It’s truly amazing to see how fast and accurate cats reflexes really is. We usually don’t see them 100% turned on in well fed domesticated cats.

Nothing compared to a humans reflexes though. Maybe not the average human, but some.
Our new kitten is like that, you have to watch her closely and make sure she is at least 5 feet away from you while eating. She came from Team Feral in Houston though, but I think she was born in the shelter, we adopted her a month ago. We just found out she has FIP and the vet started her on a steroid. Before that she would barely eat, now she's a violent little eater. I have to give her the tablet in a pill pouch treat, and the other day she was eating the treat and the pill fell out. I'm thinking great, now I have to stick it in a new pouch or she won't take the pjll and went to grab the tablet and she tried biting my finger before gobbling the tablet up. I was like.... um..... ok then. She has also mastered the grab and run, the magician's now you have it now you don't, and the that was never there to begin with. Oh, and the teleportation of either her, your food, or both. I don't want to say goodbye to her 😭😭
Yes, this is typical for a cat! This is nothing compared to what they are capable of! Whether they be wild or domesticated!!! Cat's are one of the LEAST evolved species out there! As the Big Cat Society says...there are Big Cats and Small Cats! But, they are ALL cats!!!

My cat dragged a whole baked chicken off the stove.
I had a cat that swiped a chicken breast from the counter while I was getting a baking sheet out.
I had an open 10 pack of chicken, I turned away to get the sheet, I turn back to a 9 pack of chicken breast.
Less than 30 seconds.
Same, once my cat got on counter to steal a huge piece of chicken and I had to struggle to get it away from him lol. 😫🐈
I had one who stole a whole roast from my shopping bag, dragged it behind a door and started to unwrap, he only got caught because of the noise from the wrapping paper.

Although with dogs, you do have to put food up well beyond their reach too, or things like entire steaks can suddenly go running out of the room (based on personal observation) 😆

Cats became human companion through just being them selves hunting for themselves. Dogs had to make choice to side with humans as wolves for more food so dogs see humans as master hunter

Our cats join us for dinner, but don't like any of the food we eat ourselves (steak, fish, salad, etc.) Kinda nice not to worry about our furry friends having malevolent motives.
Once I seen my cat and boyfriend actually fighting over his ribeye she stole from his plate as he was just sitting down to eat it. Lol he still ate it🤣

I had a white with gray striped Turkish Van cat, it just got to the point I made an extra serving for him when I cooked, chicken was his favorite if I got fried chicken to bring home I just got an extra piece just for him what can I says he was my spoiled fur kid.
Truthfully I never got upset I always shared my food with him, although he never offered to share his food with me😼

My reasoning is if it's healthy for my cat then why not let her have some food?

My cat is so picky that she won’t eat anything besides her dry food and only a couple brands of cat snacks. So she never tries to steal my food. She won’t even eat fish if you give it to her! 🙃

this is actually what i do too. ive trained mine to wait until i've eaten everything i've wanted to, then give them some. they know it's coming if they're patient. pack mentality.
This is the way to go if your cat is food obsessed. My cat now just patiently sits next to me and watches until I can give him a scrap of meat that I don’t want. Altho occasionally he will steal when i’m not looking
I once had a white male cat who loves eating vegetables. He didn’t quite like cat food. But he could wait patiently for a piece of chayote or some water morning glory when I was having meal. I love him so much! He’s in heaven now. ❤️

We used to have a cat that could skewer a hot dog and slide it right out of the bun. It just disappeared and he would be seen on the floor eating it. One time it happened right while I was sitting there. I felt nothing besides the plate losing the hot dog's equivalent in mass.
The number of people (that include me) who are absolutely not bothered by the fact their cats touch/grab their food with bare paws is surprising.

It absolutely bothers me. I love cats and dogs but they are dirty animals. Licking yourself and walking on cat litter is not clean. I sometimes give them table scraps but they will never touch my plate or my food.

Haha these are so funny and cute! They remind me of my cat Gato, he loved to steal food. One time he ate all the pepperonis off of a pizza while I was out of the room. Another time I caught him walking down the hall with a piece of toast in his mouth. I would get mad and laugh at the same time! Also my cat Maxie used to make me share my KFC with him. He would stand and beg with his paws in my lap till I gave him some. Of course I was planning to anyway!

I think a lot of cat owners just don't give a damn. Dogs often eat their and others' shit and vomit and their owners still don't mind being licked all over their faces. We may not be invincible, but we humans have a pretty hardy constitution and when we love animals we tend to let those concerns go, because they just become absurd and tedious in the bigger picture, especially when living around it every day.

A lot of pizza and chicken. I had sweet mannered cat as a child who went CRAZY for cantaloupe. If you opened a cantaloupe in the house she had to have a piece to maintain order.
Maybe it's just me but I never allowed my pets to be that close to my food or me when I ate. One thing I don't allow is my food to be touched by anyone but me.
We are similar. I would be very hard on them, for daring to touch my food.

@@liveincolor3793 I seriously hope you're kidding, right? This is exactly why pet obesity exists. Cats and dogs don't need all the extra fat, salt and sugar. Our food also lacks the nutrients an animal needs and it's just plain bad for their health.
To my family's dismay I always share my food with our pets,mostly when they'll not looking otherwise I get a talking too about teaching them bad habits.

Once I left the patio door open, I had my cheese toast ready on the coffee table close to it and I left to get my tea, when I came back the first thing I saw was the figure of the neighborhood cat running from that same patio door with my cheese toast. He stole my breakfast and sat right infront of me on the other side of the road in the bushes and ate it. Till that day I didn't even know cats can eat bread !!!!! This is hilarious. It reminds me of one time when I was growing up, in the chaos of getting ready for school and my mom getting ready to leave for work, she couldn't find her bagged lunch that she just prepared and set on the table.
