As a fellow resin artist, I would recommend (even with using a deep cast resin) to do a couple shallower pours instead of one big one. This way you can limit the heat reactions and it can help with the bubbles reaching the surface and popping before it cures. One thing I've done in my bigger projects is pour a shallow base layer, let it cure til it gets kind of gloopy and gel-like. Then pour the next layer. Or you can wait til each layer is fully cured and lightly sand the surface before pouring the next layer. I loved making dice a long time ago, and this makes me want to get those molds back out! Loved this!!
@@borjaslamic Probably, sponsored videos tend to have a deadline set by the sponsor, and some creators get too many sponsors to allocate enough time to each individual sponsored project...Kinda sucks, but still turned out neat regardless.
getting a bigger vacuum and putting it in there after the pour would get rid of this step completely and eliminates seeing the layers of each pour, to do this hed have had to make a big cube of resin then shape it into a dice after it was cured which would increase the resin waste and take more time ofc but its really the only way to have a deep bubble-less resin pour with no layers
The air brushing behind the dragon actially makes it so much cooler. Great job Jazza! And shoutout to Evan and Kaitlyn for passing on their learnings haha
The final project is awesome! You should watch/ talk to Ben's Worx. He does deep resin all the time. He also likes to experiment with different substances within resin to see how they handle it. Ya'll are my two favorite Australian UA-camrs.
OMG, since you started to talk about the big pour for this project all I could think about was:"Ask Evan and Katelyn for some advice!" and you did and I'm just freaking out! 😅😂😂😂❤❤❤
Beautiful dragon! I love what you do, by the way. An idea: when you’ve put lots of effort into sculpting something, and plan to encase it in resin, maybe you could take a 3D scan of it first, so you could print it again if the resin goes awry.
Funny I was thinking of Evan and Kaytlins pumpkin video hoping you may have seen it to hear of the fridge idea and glad you did and tried it. For a giant pour, it turned out awesome 👌 I think the blue-purple light shows the most of the dragon inside. Great job 👏 👍
I love the long video, I love the result, and I love the seemingly natural collab/cameo - not just with Evan and Kaitlyn but the Nerdecrafter airbrush too :)
Just absolutely amazing. Even the little "flaws", the parts that keep it from being perfect in Jazza's eyes, just add so much character to the end result.

I'm really liking the video length of both this and the most recent TTT video! Somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes feels like a sweet spot for these kinds of videos.
Knowing how hard it is to pull this off, because I have seen the annual Evan&Katelyn video. It's the highlight of my haloween each year ☺ Your.. thing.. (apologies for my lack of D&D lore vocabulary lol) I think it looks like a legit artifact from a fantasy realm. It's so near perfect that he minor imperfections actually give it more character. I'm very impressed.
This was kind of an emotional watch for me. Seeing raw honesty of his struggles and he kept going for the sake of his team and creativity.... to end up here with an awesome outcome this cool. Just makes me feel inspired. It also helps that I have been no-lifing Baldur's Gate 😂. I love the maker community.
The way at the start of this I went “huh he should do a collab with Evan and katelyn one of these days since he likes to play with resin too” AND THEN THEY SHOW UP- I lost it and hope I didn’t scare my roommate dihfhfbe
As Jimmy Diresta always says, "You go to school on the first one." You can't expect it to be perfect. If you do another one next year, with maybe a beholder in it, you are going to make it much better. Maybe the giant D20 with an iconic D&D monster/character in it should be an annual project. Just make sure to time it just after Halloween so you can steal all the knowledge E&K gain from their pumpkin pours and make yours that much better😄.
As epic and cool as the final result is, my favourite part was seeing the empty plastic dice mould. It was sooo cool! Making me really want something like that as a fruit bowl, or a candy jar! Always love seeing these bigger projects come to life, fantastic work!
Before I watch more I reallly reallly hope he watched some of Evan and Katelyn to see how they did their pumpkin mold this year. The dragon looks sooo good i'm nervous how this will turn out!
Such a challenge indeed! I really thought the pressure pot would have taken most of the bubbles out before the pour. Plus, I’ve seen many put their project into the pressure pot after the pour. But I think yours was a bit large. 😊 The overall look is awesome! And I must admit, your sculpting skills were spot on!
Soo cool! It came out amazing. I love that you show us that it’s okay for things to not go as planned. As artists we all go through the same. It’s the process and the fact that you learn so much through trial and error that counts.
Having a day made out of chaos and seeing that Jazza uploaded a video is so comforting because it means that someone had a more chaotic day than I did, and has uploaded it for my entertainment
Can i just say i got so hype for this video just because its Jazza and dnd-esque content AND THEN I SAW IT WAS 26 MINUTES and the happiness multiplied exponentially.
That dragon is definitely the best clay sculpture you’ve made so far. I love seeing the progress artists make from starting a new medium, to where you are now. So cool. Keep up the awesome work Jazza, and I’ll keep watching. 👍
That's why when you do big projects like this you only do a little bit at a time Maybe like an inch high At a time So that way you don't deal with the heating And you can always put it inside a vacuum chamber to suck out any air bubbles That might form And then after the resin cures You can take a little bit of sand paper Rough it up a little bit So that way The next layer will bond properly And because the resin will Fill up those scratches You don't have to worry about seeing them
still feel that you should have used a pressure pot to reduce the bubbles... I'm happy beyond belief that you contacted Evan and Kaitlyn for advice. though, they use total boat resin, which is amazing stuff.
The dragon was cool, but the resin... not so much. I think perhaps @Jazza you should have left the D20 empty and just put a bit of a glowing lava base around the bottom of the dragon then sealed up the D20 and put the decals of the numbers on after that.
Incredible Jazza! I just want to say one thing. I make dice myself and I actually cure each side with UV resin instead of polishing like you did and what I have realised is that when you sand it and it has a hole, the dust from the sanding fills the hole and creates a white dot. I see your finished result is speckled with those white dots. Just as a tip: next time try to scrape the packed dust out of those holes or wash the whole thing before you put the UV resin finish over 😄 I learned this the hard way myself 😅
Your projects are always amazing, thank you for sharing! I've seen video's where people built lager vacuum chambers for use for projects. Essentially just sealed boxes with the thick acrylic tops. Something like that might help if you do larger scaled projects like this in the future. You could potentially do a support casting with plaster of paris in that case that matches the chamber so you don't have to worry as much about the frame acrylic warping. You only need it open at the top after all. Depending on the resins working time you might be able to apply pressure between pours to maximize bubble removal.
That was absolutely beautiful, Jazza. Ib love these kinds of videos where we got to see every aspect of what you were doing. I was a little nervous, you did a good job of keeping up the suspense. Beautiful result. It reminds me of how satisfying ot is when you do a project and it just ends up as something gorgeous.
For anyone watching and curious. If you are using UV resin, you can essentially let it sit as long as needed to let the bubbles rise and pop or use a vacuum chamber to get the bubbles out. Since it doesn't cure until UV light hits it.
I've never been a huge fan of DnD, but I can feel every ounce of love you have for it. I think this tops the 3D resin dystopia diarama and the Zelda Majora's Mask layered acrylic 3D painting. Those have been some of my favorite projects you and the team have turned out until now. This was awesome.
I feel like the end product looks like a fire dragon successfully blowing fire in water, and all the bubbles are the water heating up around the dragon. I love this project and can't wait to see more.
This looks soooo awesome!!!!! It came out great Jazza, I also love the message you said about diving into the unknown, if you walk the road of uncomfortable that where you will grow
Hey jazza, there are lots of times where it seems like you doubt your ability or your skill, but I want to remind you, and this is pure fact, that you will go down in this worlds history as one of the greatest artist to, pick up a pencil, brush, clay, resin you name it brother, I truly believe you are up there with the greatest artists ever, not only with the beautiful art you make, but your message and the many wise and encouraging words you have to say, your a beast in the art game, may god bless you and your loved ones brother, you made it
This looks absolutely incredible! I also loved the bigger scope of the project and the way it was allowed to shine in a little bit longer of a video with nice dedicated chapters!
it's cool seeing people is the art community helping each other out. Also i hope one day this channel will do a tour of the studio, i would really like to see the space and overall layout of the space you use to make these amazing works of art. I also love D&D so this was awesome! for me to see.
I've been a lurker for a while, but you won me over with this one as a subscriber, for sure! While I haven't played D&D in ages, I started with the version 1 Basic set (which I *ahem* borrowed from my brother) to teach myself. Then quickly moved into AD&D with friends and spent many a long night playing out epic campaigns. I've never lost that love of dragons and magick and this video just hit me in the feels.
in regards to the resin being cloudy i have used this resin in the past and the part A will become cloudy and even become solid if left in a cold enough environment for long enough. and yeah heating back up will make it liquid and clear again
jazza when it comes to resin and deep pours you need to use the correct kind and still do layers, but the tip here is let it cure nearly all the way where it is still tacky then pour your next layer this way the layers will bond and barely make a layer line.
This was amazing, absolutely loved it. Seeing Evan and Katelyn in this was so fun, I would love a full collab project, but I am very happy with this. The final result was so cool, even if it wasn't perfect
I’ve seen that a lot of the issues you’re having with resin can be solved by simply putting said resin while it’s curing in a vacuum chamber. At least in there, the bubbles can escape much quicker, and you’re left with a cleaner result.
I loved this video! From all the challenges to the outcome ❤ and I can't even put in words how much I freaked out with E&K's support 😍 it is always a blast seeing my favorite UA-camrs together
This is amazing, love this and I so want to try it but may forgo the resin and just put the dragon in acrylic. Love that you got Evan and Kaitylyn's insight would love to see a collab.
Love it. Want it. Was thinking it was going to go down the wireless charging road at one point and then see it roll at the end. But still really cool and a super outcome. Love your work
I literally just commented on one of Jazza's shorts that I hoped he got into casting dice and I saw this. I am so happy. I taught myself resin casting and dice making in a true Jazza style. ie, dropping headfirst into a new hobby with literally no idea what I was doing. I want Jazza to try making a resin dice set now, even just one of those painted dice sets like Rybonator did. Especially if he did a chonk dice, whether it was a 20mm or a 50mm. I also couldn't help but feel the pain when hearing sanding and dice in one sentence.
The perfect imperfections add to the narrative of the piece. The overall effect is stunning. The question to you now, with all that you learned is, would you do it again and perhaps do the other dragon colors or even Tiamat herself?
Instead of a vacuum chamber you need to use a pressure chamber, or both. If you watch some of the professional tutorials from resin manufacturers etc. on UA-cam they’ll teach that a Strong vacuum (using a professional high power pump) will remove most of the bubbles. But a pressure tank will compress the gas left in the resin into micro bubbles you can’t see. If you don’t have a strong enough vacuum pump, vacuum can be skipped and pressure used by itself (not ideal but better than vacuum alone especially vacuum from an insufficient pump). Also for this type of projects it would probably make more sense to do many small pours and just remove surface bubbles with heat. It might also make more sense to use a strong adhesive, even adhesive epoxy, or specific acrylic glue for your mold to avoid all the mold issues, then grind through the adhesive carefully(using a colored adhesive would make that easier). Loved the video! Cheers

Has to be the wildest and most complicated project jazza has undertaken!!! What a great effort and a stupendous outcome!
Even when things go pear shaped, your sculpts are really just tops! I think they're my favorite thing to watch you do!
it's cool seeing people is the art community helping each other out. Also i hope one day this channel will do a tour of the studio, i would really like to see the space and overall layout of the space you use to make these amazing works of art. I also love D&D so this was awesome! for me to see.
Ceran wrap over the skin details (prevents tearing of the clay)...Pre-bake the teeth
Your dragon is very beautifully done. Takes me back to my D&D days and all the pewter miniatures I used to paint for gaming...Awesome as always Jazza!
in regards to the resin being cloudy i have used this resin in the past and the part A will become cloudy and even become solid if left in a cold enough environment for long enough. and yeah heating back up will make it liquid and clear again
There are no words that are worthy enough to describe this. It. Is. Phenomenal. Thank you so much for that amazing journey!
jazza when it comes to resin and deep pours you need to use the correct kind and still do layers, but the tip here is let it cure nearly all the way where it is still tacky then pour your next layer this way the layers will bond and barely make a layer line.
At least in there, the bubbles can escape much quicker, and you’re left with a cleaner result.
this is a stunning video, ive seen so many resin pours but nothing as ambitious as this, Jazza is such an inspiration❤❤❤
I loved this video! From all the challenges to the outcome ❤ and I can't even put in words how much I freaked out with E&K's support 😍 it is always a blast seeing my favorite UA-camrs together
Oh my goodness 9:17 that'd just wow I'm... WOW even for on e head just AWESOME 😮
I'm always amazed at how much commitment and passion you put into your craft! The outcome it brilliant
Love your work
This is so cool! I loved all the probables solving along the way ! Hecka you’ve come so far !
Imagine your spouse gets you d&d dice for your eight wedding anniversary-
True love right there lol
Perfect timing! I was craving a new video so I can get my daily go-to-bed-video 🥰
This is the coolest sculpture I've seen I think this might be one of the best things you did and it might be my new favorite thing to see!!
The perfect imperfections add to the narrative of the piece. The overall effect is stunning. The question to you now, with all that you learned is, would you do it again and perhaps do the other dragon colors or even Tiamat herself?
I love how the light can refract the tetrahedron and u can almost see a hydra instead
Cheers
