She started doing it approximately 9 yrs old on a Thoroughbred who was 17+ hands named Duchess. Duchess could tear up on her hind legs while Joyce would stand in front of her not budging an inch. When i was a troubled teen i was responsible for a horse named stormy she saved me from myself. She did not let others ride her but she let me train her as she trained me she would bow down on one knee to help me up..she loved me fiercely as i did her..i miss her so much. I am 55 now. I was 14 when she saved me..😢this reminds me of how i felt the first time she showed me this gesture..love to all great and small i love you
Horses know who rides them or takes care of them. I used to ride a rocky mountain gelding during trail rides and he knew that I was a female. You can tell they take care of certain people. They're so smart.

horses are one of the most intelligent animals . I grew up on a horse farm and my first horse she was a western pleasure AQHA and I retrained her to do barrels and to team pen etc and nobody else could ride her because she would act very nasty just to get them off because she didn't like anyone other then me riding her. She was the best horse I'd ever had I spent so much time with her. They really do know so much more then we can give them credit for. they are just such a gift to this world
My daughter was thrown while doing bareback. This horse was huge and she was 10 yo and weighed maybe 55 lbs. She didn’t hesitate to get back on the horse, the trainer started to get between her and the horse but my daughter was too quick. I think she surprised the horse because he acted like “so there” the just froze for about 2 seconds then started bucking - my daughter was like a monkey latched onto the mane $ around that massive horses’ neck. Me, I’m starting into the ring then the horse started settling down. I could see her talking to the horse but not yelling. I asked her what she said and she said she told him “If you throw me I’m gonna get back on every time so if you want a washing & rub down you’ll let us finish our lesson, I love you big boy”. Amazing!

She did not let others ride her but she let me train her as she trained me she would bow down on one knee to help me up..she loved me fiercely as i did her..i miss her so much. I am 55 now. horses are one of the most intelligent animals . I grew up on a horse farm and my first horse she was a western pleasure AQHA and I retrained her to do barrels and to team pen etc and nobody else could ride her because she would act very nasty just to get them off because she didn't like anyone other then me riding her. She was the best horse I'd ever had I spent so much time with her. They really do know so much more then we can give them credit for. they are just such a gift to this world

My daughter was thrown while doing bareback. This horse was huge and she was 10 yo and weighed maybe 55 lbs. She didn’t hesitate to get back on the horse, the trainer started to get between her and the horse but my daughter was too quick. I think she surprised the horse because he acted like “so there” the just froze for about 2 seconds then started bucking - my daughter was like a monkey latched onto the mane $ around that massive horses’ neck. Me, I’m starting into the ring then the horse started settling down. I could see her talking to the horse but not yelling. I asked her what she said and she said she told him “If you throw me I’m gonna get back on every time so if you want a washing & rub down you’ll let us finish our lesson, I love you big boy”. Amazing!
