Spot on! Here around the Mayport Jetties in Jax, Fl...when the birds are working the glass minnows, the Spanish are almost always under them. Yes, the size 00 or 0 Clark spoon is the best...I love the green reflection tape the best too. Literally hard to keep one in the water without getting bit, I use a mono leader and rarely lose a lure ..99.9 percent will hook right thru the bottom lip.
I appreciate the suggestions. I am sure the technique works. The will also hit crippled herrings lure. When it doesn’t, I suggest use a double hook hoochie with bonita strip baits. The SM hit hard and get hooked. Tight lines.
Well I know that this is an older video but I did find one thing wrong with it ! " I wasn't on the boat " have'n fun catching some of them Mac's , the release method on the barrel was neat never saw it before no slime on your hands or fuss'n just drop em in and flog the water good job great video .👍🏼
Thanks for the Amazing video. Could you please explain what line & leader are you using? I always thought the spoons are really light and can't be casted out far! Is that a size 02 Clarkspoon?
I try to use minimal terminal tackle. I would rather tie a knot than trust in a swivel or snap. Plus it adds more to change the natural action of lures and more visible to the fish 👊
Been watching mackerel videos for a few hours now and this is the best one all around
Thank you! 🙏
DUDE.....THIS IS THE BEST AND SIMPLEST FISHING VIDEO IVE EVER SEEN!!
Badass!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Best and simplest video ever.. great technique! Thanks man!
Was browsing and come across your video, and you give a whole new meaning to over the rail and in the pail!!😎 great video captain... Carolina beach NC

You make it look way too easy! Lol

When I see a video like this of a commercial guy out in the grey sky, I always think of the Billy Joel song The Downeaster Alexa.
Lure is cool ... great...🎣🎣...👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Thank you!
Thanks for these useful tips. Would this technique and those lures also work with cero mackerel on the reef?
Outstanding!
How look is your leader from the braid ?? Great info .
About 20". Doesn't need to be too long.
Awesome video. No swivel? I guess the spoon doesn't spin underwater?
Thanks for the Amazing video. Could you please explain what line & leader are you using? I always thought the spoons are really light and can't be casted out far! Is that a size 02 Clarkspoon?
I use #30 braid and #80 fluorocarbon leader. #2 Clarkspoons are light but with lightline they can be casted plenty far!
@@CaptMattBudd Awesome! Thank you!
Awesome 👍
Hello Captain Matt bud I am Colson
Thanks for visiting!
Matt what is that lure called ,and make and size and where do you buy awesome video
Clark spoon #2
Great video!
What size and # strength leader (assuming mono because of the teeth) and what size spoons are you using in this video?
Awesome video 👍🏾 Are you using a swivel.
Matt what brand fitted engine cover are you running? Great video again
I'm not really sure. Shop online and find the best deal! Mine is for a Evinrude ETec 250
Awensome man 👍
🙏
Hello Capt, did you use swivel and snap in this rig? If not, is it necessary to use them? Thanks
I try to use minimal terminal tackle. I would rather tie a knot than trust in a swivel or snap. Plus it adds more to change the natural action of lures and more visible to the fish 👊
@@CaptMattBudd i received the clarkspoon I ordered online and seems pretty light to cast off from the pier. Did you use a weighted one?
How about vertical jigging?
HTH can you tell that mark is a Spanish vs another fish?
👍👍👍👍
When you use the drones, do you tow or cast and retrieve like you did the Clake spoon?
Thanks
good~👍
what about inshore like piers and jetties how am i supposed to find them
That's definitely a little tougher. Just cast out some fleas and see if they bite!
I've never seen mackerel caught this easy, can you please tell me the size and make of your Clarke Spoon, thanks.
Size: Looked like the medium or large size to me. Definitely not the small one.
Make: ClarkSpoons is the brand.
@@zash008 Thanks very much, our fish here in Barbados went to University,so I've yet to catch one with the Clarke Spoon.😂
I like the hat any link for that? Thanks
They sell them at bass pro shops
Were you anchored or drifting
I almost always anchor for the macks capt. They're holding on the reef and the chum works best when you're on the hook.
@@CaptMattBudd I figured, I've done well doing that with kings as well, thanks for the reply. Tight lines!
I see ground swell!
JUMBOS
Every time I get into smacks they bust the line. What pound test leader do you have on? Got to be 80 or so for their teeth? Wouldn’t wire work better?
I like #60 and #80 fluorocarbon
what's the bag limit for where you live???
This is a commercial fishing trip. My limit is 3500 pounds.
Gotta say it looks like a beautiful experience without the disgusting sun shining. This isnhow i would fish.
Are you drifting or anchored??
Anchored!
I think Mackerel`s high school is there,,
Definitely
Mmmmm Sierra mak ceviche
It's delicious!
Subd
🤙
Lol Did you reach your limit?
Gtlreat vid but they are spotted mac's not spanish.
They are not spanish mackerel !
Look like spotties not Spanish
