I like women who wrench on their own trucks. Great video, if anything your diff is cleaner changing the fluid twice. I've had many GM trucks with the G80 and have always heard that limited slip additive is not needed b/c it doesn't have clutches, but fly weights that fling out when one wheel turns faster than the other. I've never read abut a G80 breaking b/c of limited slip being added. I have a 2006 Yukon and changed the fluid with full synthetic that already had limited slip additives mixed in. I did this a 60,000 miles and the truck now has 140,000 and the G80 still works great. I recently did the rear diff fluid change on my 2018 Sierra with the G80 and used Amsoil severe gear oil.
Thanks for your comment and your explanation! Using the limited slip additive definitely made it smoother when the differential locks up. Before I added it was quite violent no matter how softly I would try to get it to engage. Now it's much smoother. Even since I changed out the fluid with no limited slip additive.
So just a few pointers. 1. Next time clean the rear diff first. That way no dirt or debris will enter the fill hole. 2. I would suggest going to a 75-140 weight. The heavier oil will help, especially on a vehicle that tows. You can also get the diff oil in fill packs so you don't have to pump. Getting GM quality oil is good but there are better alternatives out there. I run Amsoil heavy gear oil in my 2500HD. Changed to the 75-140 at 10K and never looked back. BUT kudos to you for doing it yourself. Again, what you did is fine, I"m not knocking it.
Between you and C Farmer I have learned so many routine DIY maintenance and repair actions on my 2018 Duramax. Thank you
Thank you! C Farmer does an awesome job with his videos! I'm glad mine could help too!
You're good adding LSD additive to a non LSD diff wont hurt anything. Most gear oils already contain it.
My respect at your self-sufficiency is only surpassed by your ingenuity. Great video and quite informative 👍🏻
Thank you 😊

The additive is not going to hurt your differential, just your pocket.
Thank you!
@@AshleysOutdoorAdventures you are very welcome.
Excuse me, I have a 2019 Tahoe. After how many kilometers should I change and replace the differential oil?
@@abkothar123 depending on the type of driving you do probably every 50 to 100 kilometers.
@@AshleysOutdoorAdventures THANKS ❤️
