As the owner of a 525SL i really like it. Ive also really liked how solid and hard wearing laminates are. Shrugs off bad weather and clay fragments without any bother, and the density makes it very soft shooting. May have to get this one..
I am a Beretta fan and only shoot Beretta shotguns. The quality of the shotguns is very good. What I miss are nice wooden stocks. The Turkish manufacturers often have nicer stocks even for cheaper shotguns.
I’ve noticed that you can get a Franchi with some seriously beautiful wood for about half the price of a beretta. I still prefer the berettas but if you’re looking for nice wood and still getting a nice Italian shotgun under the Benelli umbrella, it’s a good choice!
Love the aesthetics. Currently run a 690 black and have been looking to upgrade to a 694 but this might deserve a hard look. Now if they’d made a 694 in this aesthetic I’d be all over it.
I have a 694 pro with the TSK stock and have been thinking about changing it. I got the email from Beretta about this last week and instantly fell in love with the looks. I really like the black wood and the orange detailing. Thanks for the first look and the pricing info 👍 Looking forward to seeing how it shoots and handles.
So Beretta now offers five levels of sporting guns. I'm very happy with my 694 but I could see myself buying one of these as well. Looking forward to your full review.
Browning have three laminated 525s. Beretta needed to release a laminate to get a share of that market. Looking forward to seeing the road test. It's a fair wedge pricier than the 525 SL and XS Pro laminate.
Can't wait for the full review. I have a 686 evo as my first gun and have been pondering on a new gun. Think this could be the one. Look forward to your shooting opinion to maybe seal the deal. Although not sure about a laminate stock wonder if they will do a walnut option in the future.
The wood I see on examples of the 686 Sporting looks like pallet-grade walnut to me, and whenever I look at a faux grain "upgraded" one I get preoccupied with figuring out which part is fake. This is an honest, eye-catching and rugged solution. The logos look fine, but I could do without the lines milled in the sides. If I was looking to spend $3k it'd get consideration.
I think this gun will suit a lot of people. However is that a new Tudor FXD GMT on your wrist? I’d be equally interested in your take on the FXD range??
Well spotted. I like tool watches and the Pelagos is lovely, but I had decided to pass until they released the new GMT. It’s a stunning piece in the wrist.
How does the action weight compare to the original 68x series? For example the first gen 682´s? I´ve always found the old 68x better handling than the post 2000 ones.
Umm I like the idea of it but not the price I think some will like it but for a bit more money you could get into a 694 if it was priced at a few hundred pounds more then a silver pigeon it would be good value.
This looks great I wonder how the trap one will be to handle as I have a 694 at present in sporting but looking to get a Trap gun and Im torn between a New 694 Trap or the New 688?
If you’re using a lot of shells practicing for competitions then £3000 is probably money well spent. But for me being poor I will probably stick with my mk38 that seems to keep working.😊
So glad they brought back the best gun they ever made. 682 Gold E. cant wait to get a set of tubes to fit my 682. YAAAAAAAAA who Beretta . great thinking
Lloyd your reviews are great. I joined as a supporter but then your basis membership got nothing except a badge that as I was supporter, and could not see other reviews. So anyway joining as a basic member as a supporter with no other change was a non-plus for me. So I canceled promptly. You might might be like TGS and if you are a member you can see your extra reviews.

Personally I don’t care much for firearms that look like they came from a brothel. Nothing wrong with a laminate stock on a Duck gun, but even then they aren’t for me. I want my pump to look as close to a model 12 as possible, my auto an A5 and my O/U a Boss and SxS a Westley Richards drop lock. Guns are like dogs. The farther away you get from looking like a wolf, the lesser they become. But that’s just me, and I’d be lousy at marketing 😁👍🏼

Still waiting for my interview, but I do have my eye on the 525SL. Hopefully soon 😊
Nice first look. Thank you. I do like the orange!

I think that if the Turks can put nice wood on a gun for cheap then so should the Italians be able to. Why would I pay a premium for ugly laminate?
Love the aesthetics.

Theres a 694 black edition cerakote i picked up yesterday, gold engraving and letters, looks tidy, but this looks better and more stealthy
Beretta always offer good value. Think this will be a winner
@ Serious about what?
@@MR12GAUGE Curious what you shoot and at what?

Bought the 688 last week.. it feels like Barretta built me a gun! LOVE IT..

Spot on, many of us shooters have been waiting. It's a higher value for what you pay!
I thank that a nice piece of kit.
Looking forward to seeing the main view 👍
Functional. Looks good. The back of the action stippling looks like the SL2. Thanks!
Don't have a shotgun yet and haven't really started doing the research but that one looks fantastic to me!
They should produce this 688 in shadow line as well, it could be a lot stylish.
Good first look. Interested to know your thoughts after you shoot one. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Grant
Great no nonsense video , what about a Beretta blue and gold graphics?
3:09 So when do we get to see your new gun? 😀 I know what it is, but still... 😁
Beautiful gun!
I really enjoy the way it sounds!
I think it's a good price, on a first impression!
Great video thanks from Ireland
🇺🇲👍🏻

How's the job hunt going, mate all the best Lawrence
Nice looking gun, I look forward to the review 😎😎😎😎😎
do they make it in left hand

Going to be my first gun for clays that I own

@@scwazrh well spotted.
@ so many watch guys are into shooting as well.Should do a watch collection vid as well.
Looks fantastic. Not sure that the relatively nominal upgrades with a laminate stock is worth the $1k USD difference between a 686 and the new 688
Yes you are right, it was just this bright color that I didn't like about the gun otherwise nice gun. Nice review by the way.
Lloyd I will be interested to hear your thoughts after you have tested it purely as a 525SL of course
Just waiting for it to come out in left handed
How does the action weight compare to the original 68x series? For example the first gen 682´s? I´ve always found the old 68x better handling than the post 2000 ones.
Sorry, but laminate screams cheap, like late-WWII Mausers. I don't see mechanical upgrades making up the price difference.
Umm I like the idea of it but not the price I think some will like it but for a bit more money you could get into a 694 if it was priced at a few hundred pounds more then a silver pigeon it would be good value.
I really like that laminated wood
What’s the length of forcing cones compared to 694? It’s a contender for me as was about to go s/h 694, let’s see how it shoots.
This looks great I wonder how the trap one will be to handle as I have a 694 at present in sporting but looking to get a Trap gun and Im torn between a New 694 Trap or the New 688?
Same ......... waiting for the review
Hmm, I havent tried the trap one, is this just fir DTL or ABT?
@lloydyp it would ve for DTL
Muy excelente arma amigos belleza
Will it come in regular wood as opposed to laminate?
Doubt it.
Why not just put laminate on the 690 sporter or is that what has happened 😂 looks fast orange again! Not negative just inquisitive!
If you’re using a lot of shells practicing for competitions then £3000 is probably money well spent. But for me being poor I will probably stick with my mk38 that seems to keep working.😊
Is this placed above the 694 or under it? Is it above the 686 and the 692?
As I literally said in the video. It sits between the 686 and the 694. The 692 is out of production.
Thinking of buying a gun for sporting clays. Might this be suitable 🤔
Well, yeah.
So, it has an aluminium action?
No, why would you think that?
@ Because you mentioned they used the action from the ultralite
@TheJeffpanda no I said it was based on the tooling from the ultralight.
@ oh ok my misinterpretation then!!
No bother man.
Matches your shirt 😂
What does a 694 offer over 688🤷♂️
I like it.
So glad they brought back the best gun they ever made. 682 Gold E. cant wait to get a set of tubes to fit my 682. YAAAAAAAAA who Beretta . great thinking
Don't like the stock ...what happens if you scratch it? At least with wood you can sand it and re oil it
This is better in that regard. Sand the typical mid-tier Beretta, and you'll take half the "grain" off it.
Nice but it's over price
They be optima hp not optima plus
To late Browning got there first!
Are spacers available to increase the length of pull?
@@spency787 microcore pads are available in a range of sizes.
@@lloydyp thanks for the reply 👍
Not a lot different then past models . Gun still goes bang when you pull the trigger. Plastic guns are the norm now, sad but true.
Sorry not plastic laminate stock.
👌
Do like the look of that. There's a space in the cabinet next to the 692 🙄
Pass. I'm more of a blued steel & classical looks kind of guy. It's also a bit heavier than I prefer for clays.

Looks nice, probably £200-£300 too expensive vs an XS and the 694.
I quite like it and I'm not really a big fan of most Berettas.
Love it

I REALLY like seeing these more modern/geometric design choices being tried BUT… it should be REAL wood at these prices
Not laminates
I've had 3 BERETTAS they all broke customer service sucks bought A PERAZZI no problems 😂😂😂😂😂😂
