I started Unity not at all liking it. I still don't think it's the best out there, but now, I absolutely love the game and can see what potential it had
Scarab. The story sucked, but the black box assassinations were *chef’s kiss* and Paris is unparalleled in the sense of life it gives as an environment. I still go in now and then just to walk the streets, leap the rooftops and help the people of the city.
Have you heard about assassin's Creed 1 undoubtedly the most underrated game from the series and the one that really would benefit the most from a remake or remaster
@joaolouro7997 Not underrated at all. It's the first and it's slower and more linear, with streamlined story due to the targets. Older, so could use the upgrade, but they need to expand on the missions as well instead of just upgrading.
I have played every Assassin's Creed game and this is my favorite one. Also, Arno Dorian is my favorite protagonist of this series as well as the setting and parkour. Is it perfect? Absolutely not but I love this game and I have enjoyed this one more than the others. I know that may be a hot take especially liking Arno the best but hey that's my opinion.
Honestly this has been my favorite AC game since I first played it. I never really watched game reviews before so missed a lot of the hate till late but just never understood the hate too.
Lol it's so funny to see in the footage our scarab used of Arno putting an end to Germain, the Hidden Blade doesn't appear. It truly became the Phantom Blade. 🤣🤣🤣
4:38 “What could have been the best AC game was never given that opportunity, purely due to Ubisoft’s insistence on a constant cash flow of assassin’s creed” What has changed honestly? Scarab.
Yo Scarab! Outstanding video as always, you make fantastic points and (perhaps for a change) I’m actually almost entirely in agreement with you Unity is what should have been a perfect AC game, I think the narrative needed another draft though to really polish it because at best it’s muddled. I love the Arno and Elise love story when you understand it’s intended to be a tragedy, and Bellec’s betrayal is so interesting. The French Revolution is a perfect setting for AC and yet the narrative didn’t really join up, a game where Assassins and Templars work together to influence the Revolution could have been fascinating and highlight the flaws with both ideologies, especially when they inevitably realise they can’t work together despite what Arno and Elise want, Bellec and Robespierre being foils for each other with Arno having to confront both with Bellec killing the Assassin mentor and Robespierre the Templar grandmaster so they could each take control of their respective organisations and go back to fighting each other (that’s how I would have written the story anyway) Paris is still an incredible city, the best in the franchise, but I wish the Revolution had a greater impact on the open world with those large crowds and public executions being more to interact with, people are starving and angry that shouldn’t have been limited to the black box missions although those were spectacular! As the Revolution continues some streets or whole areas could become more hostile and dangerous for Arno, maybe they start to recognise the outfits as he becomes more notorious and tangles in the Revolution giving a story reason for all the cosmetic options, and as we get to the climax in the story with The Terror the stealth is fundamentally more challenging with the citizens of Paris not trusting anyone and any high profile action being near instant death, a true test of social and traditional stealth. Also Connor gets a lot of criticism for “Forrest Gumping” his way through the American Revolution being at virtually every notable event and meeting practically all the historical figures you would expect, but Arno is the same! Maybe that’s Ubisoft trying to satisfy players though because these time periods are so well known that they want to include everything people would expect from the era Also I’m sure I’ve said this before on one of your videos and many other creators too but I will die on the hill that Ubisoft utterly wasted the build up from the Kenway Saga and this game by not doing a grand crossover in the Napoleonic War/War of 1812 with Arno, Shay, Connor and Aveline, imagine the MCU doing all the set up for the Avengers then just not doing it! They had so much potential that they’ve never realised. I can’t hold Unity at fault for that but it still makes me mad!
No matter the jank, Unity is still my fav AC to play. The core is just so fun and scratches an itch that none of the others before or after quite hit. Man I wish we could get back to this one day and have another shot at actually polishing these systems.
Unity is like a super high-budget movie that flopped horribly in the box-office. I just finished it today and I have mixed feelings. It starts as “the best game ever”. The graphics are incredible for it’s age. Fighting and parkour mechanics are really enjoyable. But the story falls flat and messy in many ways. There are so many characters that gets killed before we get to know them. For this much interconnected plots and characters, the game could have been a masterpiece with a little bit slower burning pace.
Basically the purpose of Unity is similar to the purpose of Rogue ..... That the Assassins vs Templar is not black and white but there are many shades of gray. No Good Guys, no Bad Guys, just guys .... This theme carries on a little bit in Origins (Aya's betrayal by Cleopatra for instance) but fully comes to a head in the end of AC Odyssey where Kassandra is told that neither side can be allowed to get the Apples of Eden and other powerful artifacts and that the truth is found in maintaining a balance between the Assassin world view and the Templar world view ..... The job of Keeper of the Staff of Hermes is to make sure neither side obtains the artifacts and thus total power and to maintain a balance between the two .... They should have ended Layla's story there because how they finished her arc in Valhalla was kind of dumb. The only thing it had in common with the overarching story is how the artifact in AC3 got to the Americas in the first place although that was alluded to in Rogue with the Viking sword collectibles and mentioned in the modern day story by one of the Templars (I forget which title off hand)
Unity’s location and time period is easily the most tragic thing about it. This had so much potential. This of list of shenanigans the Assassins and Templars could have done is damn near endless. The entire back half of this game could have just been the reign of terror. Assassins and Templars vying for power as more and more people are sent to madam guillotine. Instead all we really got was Louis’ execution and the down fall of Robespierre. That is a travesty.
Great video. I'll have to disagree on what you said about Arno's speech though. Admittedly it would have been much more suitable for the end of Dead Kings.
Ac Rouge is arguably the best one. The only problem with that game is that it's so short! Other than than it's nearly flawless in terms of an Ubisoft game IMO
It’s funny cause this is actually the best in the series and I knew it the moment I played it People are ungrateful and don’t see the worth in games It’s sad this game is only being celebrated now similar to GTA IV but hey that’s what separates true gamers vs. know it alls
Good mechanic but the best ac game is odyssey cause that’s the only ac game that was nominated in the game award in 2018 being compared to god of war an rdr2 an people going as far to say odyssey is the best ac game even though some fans don’t see it as a ac game but out of all the ac games that came out odyssey was the one being compared to a game like Witcher 3 and god of war rdr2
The story for unity wasn’t it for me in the beginning it was going somewhere but it lost it but fuck it ima redownload unity I just like how Aron look in Shay outfit
even though ac unity is a decade old i still love to free roam in paris
Yeah, I don't. It doesn't work for PS4/XBOX one, which was the base game systems.
@@drakenpage777but I play on Xbox one and it still runs good
@@Krishthebrush Just My Opinion: AC1-Rogue was PEAK Assassins creed. Because... It shows Both sides are bad.
@@drakenpage777 I agree
@@Krishthebrush Cool
I started Unity not at all liking it. I still don't think it's the best out there, but now, I absolutely love the game and can see what potential it had
Im gonna say it, Unity had the potential to be and was seriously close to being the best game in the franchise
Scarab. The story sucked, but the black box assassinations were *chef’s kiss* and Paris is unparalleled in the sense of life it gives as an environment. I still go in now and then just to walk the streets, leap the rooftops and help the people of the city.
Yea the story does suck but the black box mission was amazing and the parkour was smooth I just wish it had ac3 combat
If ever there was a game that needed a PS5 and series x patch or remaster. It needs to be Unity!
That I second!

for me imo either black flag or ac2/the trilogy needs a remaster
In the ac wiki, it is said that his eagle vision absorbs memories of his victim

babe wake up, new incredibly educated, nuanced, and thought out scarab video just dropped
I literally redownloaded unity and got curious with some stuff of it and this video pops up
4:38 “What could have been the best AC game was never given that opportunity, purely due to Ubisoft’s insistence on a constant cash flow of assassin’s creed”
What has changed honestly? Scarab.
Even though the story was quite confusing, I absolutely loved playing this game😭
this game just makes me want a thomas de carneillon game
Yh but ubi probs won't be doing one for at least 7 years with all the planned releases that everyone has seen also that would be a very fun game

I just finished the game.
I've just finished my second play through howd you find it the last mission really annoys me when Germain disappears
this is my first AC game so far so good not major glitches
