Yes, I think it's much harder to find real deal jewelry in jars from the thrift stores anymore. I think they're generally more careful about knowing what they have these days so yes, that leaves us with yard sales and estate sales for the most part and it had been a while since I had found anything but an older woman had a yard sale last weekend and for two dollars I got a dirty plastic sandwich baggie with almost all metal tangled, grimy, and filthy mixed necklaces, earrings, a few pins, etc. My eye locked in on a fat gold chain and my first thought was, "noway, this couldn't possibly be..." I didn't even have my glasses on and I could see the dang mark, it's 14 k gold and heavy! Plus I saw several pairs of sterling silver earrings, some from Mexico, some with turqoise, some with mother of pearl. So yeah, definitely hidden gems at yard sales!
If you find bright yellow metal jewelry that is not stamped and looks like costume jewelry, look again or have it checked out. In the far east, they never used to mark the 22k solid gold. Thank you! Great video!
Margaret, even though this video is a year old today, the information is informative, concise and still holds true in how to uncover hidden treasures "in the wild". You have so much knowledge. Thank you. Take care.
I go to an annual jewelry sale at a retirement community. This year I was in line with alot of pickers. I forgot my loop so I was just using my eye. An hour later I picked up an old gold charm bracelet. Every charm was 14k as was the bracelet. Thise fellows missed it. Drove down the road and got a 568.00 check
I love you and your videos! I’m sorry you have a few hateful comments here. Don’t even let it bother you ,just ignore and keep on going. ❤ some people are just always going to be nasty and rude. We will pray for them! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁
Thanks for this. I'm a James Avery and sterling silver jewelry aficionado and recently started my reselling journey as a side hustle and often see Brighton offered but never thought it would resell well since it's costume. Now I know. Thanks again.
I would recommend, also going through other bunches of things - I've found both jewelry & beads in with buttons/sewing notions and in bags of miscellany - Thanks again
I think I do best with necklaces. I include a photo of the necklace on a mannequin, so people can see how it falls / how long it is. I include measurements too, but buyers don't always have a clear idea of what length they need, unless they compare to something they have / use a measuring tape. The photo on the mannequin helps with impulse buys, I think!
A suggestion that I have thought of doing for myself as well, is a screenshot photo of the different length of chain..ill try to explain what I saw to use (there are several internet photos with a diagram showing the lengths and the names they are called ex: starts with choker to opera length) and put it as your last photo on each necklace item so buyer can refer to what and how long and name of length that piece is. Ya it's 1 more photo to add but might be worth the time and you can save the screenshot in your phone to use repeatedly Hope this makes sence ..hard to explain..lol
Mannequin definitely helps them picture it. I sell sunglasses, once i started putting the sunglasses on the mannequin sales have definitely increased. A Mannequin does wonders and shows off an item way better and they are cheap - one or two flips pays for the mannequin.
Love buying and reselling, Sterling silver I buy it and polish it, some pieces look good with patina but 95% of the time I like to polish it. Enjoyed your video
The older cut diamonds were much longer deeper, modern cuts are not as deep - but shallow to take advantage of the entire Stone depending on inclusions...
I have found that i enjoy jewelry and scarves. So I will be changing over soon to just those items may broaden it to accessories. Maybe include shoes and purses. I am in TX also.
Margaret: Could you do a video on how to photograph your thrift ed items and the best way to list them on Ebay? Its intimidating to get started 😐. New subscriber here. Love the channel! Thank you 💕
Margaret is THE BEST person to learn from, especially as a newb, because she is fun to watch AND very smart and informative you’ve found the best. I wish you the best in your endeavor.
Just came across this and how relevant and excellent info this is! I have an upcoming opportunity to get first pick at jewelry at an estate sale for someone from West Germany and was trying to learn as much about what to look for in a quick way. Keeping the tip to offer to buy the lot in mind!
Thanks for your video! Ive had costume jewelry sell for significantly more than fine jewelry. I do like your "plan of attack" however, in my opinion I think looking for a name/ mark is one of the first things someone should do because you can quickly sum up what you have when it has a mark by the maker or a material mark. I agree that stones, construction and quality should be high on the list as well because for example D & E Juliana is not marked generally but construction gives clues. Buying in a lot is also great advice I would agree with. If you find one thing that can pull you out of the whole deal (sell for more than what you paid for the whole lot) then it's smart to buy the lot. I appreciate your presence here on UA-cam!
Your best sellers list is so interesting- my top sellers are earrings and rings, followed by pendants. I don’t even bother listing brooches now, but perhaps I’ll try again! I’m in the UK - maybe they’re just less popular here 🤔
Thank you so much for sharing your great tips. I live in Germany and go to flea markets, village garage sales, social shops which are like charity shops, to scout out jewellery and vintage items. You found stunning items at fantastic prices. I want to start selling online to earn abit of money. I'm struggling to get going. All tips are greatly appreciated. Take good care. 💐
It will be good you could make a video on popular jewelry brands to be on a look out for....both vintage and contemporary...like vintage wise Trifari is a good brand and in contemporary line, Alexis Bittar is sought after etc.
Hi Margaret, Depending on the size of the main part of a single earring and what it is you could change the connector and turn them into pendants or charms. Cheers.
Hi Margaret! Hope your Thanksgiving was grand. Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas to you and yours. Thanks for this video and tips. All the best. Sherry :)
Great video! For the beginners … the other thing to do is educate yourself about costume jewelry brands and styles, so that you can recognize good marks when you see them. (That helps you to quickly identify items that might have value even if they aren’t made with real stones or precious metals.) There are great books out there to help you learn, and UA-cam of course.
I bought a couple of huge plastic bags stuffed with vintage jewelry. I know what a few things are…amethyst bead necklace, garnet earrings, etc. but the rest of it is a mystery to me. Any suggestions on resources that could help me sort through it so I know what is profitable, and how much to ask for, virtually?
Thanks for the tips. Happy to hear that bracelets and brooches sell best for you because I like selling them the best. I haven't found to many men's items and usually avoid them. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Can I go garage sale picking with you? You seem like a magnet to the good finds. I have found some great things at garage sales too but darlin' that diamond ring wins the prize!
I think brooches sell well because people who wear or collect brooches are usually looking at vintage and antique pieces, so they will be hunting jewelry resellers primarily.
I got my first blue box from goodwill. I found a leather bracelet by brunello cucinelli! I looked it up and wow! Do you know about this designer? Is there a lot of fakes for this designer?
is there a video for good accurate sites for research on jewelry? Or could someone please point me in a direction? I always have resold clothing and items steered away from jewelry. I have acquired a massive amount of jewelry. Accosscroft nyc, custom made Masons jewelry , mens and womens and tons of pearl items. I know nothing of this stuff lol hence how I found this video!
Hi TGT, yes, I definitely learned alot. Thank you so much for this video full of information. I just bought a huge (500+) lot of mostly vintage jewelry at an estate sale so I'm nervous but excited and ready to start listing but I am not even a little experienced on the matter. I barely even own or wear jewelry myself, or at least used to, now I'm starting to love it, especially remembering how much my mom enjoyed wearing it. I'm gonna binge your videos to learn more. Any suggestion as to what video should I start on after this one? 🙂
Love your priority list in this video!! If its validation at all, I find bracelets and brooches sell best, too. Although, I also find those harder to find at garage sales, maybe its just here in Vegas. All the best!
You look absolutely beautiful in your video. You get prettier over the years. What is your secret? Your hair looks fabulous 👌 👏. I appreciate your information 😊
Hi Margaret, just getting into jewelry reselling and I came across a gold-tone bracelet that is marked "OG". Do you know what that stands for? I tried checking on google but there were quite a few answers. Thanks in advance.
Hi Margaret, thanks for sharing your expertise. I liked your video and shared it and noticed that you are getting close to 100K. It should happen for you in DECEMBER as there are lot of people spending time on this media. They are estimated to pull in 10 billion in ad revenue which they share half with their creators. Have a marvelous holiday. 🎄MJ (do you use TikTok or Instagram to promote your you tube videos?)
I saw a YT video on how to get knots out of a chain. A little oil in a dish . So easy to slide out the knots.
Yes, I think it's much harder to find real deal jewelry in jars from the thrift stores anymore. Wow! Good for you! Great you were received being rewarded fir being a good person. Pay it forward from your earnings 🙂🤗
If you find bright yellow metal jewelry that is not stamped and looks like costume jewelry, look again or have it checked out. In the far east, they never used to mark the 22k solid gold. Thank you! Great video!
I forgot to mention that step number one to check it would be using a magnet. If it sticks, it is not solid gold.
Margaret, even though this video is a year old today, the information is informative, concise and still holds true in how to uncover hidden treasures
"in the wild". You have so much knowledge. Thank you. Take care.
@Kim-Art, :) Thank you very much!! :)

Where do you sell these gold pieces? I've got a few and would like to cash in on them. Thanks.
Congrats! What did you pay for it?
A solid gold charm bracelet and charms would be selling on Ebay for way over 1000 dollars so whoever bought it from you, also doubled their money.
How do u find that type of sale? Meaning, where is a sale listed? Thanks so much
I've never thought to just buy it all, especially on a hot day with the sun shining right on me. Thanks for the great tip ♥
I love you and your videos! I’m sorry you have a few hateful comments here. Don’t even let it bother you ,just ignore and keep on going. ❤ some people are just always going to be nasty and rude. We will pray for them! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁

Great info… and by the way I have a beach theme and octopus 🐙 in my bathroom… of course I noticed you were wearing that gorgeous necklace 😊!!!
You are wearing my silver spoon octopus i found at savers!! lol. nice find
Very cool!

@@lorenemeyer4665 Get a ruler that measures multiple angles like an L shaped one then you can show off the measurements in the pictures
@@lorenemeyer4665 Mannequin is like 30 dollars, just a bust mannequin
That's a good idea about the garage sales
Great video, thanks for the tips. I always carry white me a magnifier or Loupe and a magnet to test the metals.
Make sure you keep the magnet far away from your debit or credit cards. It will otherwise demagnetize them.
Diamonds in your first ring are "pave"(pa vey) your second ring are likely "rose cut"
I have found that i enjoy jewelry and scarves. So I will be changing over soon to just those items may broaden it to accessories. Maybe include shoes and purses. I am in TX also.
OMG I love your octopus charm on your necklace❤❤❤🐙❤❤❤

What about old pearl necklaces with antique beads on them
Thank you Texas girl
Love the octopus!

Great video, love the addition of the pictures on the side, nice work! Thank you Margaret!

Perfect timing for this video as my wife has all of her mother's jewelry.

Awesome video, as usual! Thanks for the info.
Any time!
Thanks so much for all your knowledge. I thought all this time if the magnitude clings. It’s silver or gold. ☹️
Good tips. Thanks!
You bet!

That was awesome. Thank you for sharing. 🎉
Fabulous information Margaret! Thanks fir sharing your vast knowledge with us!
Love your 🐙...I am stocking up on tanzanite pieces...I love colored stone jewelry and native American pieces. So much fun going on the hunt!
Tanzanite is my favorite stone. Where are you geographically? Are you finding some good pieces? Where do you find them the most?
It will be good you could make a video on popular jewelry brands to be on a look out for....both vintage and contemporary...like vintage wise Trifari is a good brand and in contemporary line, Alexis Bittar is sought after etc.

Ohh Wow! Thank you So Very much..😍🙏🤟
love the background
I love the necklace you are wearing!
Great video and beautiful necklace. I really needed to hear this today. Thanks
Lots of information, Margaret. Thanks. Surprised that broaches are your #2 most popular item-it seems that many don’t wear them.
Thank you for the tips, great video.
In my eBay store I sell more necklaces and the bracelet I find much slower but I was listing more necklace than bracelets so that may be why
As always it is so great to learn from you! I need to start going to Yard Sales. Have a wonderful holiday season!
Hi...I'd like to know what your take is on up-cycled jewelry and its value...thank you.
Hi Margaret! Great to see you posting jewelry vids!! Stay good to your base. Lol.
You’re the best!!
Hi Margaret! Hope your Thanksgiving was grand. Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas to you and yours. Thanks for this video and tips. All the best. Sherry :)
Hi Margaret! I don't sell but I love watching your videos !! 😄 they inspire be when I am thrifting!
Well then START selling and stop acting demonic, strong permanent confirmed legitimate fact.

Thank you gorgeous!!! Do you recommend buying on ebay?
Love your vids. It would def help if you could have added ur expertise on the prices for the pieces ur selling.
I usually don’t go to estate sales, but this year I might go to a few more. They always seem pricey. Garage sales - yes!
Great video !!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Super education! ❣️🎄

Have you tried using : reverse image search on Google??💝
Thanks for the tips. Happy to hear that bracelets and brooches sell best for you because I like selling them the best. I haven't found to many men's items and usually avoid them. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
How do I search for jewely marks here. I have tried in the past to figure it out to no avail. I am subscribed to the channel!
Thanks, VERY informative!
How do you test the items for gold? Do all of gold pieces are marked or there are some gold pieces unmarked?
Great info! Thanks!
Thanks 🙏
This came just the minute I need it!!
Hi there I have 100 retired pandora beads with birthstone estimate 20 years ago
🌟 Great tips - Thanks!
Would u replace silver on dings. I have found some beautiful rings and bangals.
Thank you! This is a very helpful video!
Can I go garage sale picking with you? You seem like a magnet to the good finds. I have found some great things at garage sales too but darlin' that diamond ring wins the prize!

thank you
I love your necklace!

Hey Gal! Just discovered you!
Great tips!
If it is about fit, then do the adjustable or c-shaped bracelets sell better than bangles which you cannot resize?
What is your selling platform?
What advise wd u give to someone who wants to Dropship and not buy bulk or from garage sales
I don't know about drop shipping
LOVE THESE VIDEOS 😍💖
Great video♥️😊
I got my first blue box from goodwill. I found a leather bracelet by brunello cucinelli! I looked it up and wow! Do you know about this designer? Is there a lot of fakes for this designer?
What platform do you list your jewelry on? By the way, first time viewing and new subscriber.
is there a video for good accurate sites for research on jewelry? Or could someone please point me in a direction?
I always have resold clothing and items steered away from jewelry. I have acquired a massive amount of jewelry. Accosscroft nyc, custom made Masons jewelry , mens and womens and tons of pearl items. I know nothing of this stuff lol hence how I found this video!

Bracelets were not on my radar because I personally dislike them. Thanks for the idea and better perspective.
You look absolutely beautiful in your video. You get prettier over the years. What is your secret? Your hair looks fabulous 👌 👏. I appreciate your information 😊
Thank you!
You taught me how to buy jewelry for less, so much less.

How to connect you maam
