists, all of whom making their final week of appearances! (Yikes!) ~~~ *Joyce Bulifant* (last seen in eps 1386-1390) returns for her 38th and final week. Yes, we'll be saying goodbye and farewell to another semi-regular! So far her track record is excellent: 66.7% (4 matches in 6 attempts). I'd love to see her get a couple more questions in next week. ~~~ *Nipsey Russell* (last seen in eps 1376-1380) returns for his 28th and final week, so this is it for another core member of the Match Game family. Nipsey has in fact appeared on the show more than any other male guest panelist except for Gary Burghoff (Richard and Charles being regulars of course). He ends his "Match Game '7x" career in the same seat where it began back in episode 61: seat #1. He spent just one week in the #5 chair (1306-1310), and a number of weeks in #3, filling in for Charles. Only 5 panelists sat in all 3 "male" seats: Besides Nipsey, there was Dick Martin, McLean Stevenson, Gary Burghoff, and Richard Deacon. In the H/H, Nipsey hasn't been so lucky. He's answered 10 questions so far, scoring 2 matches. It'd be great if he could get a third match before week's end. ~~~ *Loni Anderson* returns for her 3rd and final week on the panel. We met Loni as a panelist the week of 1296-1300 and saw her again in 1341-1345. Loni had two attempts at the H/H (1298 and 1345) without scoring a match. ~~~ Last but not least, *Jack Jones* will return for his second and final week. He made his debut in the 5th seat back in 1366-1370, and will occupy that spot once again. The wheel never chose him during his first week. This feels like a decent week panel-wise with Brett and Charles and the cute and funny Joyce and our classy long-time panelist and poet Nipsey. Loni impressed me as a delightful, intelligent, and easy-going panelist her first two weeks, so she's certainly a welcome addition. Jack Jones apparently didn't make a huge impression on me (I'm too lazy to go back and read what I wrote for his first week). Losing four panelists in one week certainly demonstrates how close we are to the end. What's even scarier is that, counting today, there are only 20 shows left with Charles! ~~~Today's action: A clean start today, right at the top of a game. Question: Can you call it "Match Game" if there are no matches? Well, I exaggerate. The game ended in a 1-1 tie, but it felt like less. The tie-breaker went better, at least for the challenger, who wins 4-0. The departing champion had 2 victories and 1 H/H match with Brett, totalling $6,200. *Today's audience match question: "The________Sisters"* My thoughts: (Lennon, Andrew, Pointer) The celebs: Charles (Andrew), Nipsey (Lennon), Loni (Dolly*) - *"The Dolly Sisters" was an American movie with Betty Grable from 1945. The choice: Lennon - The audience applauds, but not wildly. The answers: Andrew, Pointer, Lennon - (I swept the board today!) Our new champ's first Audience Match goes well. But you know what? We're out of time! In honor of Nipsey (and to encourage him on) here are the celebs with exactly 2 matches (in alphabetical order): Each celebrity's total number of weeks on "Match Game '7x" along with his/her first and last appearance is indicated, and an asterisk before their name indicates they've "retired" from MG, and their H/H stats are now complete. Currently, only Nipsey and Bill Daily still have a shot of earning a third H/H match... (*)Patty Duke Astin - 2 out of 5 (40.0%) - (14 weeks total. First week: 371-375; Final week: 1371-1375) (*)Bob Barker 2 out of 5 (40.0%) - (8 weeks total. First week: 6-10; Final week: 1386-1390) (*)Charlie Brill - 2 out of 3 (66.7%) - (3 weeks total. First week: 281-285; Final week: 426-430) Bill Daily - 2 out of 5 (40.0%) - (15 weeks total. First week: 101-105; Final week: 1451-1455) (*)Richard Deacon - 2 out of 4 (50.0%) - (5 weeks total. First week: 316-320; Final week: 1386-1390) (*)Ann Elder - 2 out of 3 (66.7%) - (10 weeks total. First week: 51-55; Final week: 491-495) (*)Bonnie Franklin - 2 out of 4 (50.0%) - (4 weeks total. First week: 636-640; Final week: 1266-1270) (*)Stu Gilliam - 2 out of 5 (40.0%) - (2 weeks total. First week: 41-45; Final week: 51-55) (*)George Kennedy - 2 out of 2 (100%) - (5 weeks total. First week: 666-670; Final week: 1166-1170) (*)Jack Klugman - 2 out of 6 (33.3%) - (5 weeks total. First week: 1-5; Final week: 1321-1325) (*)Ken Olfson - 2 out of 4 (50.0%) - (1 week total: 1356-1360) (*)Richard Paul - 2 out of 7 (28.6%) - (5 weeks total. First week: 1236-1240; Final week: 1411-1415) (*)Donna Pescow - 2 out of 3 (66.7%) - (2 weeks total. First week: 1321-1325; Final week: 1411-1415) (*)Robert Pine - 2 out of 4 (50.0%) - (2 weeks total. First week: 1341-1345; Final week: 1381-1385) Nipsey Russell - 2 out of 10 (20.0%) - (28 weeks total. First week: 61-65; Final week: 1426-1430) (*)Trish Stewart - 2 out of 2 (100%) - (5 weeks total. First week: 206-210; Final week: 996-1000) ~~~Finally, here's our standing leader board showing the 13 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she or he has "retired" from the show and their H/H stats are now complete.) (For tied scores, the one with the greater number of matches is considered to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 matches in 4 attempts). (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 matches in 4 attempts). Joyce Bulifant - 66.7% (4 matches in 6 attempts). (*)Debralee Scott - 66.7% (4 matches in 6 attempts). Charles - 50.0% (45 matches in 90 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 50.0% (6 matches in 12 attempts). Elaine Joyce - 50.0% (3 matches in 6 attempts). (*)Betty - 47.2% (25 matches in 53 attempts). Fannie - 46.7% (21 matches in 45 attempts). (*)Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 matches in 18 attempts). (*)Richard - 42.5% (373 matches in 878 attempts). Brett - 40.2% (43 matches in 107 attempts). (*)Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 matches in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1426, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. (Note: episode 849 was never produced.) These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036. These stats do, however, include results of episodes 1309 through 1317, found on channels other than this one. (For missing episode 1406, the results of the second H/H have been revealed and are included in these stats, but it's unknown which celeb played the first H/H, which was not a match.)
sorry but confiscate, hold and seize are the same thing. sorry but cannon-shooter (yes, the hyphen is implied because she clearly did not mean a canon that shoots canons!!!) and canonball shooter is the same thing.
The watermelons for the boobs should’ve been correct as well... I think you’re right though although the more I looked at her her beauty was manufactured. There have been women on here no matter what hairstyle or make or no make up they were gorgeous. Only because of her hairstyle and makeup does she look decent but the more you look at her you really see her features which are great at all. Like look at Lonnie...a good looking woman no matter what... wet hair, make up off, etc...
Harrison Brown that’s what she said.. think about it... she said a cannonball shooter. The cannonball has to have a shooter.. she was correct and the judge was wrong..
This is the weekend, I think, the rumor of being canceled was going around and probably brought down the mood. Remember Gene says "You don't know what we being thou." in episode 1428, two episodes down from this one.. I think they knew this was getting towards the end.. sigh sad, they were getting back to the old days again with all the laughter and fun they have been having the last couple of weeks.. I wonder if Gene, Charles and Brett would have like to say goodbye to the fans like RD did on FF. I am guessing FF didn't go into Syn like MG did after daily was canceled, althou I guessing they still couldn't because who knows if they tapes thou the mail stay in order or not. They say goodbye at the end of one episode and then an episode before show up and is televise.. ;0)
By 18:40, you'll notice Dana is a tall Amazonian at 6'4". She towered over Gene Rayburn who was 6'1". Love how a hot female contestant is taller than the host.
Ira was an imbecile, as shown by both his quirkiness in judging, and more importantly, with his inexplicable reasons for keeping the old, obnoxious, cackling, camera-hogging hag Brett on the show.
I would have LOVED to have seen Brett in Betty's shoes at the beginning of yesterday's show just to see the "Grown Ups" on here act like 2 year Children
WOOOOW, did you see what Mr. know-it-all Gene did there.... when they dinged her on cannonball, he was all for it, and then when they buzzed it, see how fast he changed his tune. "Well, cannon and cannonballs are two different things." He actually DOES want people to think he knows everything.
Nipsey Russell is so 😎 I wish he had been a regular panelist, also I woulda liked to have seen Jan Smithers in the number four position (or any position). Here's some ol skool slang for ya, the statue was 🚬 a spliff
The celebrities have a little bar in front of them that lights up that says write or don’t write, so I’m sure it gives them the answers of what to say so the person can lose if they want too much money

Terrible decision by the judge on cannon / cannonball. For once, Joyce Bulifant's logic makes sense!
exactly right!
I'm so glad Dana Merchant won, she was beautiful! I look forward to seeing her on the next show
Bring back Foster Brooks!!

Confiscate means to seize.

I thought he'd want to cover it up!

Charles answer for the kinky omelette was the best!

Aren't sieze and confiscate the same thing ? Wouldn't that have been a match ?

sorry but confiscate, hold and seize are the same thing.
sorry but cannon-shooter (yes, the hyphen is implied because she clearly did not mean a canon that shoots canons!!!) and canonball shooter is the same thing.
They each got robbed of a point which means they were even anyway at the end. So it didn't really affect anything.
And Daisy should've won! Cannon ball/cannon...judge had the hots for Dana I think.

Surprised to find out the B in BDSM actually stands for Breakfast 🍳🤔🤔🤪
Hmm I didn't know that!
“Hold” and “seize” are the same thing as “confiscate.” And a cannonball shooter is a cannon. Ira gets two wrong in a row.
