@@BarugoSama Well you are not biased... The old version indeed looks great even after years. If it's not side by side i too don't see much of a change as well. I'm more curious about PC performance of this version. CDPR games are not optimized at launch, though this is not CDPR work.

for someone who played with this mod i don't really see my improvement for myself lmao. But I do hope they put it further, especially for the hair 'cause it had a lot of bugs and could look like noodles or fly like crazy. I am sure it is more revised. Curious what other mods they put in the game. Hopefully meaning they guarantee they are stable and they did give a little extra to them. Hopefully they did tweaks themselves too especially to items llike hakori's blade, the blade we get from Skellige quest and so on. Aerondight may still be the best sword but i would love to see other swords with similar mechanics
Yes, it looks very similar to the hd rework project mod, it seems that they have taken the mod and included it by default in the game, and also several changes in the character modeling and environment... But the lights and shadows look very good, maybe it has raytracing that can be activated... I hope it is so to consider playing it again

-new optional mechanics (like casting signes without using the quick menu with slow-mo)
- new map filters
- immersive HUD incorporated into the game
- new 3D meshes that replace some flat objects with normal maps (like Novigrad wall)
- most of the vegetation is reworked (especially all the grass)
- new clouds
- photo mode
- new gameplay camera (closer and slightly to the side) that you can set for specific activities (horse riding, combat, exploration)
- you can pause during cutscenes now
- new secrets to discover by players
- netflix content (unlocking new armor and swords is added in immersive way - a new quest)
- graphics - ray tracing (global illumination and ambient occlusion), screen space reflections, FSR, DLSS
- new Ultra+ graphics options that do what we used to do with editing config files
Just goes to show how good the original looks even after all these years.

It's amazing how in the OG, clever tricks such as shadows or overexposure was used to cover up otherwise noticeable lower res textures, etc.. OG aged brilliantly well.

And don't get me started on the "definitive" edition of the GTA trilogy which were AI scripted upscaled versions of the MOBILE ports!

Rockstar hasn't released anything good since (the admittedly amazing) RDR2 and have become a shell of their former selves.

Personally think Hearts of Stone is the best questline in the game but family matters is great too
When i first played the game. The Bloody Baron questline felt like an entire game for me, while Velen was like the soul of Witcher 3.
Not to mention Heart of Stone and Blood & Wine. Man, i miss the BGM when walking around Skellige & Toussaint.
The best part is that after playing it after a few years, I have changed myself and therefore my choices are also different, thanks to which I experience the game from a different perspective!
And I don't have my ps4 saves too cause my Hard drive got courrpted. yay...
I have to start a fresh game so this is welcome update for me
One thing that looks promising and I haven't seen anyone else mentioning is in the original several of the cutscenes were prerendered so if you were wearing the alternative armor then the originals would show in these cut scenes and then it would switch back to the alternatives after which kind of break immersion. One of the 8 or 10 cutscenes that had this problem was when Ciri enters the tower to destroy the White Frost. Here they show her in the alternative armor but in the original it only shows the original because that scene was prerendered.
MASSIVE annoyance with Modded because the game would force their pre-rendered models completely fucking them up. which is why my Yennefer changed her hair during the battle. then shaved her head then had a completely new hairstyle after.
Yeah, I really hope the pre-rendered cutscenes are gone, they were horrible and were screwing up with modded outfits and the DLC.
A devolper said they worked it in real time for the update so no more pre-rendered cutscenes
Oh yeah i remember some of the scenes are pre rendered and it was quite low res too hopefully it isnt the case anymore :D

And its not just the texture. If you watch their full presentation, they have added many more QOL changes such as new Quick Cast for spells, which makes combat much more fluid.

Playing this for a second time and actually having a middling understanding of how crafting and potions work is going to be a real game changer 👌
Been a while since I've played, but I remember some items not transferring over well like the mutagens. Quest items and crafting recipes make sense to me when they don't transfer over, but I think mutagens should be able to carry over to new game plus. I'm also hoping that after the major update, that the developers will stick around and listen to some feedback just in case we encounter some bug and can suggest some slight improvements. I can't remember off the top of my head what else could need improvement. It's runs pretty smooth for me.
for a game that came out in 2015 the original still holds up. Glad it’s getting more love. Looks like better ray tracing

They’ve added way more content. From photo mode, different third person camera angles. Sign selection no longer pauses the game, can all be selected from the controller buttons. Can now pause the game while in cut scenes. Bug fixes. The list goes on.. 🙂

You could always quick swap signs. Just wasn't advertised very well. On Xbox, hold block and just left and right on the D pad
@@roachmonk that is still slow and not how it works now, in the new version you'll hold a button, let's say rt, and then press A for a sign, B for another and so on, it's much better than the current system

While it is my favorite game of all time, there is nothing objective about the word "best". People use different metrics for explaining why something is the best, and it could be different from person to person which is why best is a subjective word

Is it weird that the remastered version feels more familiar to me than the base one. Suppose the game really left a huge impact if I remember it looking better than it actually was.

-cross progression
-popular community mod integration

and it’s all for free! even if you expected more of an update, at least CDPR aren’t charging 20 dollars, or 60-70 dollars for it (unlike some companies).

I really hoped they added more npcs faces. It's looking good and i'll definitely play it, but man if they did that i'd be the happiest man alive
that would be like remaking the whole game, because a lot of generic looking npcs are part of quests in a significant way which will require to redo every single cutscene, we can only hope future games will have variety and diverse npcs

they only added stuff on existing work, maybe some quest added or what ever that didnt make it on time at the original release.

Totally agree Npc and Geralt also I hoped they would work on character models I understand they’re making 4 but this is just a wax polish this game deserves a full remake like what bluepoint studios did with Demon souls
Really really crazy that they did all this work for a free update. I expected ray tracing only, not brand new texture, gameplay updates, completely redone foliage, and on and on. They're really trying to make this game go down in gaming history(even more).

To be fair, a lot of these new textures and graphical enhancements are taken directly from mods that the community created. Still though, mad props to CDPR for implementing these officially into the game
It shows they have much passion for their craft, unlike many developers. We should feel blessed.
I’ve known tw3 for years but actually never played it. So I got it for sale yesterday and man I’m in love with this game. The atmosphere isn’t like any other game. Now that this graphical dlc is coming, I’ll be twice amazed.

Thats because witcher 3 sells well even today, and its hugely popular, so its a worthwhile investment to bring it closer to a modern standard. It will further sustain sales and keep the community lively. It was goty for a reason.

A more significant improvement than I was expecting. Kinda like of one of the bigger lighting mods was ever truly finished.
It's amazing how our eyes and our memories fill in the details that were missing in the older version that the new version adds.
Not really... It's just that you think current gen graphics are good until you experience better. Only by experiencing better is your bar raised then looking back you see how things are improved.

Still doesn't like much of a comparison for me. Old shots look like from a lower res video and pretty much all of them taken in different daytime (= different, often worse lighing). Sure the new shots will look better in this.

I have never fully dove into this game and I'm one of the lucky ones to get to experience this for the first time.
same, every time i've tried the bad framerates and clunky-AF controls put me off. hope they fixed that, otherwise i'll be signing off 2 hours in for like the 10th time.
I keep trying to get into it because everybody talks so good about it but every time I try to get into it I'll loose interest and it gets boring, usually around the same time too 😂 I get to the first cave quest teaching you about elemental spells and after acouple waves of enemies i got bored.....
its incredible how no matter what a company do there is never enough for the people its a free update that make it look better as it clearly looks like that here and even then people say is looking the same and its not gonna be worth it sony literally charge 70 bucks for a remaster like this and they only changed the textures this is getting some gameplay mechanics that change a new camera more upclose and to the side new RT ilumination, HDR support really good looking textures and even better character models and still you complain....
and it’s free imagine the reaction if they had to pay 20 bucks :D

The update does more for the game than other next gen editions do by a long shot. GTA V only included ray traced shadows, TAA, some better car interiors and explosion effects and they even charged people for it. The update isn't even on PC. Fallout won't get close to this either considering Bethesda's track record. Here we're getting a completely overhauled lighting system, better effects, new foliage, completely overhauled textures and some overhauled models, a couple of new quests alongside the new items for which they brought back all the Geralt voice actors, a complete Chinese localization, ray tracing, and QOL features and people still complain...
I finished the campaign and all dlc over the summer. All trophies acquired on the ps4. Was really hoping to get it done before the next gen update.
I’m ready to walk the path once again.

I am gonna play it 5th time with next gen ugrade and I think it is not going to be as much fun as first time. Ive never played something so good in my life. Game is Master piece. Wish I can remove it from my memory so I can play it once again for the first time.
@@lazarmitrovic180 Technically it was my 2nd time but the first time, it wasn’t in its entirety or even all the trophies. I played it on release but never got to fully enjoy it cause I was in the military at the time and my schedule was crazy. I also have a back log of games I always intended on completing, and the Witcher 3 was one of them. But you’re right, I’ll count it as my first with next gen as 2nd play through, I did forget a lot of it prior to this past Summer.
By the time I finished Blood & Wine, I was mentally exhausted, talk about a journey 😂

Ok so its a beloved game. A classic. A masterpiece. And quite possibly the best story driven rpg to date. A fresh coat of paint for a classic car. Not only is it free but brings a relevant graphic update for new players to make it more current. Not ground-breaking. But its always welcome. Time for another playthrough i think lol.
It’s a good way to draw in new players who would pass over it due to its age, despite the fact that it’s aged fine. The fantastic artistic creativity already elevates it, but improved graphical fidelity doesn’t hurt :)
It’s more like fresh coat of paint, modern tires, suspension upgrade, engine tune, full maintenance service and detailing. Graphic fidelity is one thing, and it’s quite big including global ssao, raytracing, Textures project „HD rework by Halk Hogan”, new meshes to be used instread of normal maps, improved reflections, clouds, new weather conditions etc, but Why thousands of other changes are overlooked? Few mods that got adapted, fixed many bugs and bugged quests, improved UI, gameplay mechanics, photo mode, new cameras, new quests, better animations, new voice lines recorded by original actors in all languages, completely new dubbing for Chinese, alternative skins inspired by Netflix show and more + stuff that CDPR won’t speak about to not spoil any surprises.
200+ hours of my life given to the new upgrade! I've been holding off on a new game just for this! It's very uncharacteristic of me to wait. :D

Next gen update seems to update lightning and skin textures in a major way. I think Hi-res texture will be a part of this update.

You all prioritise the ray tracing so much you forget how ugly the lighting of the base game changed from e3 version. If you put the E3 version of lighting which also has global illumination and take away any ray tracing features. The game will look significantly better then this. Because the entire game's lighting would change and that the game's lighting determines how a game looks and representing. Red dead redemption 2 is a fine example that a game can look significantly better even without ray tracing.
I Played this game again a week ago in Death March Mode.. every place and mission is really bringing me back to 2015.. Love the game
I feel like the scenes from the original are just much more heavily compressed. These video compression artifacts don't turn up during actual gameplay, though, just on UA-cam.
I never finished the game back in 2017 when I played it last on pc so I'm very much looking forward to playing through the entire game again when this next gen update releases!!

What a game... Might have to play it again, then again I'll have to actually buy a new GFX card that can handle the new detail level! As much as I love it, the open world nature actually broke the immersion for me as I decided very early on to explore everything instead of assaulting the main campaign. I recall leaving Yen on the shores of Skellig and literally spending months of i game time looting, doing random quests and playing Gwent with people whilst Ciri's life hung in the balance 🤣

It looks kinda the same to me. Bit clearer and a bit better material and texture work, not a bad update at all but still. Not night and day but an improvement for sure
Most reasonable comment tbh. Most other people seem to think it's either amazing or trash.
If you focus on the foliage the improvement in the foliage is what really struck me
You-Tube compression doesn't do it justice at all. On your own TV the difference will be much more noticeable. Won't even need 4K to tell the improvement. Biggest differences will be better lighting effects, improved higher resolution textures, and 60 FPS. Plus it's a free upgrade if you own the original. If you never played the original, this is still 100% worth it even without upgrades, but I guarantee the difference will be stark after playing for yourself.
I question your ability to see, the environments are absolutely leagues apart, and the character models have way more definition, not to mention the clothes looking more defined, and that’s not mentioning the lighting. Maybe it’s because I’m just playing the game of the year edition, but it’s clear that this update is leagues better than the original.
The adjustable camera angle and the quick flip to spell (without stopping the game) won me over.
Rewatched in .5x a couple times. The textures and higher poly models do look about the same as current mods. But the lighting is actually better, not hugely so, but it’s definitely noticeable. The rest of the seemingly obvious differences and coming from the fact that the videos are at different times of the day.
Maybe the lighting is besser because of raytraycing? "not hugely"? Its about realism and you cant get much better than that.
I also feel that the characters’ faces are more expressive than the old version. I haven’t played the game in a couple of years so I may be wrong, but the characters’ movements and expressions seem to be improved.
It also seems that the horrible pre-rendered cutscenes are gone, that always annoyed me when you had a modded outfit and suddenly Geralt switched to Vanilla in the cutscene.
@@namelessbard2124 I think it's pretty unlikely that they did anything to improve existing facial animations...but I suppose it's not completely impossible.
I watched the trailer and was like: this looks exactly the same. The only thing I noticed watchinf this videonis that NPCs look better.
one thing i just noticed with the crones as i read into slavic mythology, i couldnt help but notice the striking similiarity to sudice (fate deciding ghosts), reading on a bit they are inspired in part by Shakespears Three witches in Macbeth, who are inspired by greek Moiriai, who are the greek equivalent of Sudice (pagan religions often have similiar gods and beings to greek mythology just with different names)
As for physical changes like Netflix Witcher armor and gear, there should be an ENABLE and DISABLE feature for that. Some of us like the original designs more.

Hmm I don't remember the original looking that bad. Are you comparing the full PC version running on high settings or the one that was cut down to the bare minimum to run on consoles?
What get me more excited are the quest fixes.
I played it 2 years ago, and I got stucked in a lot of quest bugs, there's one quest that it's multiple choice, that I needed to select the choice that I didn't wanted to do, because the other one were buggy and not working.
I don't remember getting a single game breaking bug when I played it.
@@TheRealestEric I had a lot and mine is GOTY edition with all dlcs + if you go to any witcher forum, you will see a lot of peoples complanes about quests bugs, including bugs that make the progress impossible, if aint wrong, there's one quest from the Expansion which I didnt conpleted because of this.
There's so much quests bugs that they needed to tell in this video as a feature.
Of course not everyone played sawquests bugs, but we cant deny that the quests are full of bugs to a lot of people.
I never had any major bugs and i played it day 1 through in 1 week. Replayed it 2 times after that with 100% with both addons.

I needed this comparison. I played the game a while ago and because of all the mods and reshade, the next gen trailer is how I actually remember the game...
Sharper textures, yes... but I really prefer the lighting, colours and shading of the original.
Ciri's eyes look terribly CG in the new version. Don't think this was done by the same artists who made the original.
The change is really cool. Very nice upgrade in comparison of the 2015 version.

TBH there appears to be very little difference unless you are trying really hard to spot the differences. Just shows what a technical achievement the W3 when it came out in 2015.
There is a decent difference, especially with lighting but yes the original was remarkable as well
I'm pumped for this. Great game and the original graphics were great at the time. I think it's very encouraging how CDPR looks to their fanbase and a lot of the common mods (such as the HD 4K graphical overhaul) were included or at least provided source material for watch the community was looking for. Next this is free.... and then there's Bethesda - I love the game but very different way of treating the community. I think CDPR's will grow the game, popularity and sales and of course can't wait for Witcher 4 on Unreal Engine! :)
Believe it or not, the thing that will make biggest difference for me is that optional minimap!!!
I feel like 70% of game I was looking at minimap, but the fact it will be hidden when exploring (unless hold witcher sense) means I will actually look at the game!

Having used Halk Hogan's HD Reworked Project along with STLM and others, I think I have already played and completed the remastered version several times.
Cutscenes seems like watching a movie and also the graphics looks good. I played this game over 800+ and every time playing a new game i discovering something new! i really hope they also add something new like additional quest. İ'm really can't wait to play again.
Don't know how you managed that, I'd 100% the game in about 150 hours 🤷

Bought this ages ago for my Series X but decided to wait till the 60fps patch came out. Now I can finally play the game in 60fps, AND I get a load of other next gen upgrades too...FOR FREE! GG to CDPR!

unortunately playing at 60FPS won't allow you to take advantage of the graphics upgrade. lame imo but it is free so there's that. I picked it up for $5 from GS the other day so I'll give it a try.

Is the OG footage 1080p? Because it doesn't look that blurry in 4K and it doesn't seem like there is AF with those extremely muddy textures in the distance and at angles.
That is quite a dramatic upgrade, especially the lighting so much improved.

I loved Witcher 2 but never actually played 3. Looks like this might be a good reason for me to finally dive in and see what all the hype's about.

It never looked like that on my pc. I think I turned the bloom off. So this update will mostly be a texture and a lighting update. And the dlss should be very nice.

Image on the right notes "footage captured on high-end PC'. So this is actually a comparison of last-gen console vs current high-end PC... or at the very least, 2015 Potato vs current high-end PC. The PC release isn't massively different after the update.
Yeah, I started the game up with everything put on Ultra+ as well as RDNA 2 provided by a 6750 XT. The differences aren't that big.
I last played Witcher 3 back in 2019 and decided to download it again after finishing Witcher 2 and playing it again last night. I had noticed the graphics looked alot more lush than how I remembered it. I totally thought it was just my head as I had finished playing Witcher 2 and probably had the fresh memory of the graphics standard of that game and although the graphics leap from w2 to w3 was pretty large, I still couldn't help but think how lush the graphics looked in Witcher 3. Bare in mind I was not aware of the graphics update cd projekt red made recently so after finding that out, it made all sense

Replacing the video cutscenes with in-game one was a great idea. Looks a lot better and the videos won't use storage

You need check with HD Reworked, so maybe there not will be a huge difference. This is update more valuable for console players,
HD Reworked mod was incorporated in the update along with other mods. beside that they added other things good for PC. Global illumination, Screen space reflections, better foliage, improved streaming, and DLSS and FSR support. Also there are some quality of life updates like the option to change the camera for combat and exploration, the option of quick use of signs without going to the radial menu, and other things.
Man during Covid, I was grinding this every single day from the moment I woke up till I went to sleep.
I just started playing this game again, 2015 version, but with 150+ mods installed. I can't believe how closely this new version resembles mine visually. Love this game more than I can explain.
