    Crew skills are a crucial aspect in Ground battles. Although often overlooked, these skills can increase your tank's performance by a significant amount. Today, I explain every single tank crew skill with visual guides. This is a remake of one of my first videos, and I've corrected several mistakes, given it a fresh new voice-over and visuals and made it much more accurate. It's also a remake of a remake, which somehow managed to be worse than its original video lol. This time, I actually did research and tested how the skills work in-game, and the voice-over doesn't sound like I'm rapping.

    💠 CORRECTION: A wounded gunner and loader perform worse than their normal counterparts. So, your turret traverse and reload rate will be slower if those crew members are injured.
    It's time for a remake of a remake, this time with actual research and 500% slower talking 😎

      Stop holding W , hide behind a hill and use your binos , when you see a enemy pop out your turret shoot the enemy and reverse regardless of the damage , rinse and repeat

      Tbh my one tip is to watch war thunder youtubers lol. You get less burnt out by the game, and i feel like i got subconsciously better at the game by watching others gameplay

      That's crew skill, not you skill sadly. It takes time to hone your skills in the game and believe me, it gets worse on higher ranks especially if you don't pay your way there

    I'm pretty sure if a crew member is severely wounded (orange or red) it does affect stuff like turret rotation speed

      only yellow is free. Its the same as with modules(if you can repair it there is a penality to performance, except for the transmission, that sucker uses 20% performance from being yellow). They should also use the same percentage of penality as modules unless gaijin changed that.

    I always speedrun Reload, Gun traverse and Leadership. They’re so much better than anything else (field repair takes way too long to get for a noticeable effect) that missing out on expert crew till later is worth it.

      Fair point, but in my opinion it's best to get field repair up to at least 2-3 levels in case of emergencies. I've died countless times because of a couple of seconds left on a barrel repair

      But sometimes getting the minimum for the expert crew is much better. That's 3 whole bars worth of skills which isn't really cheap normally and can surpass your 5 bars of skill. Not to mention that it gives you other boost in skills too like the very important field repair.

    3:24 almost 5000h and I didn't know this was a thing... I always though it was just the game being broken and not rendering the enemy since that also happens and graphics quality absolutely affects that.

    One small issue: qualification costs a lot, and after tier 4, you barely have enough sl for next vehicle

      ​@@skDogerif you do I have one tip I never saw on UA-cam : if you activate best squad wager but don't play everyday with your friends, you can deactivate join random squad mate and it will only check for best squads when you play specifically with a squad mate, meaning you can keep it active until your friends get back online, and don't have to waste it on maybe a random squad mate who'll leave outright and make you lose that stage

      Another one is 10 kill wagers. In rb you only need 5 kills, and you can use cas. I did Germany 6.7 with the do335b2 and I haven't failed at getting the max reward once. There were close calls bc I suck sometimes but it works really well.

    WTF, ive been playing this game for years and didnt know that keen vision actually does something in realistic battles. ive always thought the tanks popping in and out of my screen was a bug. xD

      The initial reason they added that stupid mechanics was to prevent and catch hackers.
      The idea was even if your wall hacking if the enemy isn’t rendered you can’t shoot them, or if you can it is blatant cheating thus easier to spot.

      @@HappyGM-R that is actually a pretty smart idea... funny enough i encountered a cheater a second time a few hours ago and it didnt make a differents. it was on "felder der normandie", round barely startet and i was shot through multiple bushes/trees behind a slight downhill. first i thought ive somehow been seen with TVD, tho when i saw the killfeed and heard the nucler siren after such a short while i was like... yea ok buddy.

    2:34 I guarantee you a wounded crew member does not perform the same as a full heath crew member, I'm not sure about the multiplier but if you doubt me just get a red gunner and see what happens to your turret traverse.

      For loaders the reload multiplier ranges from 1 to 1.25 depending on the damage received

      Agreed. It can take a long time to upgrade crew skills through normal gameplay, and it’s clear that Gaijin is trying to “encourage” you to spend money. It’s a blatant P2W mechanic, and it should frankly be removed from the game.

    -Targeting Quality also increases accuracy. That's why a "Reference" vehicle in test range feels so inaccurate.
    -Each repair time varies by caliber: Small caliber guns (20mm and such) have the fastest field repair time, then mid caliber (up to about 120mm), then vehicles with larger guns (above 150mm it seems) have the longest repair times. An expert large-caliber crew repairs at the same rate as a stock small-caliber crew.

    Definetly nice to watch the remastered explanations. And im hoping well eventually get a remastered series for the ground nations given the plethora of changes it had for vecicles. Plus i think israel wasnt even in it the last time.
    Or maybe well get naval next? Either way i always look forward to more of these videos as im always learning new things from them despite playing the game for several years already. So keep up the excellent work.
    Also nice to see you improving so much with the video editing as i think it looks really good compared to 2 -3 years ago

    15:51 that misses one important factor though. You get less research points overall in Arcade mode than in realistic mode. So, in the end it might be more worth to play Realistic mode, aka RB.

    targeting also affects the accuracy.
    also there are other issues others have pointed out.
    as for skill order, go for this:
    1, targeting. low tier guns are already horribly inaccurate, but you need the accuracy later too. faster aim is also important. hitting the target more reliably (and aiming at it faster) is the most important thing. you can have the fastest reload, it wont matter if your gun can't hit anything, let alone weak spots, and important areas
    2, reload. upgrade it to ~80% ASAP, then you can go to the others. you can return later to this
    3, agility. distribute it evenly on the crew members
    4, repair. same as agility
    5, leadership
    6, vitality. in this order: gunner, driver, commander, loader, radio operator
    after this, whatever you want.

    I swear the tank driving skills improves the steering wheel turn time on wheeled vehicles.
    I could feel a significant difference between driving a Puma on a stock crew and an expert max lvl crew.

    Repair Rank Has an Inpact on how fast you can repair a hightier vehicle. (I don't really know but it takes 50% longer to repair a higher tier vehicle if you didn't skilled the repair rank to the vehicle you use)

    Tank driving is really helpful for really slow tanks like tortoise and t95. They almost completely stop when turning with no skill, where you can do several small turns and keep momentum with the skill up

    Reminder you don't need to upgrade the vitality of the MG/radio operator if you mostly play high tier, and maybe even the loader if you have a nation with many autoloader tanks.

    I would advise everyone to upgrade vitality on the SPAA gunner, cause you better believe that the first thing the planes destroy in AA is the gunner.

    For lower tiers, I would try to get as much levels as possible up, at least up to the next tier cap, so that when I reach that tier, I can buy the expert crew straight away. So my loadout would usually look like half a bar in all skills. Getting expert crew essentially gives the bare minimum for repairs, which feels decent for now.
    After that? Targeting, to the max, always.
    Since I tend to end up in close quarters, this skill have saved countless games and got me to the top of the leaderboard often. Sometimes it even lets me survive an outnumbered situation, which usually just sends me to the top of the board.
    After that, it is all personal preferences. I like to be able to respond faster, and since the tank driving skill is cheap, that would be the next to max out.
    Otherwise, tank reloading and leadership is the next to max out.
    Once these three main skills are maxed, I would rush for field repairs. This skill has also saved a couple of matches because they weren't expecting me to counter attack so quickly. Also, I could run away earlier.
    And because nobody likes to sit duck for so long.

    Repair speed is total dogshit at higher tiers. Gaijin actually thinks having a several day free repair time is somehow worth upgrading the skill

    One small note about sharing xp between gamemodes: the mechanics skills are also valid in all gamemodes.
    I really second the advice to play air for crew xp btw. If a slot is lagging behind playing some Air RB with that slot can really help catch it up since that gets all your xp into a single slot.

    if 12:24 is true, that is a huge bit of info for me. that makes it actually a usefull skill for german mains (like me)
    also you forgot to mention rp into crew xp conversion rates for sim, you only mentioned the 100>1 and 100>3 ratio for ab and rb

      RB and sim are roughly the same, in RB it's 100 > 1.15 XP, and for sim it's 100 > 0.9 XP

    I kind of expected RB to give more Crew XP Points since it is the "Harder" Gamemode and not AB. Well now i should probably play more AB to get my crew leveled up more.

    ah yes WTs biggest P2W feature which gets even more agressive next patch when you will face 2 minutes of repair with an untrained crew. or simply spend 30 bucks per crew to get them to a decent level....or play 300h for the same effect(if you are decent enough of a player)
    also at 2:40. A wounded crew member DOES NOT perform the same as a non wounded crew member. A red gunner will slow your turret traverse as well as gun traverse significantly while a wounded loader will reduce your reload rate. For example an Expert full reload KV 2 has 32s of reload, with a red loader it has 46s reload. with a dead loader it has 62s reload (reload penality is twice your reload time because obviously your tanks commander or any other crew member has never in their life even touched a gun and can therefore not be expected to perform just as good as a fucking first day green loader would)
    also for the Exp grind. Only base RP count. (The number which pops up when you actually do sth in a match).If you have a good 10 minute game in your T72 and earn 10k RP you will not earn 100exp. You will have eraned around 50. Because booster bonus, activity bonus and skill bonus RP do not count!

    Fast way to get crew to max and Easy is play Heli PvE and learn how it is and what to do and once you do stack a bunch of boosters but remember 1 booster only lasts for 30 minutes so best thing to do in PvE is use a 5 pack of booster or 10 pack and if you are playing top tier Heli a 3 pack booster is good because top tier match last no more than 1 hour and most the time its a tiny bit over a half hour.
    This mode cranks up crew points specially with booster because the crew points are gained by XP and the more XP you receive in that mode the more crew points you get. Now for me I receive over 2k crew points a game and it actualy use to be a hell of a lot more but Gaijin realized that players took advantage of it BIG time.
    On average if you have premium time and a premium heli of top tier you can make usually a little bit over 1k. Still, now if you own the first rank of helicopters and premium one like the Mi-24D any rank 5 Heli gets you bank in XP(crew points) only because the matches last an hour and a half to even 3 hours if a most the team drops out and that right there makes CRAZY amounts of XP(crew points). I use to walk out of a PvE match when the mode started with no less than 3800 to 4200 crew points but now Gaijin toned it down and its more like 2800 max give or take.
    No lie this mode got me maxed out crews the fastest once I learned the PvE mode and that really doesn't take to much time. Even though it can be boring and thats if you are one of the people that just go and bomb bases when they show up in which return you usually don't die anymore because they don't spawn Spaa on the bases anymore like they use to and those Spaa use to max up the points for bombing/killing a base but nope not anymore because Gaijin took them away. Anyways its probably the fastest way to gain crew xp and no lie its probably the cheapest and easiest way but just time consuming but its faster than pretty much any other way.

    Still confused about keen vision. I keep upgrading keen vision on the gunner and commander thinking they would spot a tank quicker and engage faster. Am I doing what's best for quickly seeing the opposition? Thanks for the tutorial. Coming from WOT...what a learning curve.

      War Thunder's spotting mechanics aren't like WoT's. You can see most tanks up to a certain distance, with or without keen vision. In arcade mode though, it lets you see the red markers on top of enemy vehicles at a longer distance. This can definitely help you engage them faster, but only in arcade mode.
      Also, you don't need to upgrade it on only the gunner and commander, the keen vision skill is shared across all the crew members. It's best to spread out your points to all your crew for generic skills like those.

    ok i originally thought that Reload skill doesn't affect 1st stage replenishment after many rounds of using autoloader xm803/mbt70's. I keep kinda noticed my 1st stage replenishment being slower when my loader was down then up to speed again when I replaced the crew on the original abrams

    This is easily one of the modt p2w mechanics in the game in regards to diversification of skill points if you are gonna spend ge to get ace then jd say its worthwhile but if you are not stick to certain skills

    14:35 I think you made a mistake. To upgrade to expert you need lvl 5 crew for rank 2 vehicles, lvl 15 crew for rank 3 vehicles and lvl 25 for rank 4 vehicles.
    Also, for ACE you only need that level to get it from golden eagles. You can grind the vehicle before that. I got 2 aced crews on lvl 29 on 2 rank 3 vehicles, while the game was saying I needed lvl 50 to buy ace with golden eagles

    Is there some way to make the detection arrow (4:00) more in the center of the screen or larger? Because it is almost invisible and out of sight on a large monitor.

    Pretty sure the invisible tanks is a bug. I’ve seen tanks well past 1000m with no keen vision upgrades and I’ve had tanks pop in and out at less then 500m. Keen vision has nothing to do with render distance that is a mistake. I know for a fact I’ve seen tanks render in at 1500-2000m with lvl 1 keen vision in 3rd person. I’ve had them disappear inside 500m as well

      Tbf It could be because of "visibility" of tanks. Meaning that Maus has 200% while a t 34 has like 80% maybe it has something to do with this. Although I think I also never really had problems with invisible tanks

    There are some tanks with fewer crew members though (example no loader is French ELC) does the loader/ radio operator skills still apply (like field repair and keen vision, etc.)

    Sorry, I'm still really confused about what happens when you have missing crew roles and what happens when you have double up on roles.
    You said you still get the skills applied even if crew are missing. Is that because another crew member takes on two jobs like commmander + gunner, and if they get taken out you lose both? Or do you only lose the skill bonuses for their primary job?
    You said that if a crew member dies, someone moves to cover their role, and the skill bonus towards their previous job is lost. But someone still has to be doing that job don't they? If you have a gunner, driver, and loader, and then the driver dies, you can still shoot drive and reload after a crew member has swapped over.
    In the case of two crew of the same job, like having two loaders, I know you said that reload rate isn't affected but what about the general skills like repair speed?
    If losing crew always reduces the value of the general skills, does that mean the reported value for the agility skill is always wrong because it requires you to lose a crew member for it to take effect?

      Think of the skills and the crew members as separate things. When you upgrade skills, you're giving your tank benefits, not your crew. If a tank doesn't have a commander for example, nobody in there takes his job, and the commander's skills are permanently applied to the vehicle. Also for the double loaders, both of them need to die in order to lose their skills. For your last question about agility, I never really thought about that, so I'll have to look into it further.

      im mainly curious about the ~exact shape of the vision cones (if they even are cone-shaped) of the pilots.
      (same for this video, most crew skill vids i've seen before just rehash the tooltips so learning what the skills do beyond the tooltips has been hugely usefull)

    I have a question: if you use aircraft and tanks on the same crew spot, can you spend the points gained by an aircraft for tank crew levels?
    Also, I think that if you have level 68 crew with an aircraft you do not have the same level cre with tanks.

      For your first question, yes, you can use XP earned with planes to upgrade tank skills. And no, plane skills don't carry over to tank skills

    I still don´t understand one thing of the generic skills. If my tank doesn´t have a loader (e.g. Begleitpanzer 57) are the skill points of the loader still used for repairing, or are only the actual tank crew members count?
    e.g.: repair skill for gunner = 2, driver = 2, commander = 2, loader = 4, radio operator = 2
    result for Tank with gunner, driver, commander (Begleitpanzer 57) :
    Option 1: (2+2+2+4+2)/5 =2.4
    Option 2: (2+2+2)/3 = 2
    Option 3: (2+2+2)/5 = 1.5
    Option 4: (2+2+2+4+2)/3 = 4 (moste unlikely)
    which option is correct?

      He's a real crew member, check out some of the mid-tier German tanks for an example. He's seated next to the driver most of the time

    Except absolute spot doesn’t work 😂 when they are next to your around the corner and you only hear the engine sound (best case)
    Then you peak around the corner with free look and doesn’t get spotted in Arcade until i move fwd to the tank with lvl 150 and Ace crew 😂
    Also in the past month or two or simply doesn’t render only when shoots and then gets 3D spotted and marked on the map
    😂
    Absolute spot is absolutely unpredictable, my favourite when you hear one, you know it’s damaged tank and your rush to that then suddenly 3 ppl looking at you and hear no engine sound more than 1😂 and 1 or less marker/3Dspot
