I love watching these game development progress videos, it's always so cool seeing how people get better and better and eventually make masterpieces. Keep up the good work!
Seems like you've improved a lot! Good luck going forward! And don't worry too much about using assets, for prototypes that's all well and good, especially just for getting a feel for/showing off what you want to be like.
just started my journey yesterday i can’t wait to see what we can do with AI and unity once i start getting better at coding and understanding the language and program
good stuff dude, Been thinking of learning blender to create my own assets, haven't tried too but after seeing you progressively make better things in 3D is kinda nice, Think I might start as well.
That's what I tried to do, make my first game a small game..... Everyone tells me it isn't, I thought it was, but I'm still running with it..... Literally 🤣. Anyways, great video! I wish I was talented at making videos 😄.
Starting my journey tomorrow. Working on a Gorilla Tag-esque vr game. I’m doing modeling which i’m pretty good at and on the side i’m gonna be learning C# for further game development.
how do you learn from a tutorial because people keep saying that you never really learn from a tutorial when you are just following through, for instance I'm learning how to make movement and I know what get axis does but I but I still don't have a clear picture. same with vector 3, all I'm asking is how did you really get an understanding of code to the point where you can feel confident in customizing it.
Im not OP but Ive started learning unity a couple weeks ago, and I recommend you just start trying to make a game and not look at any tutorials and see what you can come up with just with the manual, documentation, and maybe the answers in forums, and see how far you get. I did 2 tutorials for full games and then I said fck it and went straight to doing a game idea I had without following any tutorials and just figured everything out with the manual and a lot of thought. I did not feel ready to do so when I started but I got comfortable little by little. Also, whatever this game you may try to make be, make sure it is very simple and something you know you can do. You dont wanna get stuck either.
I think following tutorials can be helpful, but the important thing is how you use them. 1.) Get an idea of the entire process of what you want to do. Watch some dev logs on UA-cam. Chances are someone has already tried making a game similar to the ones you want to make. 2.) Try playing around with your software tools and see what you can accomplish on your own. 3.) If you don’t know how to do a thing you want to do, then Google a tutorial for exactly that (or reference a manual or user guide for whatever program you are using) In short, get an outline of what you should do, and once you have a list of tasks, use specific tutorials to figure how to accomplish those tasks
Saw your crab pipe game and thought "why does this remind me of Finding Nemo?" and was pleasantly surprised when you shared that was the inspiration for the game hahaha
Minimunch: shows Brackeys twice in the video. Viewer: what's a good place to learn coding in unity. Minimunch: Jason weimann Edit: I'd also recommend freecodecamp. But I like Jason Weimann and Brackeys a bit more personally.
Practice. Use tutorials just to start you out and then immediately try to do something by yourself, then return to tutorials whenever you get stuck or feel "there must be a faster/easier way", then return to practice and start the cycle all over again. When It comes to practice, think of something cool that you wanna make and It Is slightly out of your comfort zone, non inside of It because you need to get stuck at certain points so that you are incentiviezed to make the needed reasearch but not too much out of It that you don't even know where to start. I personally learned a lot of things by thinking at random "It would be really funny if i a made x" And then actually doing It "for the meme". It Is pretty fun too! So, to sum up everything: practice makes perfect
Nice. I start game dev in late June and I’m a little better than you. Right now I’m making a Minecraft, pikmin, Mario galaxy hybrid but I might drop the Minecraft aspect as the character doesn’t move smooth enough with gravity and blocks. (I had literally nothing else to do this summer and I have an addictive personality)
Looks like you made a lot of progress!! Great work. If you are ever interested in getting some custom music for your game, maybe we could collaborate. I am a composer trying to get into video game music, so maybe we could help each other out. Let me know if you would be interested!

Hardest part about game development is decent multiplayer. Almost everything else is pretty easy if you are using a game engine like unity or unreal. Even with them standard multiplayer is easy it only gets annoying when using a database and a dedicated server.
Yeah, starting small is fundamental... That's why I'm making an exploration open world game with realistic economy, strategic battles and party management 🤡

I've been interested in game development for a while but not sure how to start coding
try out "C# Tutorial - Full Course for Beginners" by freeCodeCamp if you want to make your games in unity

How do I rotate pixel art in unity without it deforming and looking weird
Perhaps you are rotating it on the x or y axis which which is causing rotation in the 3rd dimension. Try only rotating in the z axis
