@@Kornelius9726 Adding all that extra stuff, IE meat, vegetables, etc constitutes a Melt rather than a Grilled Cheese. A grilled cheese is a type of melt, but not vice versa a melt is not a grilled cheese.

@@unoriginalegg9899 No, that is still a grilled cheese. The butter (or if you use mayo) is to toast the bread. For a purist, a grilled cheese is just bread (w/ spread to toast it) and cheese.

you can get a pack of tomatoes and greens under 3 or 4 bucks, and you can make the same sandwich maybe 5-6 times with that

The question is, what classifies as a grilled cheese? The girls had the best sandwiches but, to me, Trent is the only one to actually follow directions. Is a bologna sandwich still a bologna sandwich if roast beef, corn beef, turkey or ham is added to it? Doesn't adding extra ingredients makes the sandwich something completely different?
They were told to make THEIR grilled cheeses, so this is how they eat them at home, so it’s still fair. Clearly he doesn’t eat his like they do, but he probably will now lol. Looked like he got put on to something.

a grilled cheese is called a grilled cheese because its just cheese and bread. adding other stuff to it makes it a melt or a different sandwich
I would say a true grilled cheese sandwich is limited to only ONE non-cheese topping, (like bacon, tomato, etc) add any more and it becomes a panini
I've had this discussion with my housemates and we came to the conclusion that what makes it a grilled cheese vs melt or something else is if the cheese is the star of the show, which for all 3 of their sandwiches, the cheese is definitely the star
