- I headed out with artificial and live bait to fish the nearshore ocean for flounder fishing and whatever else would bite. I quickly realized the beach off Oak Island, Nc was loaded with Spanish Mackerel. I guess the fall Spanish run has begun.
I don't use a 10' leader...but the Clark spoons will catch anything 😊
what type of combo are you rockin looks nice
Shimano Tld 15 and a 7’ Ugly Stick
Reckon I could catch Spanish in the surf at Holden Beach?
I don’t see why not. There’s usually some that stick around all season.
@garybfishing1309 I'm going to try then, thanks
Put one of them little macks out with some trebles and slow troll for a king
I have done it before. The next time I do I’ll make a video. Thanks for the suggestion
What time of year
This time of year. I live bait trolled pogies last Wednesday and caught a King and a huge Spanish. The next day nothing
Maybe the best comment I’ve ever heard during a fishing video:
“Look at that ball of bait, ought to be somethin’ around that...” picks up drink, takes a swig...”there he is” 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That’s the only time fish are guaranteed to bite. When you’re eating or drinking.
Gary, I used Lockwood inlet 2 weeks ago. Is that round metal pipe sticking up in the middle of the inlet the blockade runner?
Yes and you need to fish it. I’ve caught trout off that wreck
Awesome! What were you using? if you don’t mind me asking?
I was using a small gold Clark Spoon.
Did those rod holders come with your boat? I'm looking to add holders like yours to my boat so I can get the rod more off the side of the boat. I like how yours tilt out.
No. I added them on. I ordered them from Cannon. You know, the same company that makes the downrigger. You can order different length tracks to mount the rod holders.
@@garybfishing1309 Thank you very much for providing the information. I'm going to pickup a couple of these!!
Np. They keep you from having to lean out of the boat to pull the rod from the rod holder.
woahhhhhhh😲 how fast were you trolling?
5-6 mph. Got most of the bites around 5 mph
Just a stupid question. If you trolling only one rod, when the fish hooked up, what's the reason for keeping the motor in trolling motion?
If I were trolling only one rod, yes. I was trolling two.
Nice mackerel ,good eats!!!
Yes . I gave most away to friends.
Only ti.e I've seen smaller mackerel is in Maine. Guess our Florida Cero mackerel would blow his mind. Usually 8 to 10 pound average. Guess they eat good but not much of a fight. Be fun on ultra light tackle
Mind officially blown Stew. You are the man.
