Hey Keith, I just moved to DC so I’ll be fishing a good bit down your way here soon, originally from SC and they way we found most productive was 3 lines port side rod had a 2-3oz egg weight with a 10’ leader to spoon, stbd side had the #1 or #2 planar same set up, and the center rod about 40 yds back on a 2oz sinker just to keep it under the surface, my sister and I limited out in about 30 min. If you see a white over black flats boat that’s me. Tight lines!
Nice content on your video. First time on the channel. Didn't realize that the mackerel were so thick up that far north. We got onto them this year off central florida. Non stop action. Tight lines......
sand bridge is the way to go we’ve gotten monster spanish and bluefish trolling down there. also if you try right outside of lynnhaven inlet with gotcha plugs you can load up on them! When you are trolling you don’t need to go too far off maybe 150-200 yards from the actual beach. You will see bunker bait balls and dolphins the mack’s are all up in there. Also if you get a small “bird” and put it a little further then the rest of your lines that works real good to get the fish’s attention.
Southern Reels Fishing Hey we were diving at the chesapeake light tower yesterday and spanish were literally everywhere! They were jumping a ton. we got them on gotcha plugs 22 inchers!
The few times we trolled for spanish we only catch em as close to beach as comfortable in the boat. What depths are you able to go and still be successful? It would be more fun if I could figure out how to catch em in deeper water so i wouldnt have to watch for water being too shallow constantly.
I was in 15 to 25 ft this day. They were thick though. Use your sonar to help find them. If the water upwells the colder Temps will push them out deeper. It happened a week after this video and they all moved a couple miles off shore. 60 plus ft deep
@@SouthernReelsFishing yes they troll for salmon, trout and walleye where I live . Lake Erie and Ontario. I couldn't imagine paying for a charter and waiting for the mate to hook a fish trolling and then handing me the rod. Hell no
A friend who helps keep your boat clean as you go... That guy is a unicorn! Best keeper in the boat 😂🦄

That was the year of the macks as we called it. It had not been that good since... crazy
That's a great day of fishing I grew up trolling for blues and mackerel haven't done it in years but tons of fun
Nice job man ! You got the hang of it now ... enjoy those tasty fillets
They were definitely great

We tried by sandbridge and didn't get much, did better a little north

Just subscribed.
Nice video. I like watching from a different place then Florida were I'm from.
Thanks for the video.
Tight lines.....
Thanks for the sub!
when you wrap you rig up on the reel get the smallest bungee you can find and you can hook your spoon to the nearest guide up on the trolling rod
This is great!! I’ve been a fresh water guy for a long time and trying to get into salt water this video was super informative
Cool
You mentioned 6.5, was that mph for the trolling speed?
What size is your main line? Mono or braid?
Heck yeah buddy! You need to come get them outta the surf with me
Maybe one day soon
What lures are those?
How fast are you guys trolling for these?
Edit: nvm, missed the prompt for 7 to 8 mph.
So with a 15 ft leader, with a planar, whatcha gonna do if you hook a bigger fish?
Dont know hasnt happened yet lol

Now you gotta do it in the yak, tons of fun!
Do you troll in the kayak or just cast to the spanish?
@@WinkOutdoors you can't paddle fast enough in a kayak
I installed the Humminbird Helix with side view like what you did in
another vid. Are you satisfied with its performance on your Outback?
Weeks making a celebrity appearance. Nice mess of Spanish. Played ball with Jason. Hellava guy.
Lol yeah he's really nice
Great action--my only question is, while you're hauling 'em in, who's driving the boat?
Lol autopilot
Looks like fun!
Heck yah man great video love catching them like that hopefully I'll be at the cbbt spear fishing Sunday
Get em Dusty!
trolling is not my preferred method but I could get into that.
It was fun this way, pretty much non stop action. I do still prefer casting
What size spoons are these 3”????
I believe so
What’s the point your throwing them back
Awesome video Jesse. What software are you using to edit videos?
Thanks! Adobe Premiere
Did you stop kayak fishing??
Nope
Troll some birds with spoons on leader. That is nice to watch.
Keep em they taste great
Nice video but honestly trolling with heavy tackle on a fast boat is kind of boring a the fish put up no fight at all
Doesn't look like much fun; those planers seem to take all the fight out of them.
Yeah I'm not a big fan of this. But it does put meat in the boat
Seems a bit too fast but you are catching.
If we slowed down any we started getting bluefish. At the higher speed it was only Spanish
No thanks. Putting fish in the boat but trolling definitely ain't for me
Yeah I gave it shot too, not exactly my style of fishing
