For the antenna you can use guitar string or acupuncture needles ,and the needles come with a spiral bace perfect for antenna base .

Great tips. I’ve used steel Rod before. Just wanted to use the kit supplied parts to showcase the model here. Issue with guitar strings and steel Rod is they don’t taper. They are a constant thickness which is another reason why I used these parts.
      Really appreciate you suggestions 🙏💪

Wicked Tiger Clayton! Have to admit that I was initially very dubious about that camo scheme but it’s come up a treat once the filters and weathering was applied. I rate oil dot filters and often use them to tone down WW1 lozenge fabric on German aircraft.
I hope to see it at ScaleACT. 😊

Hey Craig. Doing these multipart videos can be a little confronting at times, but I guess it’s good for everyone to watch the journey taking it from more or less a toy to something that looks real(ish).

You really went through this build in a layered approach. I also like to apply a step, recompose and apply the next step. This creates a moderate buildup of effects resulting in this case in a Wicked Tiger 🐅💥👍💥

When it comes to sponge chipping my fist contact wit the model is a quick dab on the bottom to make sure I had taken enough paint out of the spoung. I do this every time I reload the sponge. Nothing worse than putting a blob of chipping paint on the model and having to start over.
Have you ever concidered chipping the zimmerit coating with a slightly darkened color of Buff. As you know the coating was quite suseptible to chipping and cracking when hit by flying debris.
Nice looking project it has got me rethinking my next tiger project.

    • @workbenchhobbies4316
      @workbenchhobbies4316  2 місяці тому

Hey! Great tip with the sponge, and yes, this is something I generally do myself. Re the Zimmerit, I added my chipping effects to that in the painting video - not sure if you saw that one ? They just tended to tone down during the weathering so are probably not that obvious. Thanks for taking the time to join in the conversation 🙏

Wicked tiger - wicked, a great term of appreciation from Cheltenham high school in Victoria the early 1980s - a time when I first developed my passion for scale models! Getting back into the hobby thanks to UA-camrs such as you. Keep up producing these videos which are a fantastic inspiration!

I have learnt a lot by watching your build and weathering videos, and have adopted a few of your weathering methods with great success, so I thank you for that. Very nice wicked Tiger. I've received my own Takom Mid but I've put it off for now cause I don't want to mess it up with a messy paintjob (no airbrush)... Gonna try experimenting with stippling/drybrushing camo onto a Tamiya Panther and a Tamiya Tiger Late before I even touch the Takom kit. I also need to invest in aftermarket tracks since my Tamiya Tiger indy tracks crumbled on me, haha.

Hey 👋 can be tricky trying to replicate German 3 tone schemes brush painting. I know some of the tigers were monotone…maybe you could look for one of those schemes.

@@workbenchhobbies4316 Asked a similar thing on Facebook and David Bryden said that many Mid Tigers initially came out with just Dunkelgelb and a white wash... Nevertheless, if I can get stippled/feathered camo that looks presentable and can be modified with oils, pigments, washes, etc...

Looks great. A bit too red for my liking but in the end its what you like the most. The foilage looks fantastic.
Instead of post shading, maybe you can try preshading. Since you use brush/sponge chipping this will work. I havent used post shading, but I will try now thanks to your video.
    Happy building!

    • @workbenchhobbies4316

I’ve noticed different screens seem to present this more red than others. Even when I looked on my tv at home it was quite vivid. It really toned down but appreciate its not for everyone.
And far too many layers on this one for pre-shade to make any difference, hence went down the post shade route. I do love that technique 😄
Appreciate you sharing your thoughts 🙏🍺

Great finish on one of the tuffest , factual schemes you can attempt for the "wicked tiger " 1 . Well done for plugging away and trusting the process. I had the same doubts when doing a hard edge , 3 tone camo on a dml sd.kfz7 flak 37 . Horrific until that first filter .. then , sorted , no longer toy like . Thanks for the vids . M

Many thanks Martin. I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about tackling this scheme for the videos, just because of how nasty it can look during the process. But like you said, trust the process and the result will appear.
      Good luck 🙏🍀🐯🍺
