Man, this is wicked helpful. I’ve been wearing my father’s 1979 Goorin Bros hat for a decade, worried that I’ve been slowly destroying it, but the floppy brim is no more! You’ve helped me save a family heirloom. Big thanks.
Southern Gents I really thank you this video. You really taught me a new thing that had perplexed me for weeks. I'm very grateful to the brother in the video. What makes this special to me is that I learned this from a black brother. Peace.
@@s_gents I have a short brim hat 1⅝" ..the brim is evenly turned up all around. The brim is stiff felt with a "bead" on the edge, I would like to lower the upward brim slightly, I tried your method once and saw nothing like I wanted. Should I dampen the cloth some or spray water on the brim and iron over the brim as you explained. One thing more I used my bed mattress as a surface would a harder surface be what to use ?
This is everything!! I'm getting into hats & I needed to fix my hat. I love the simple & clear introductions. Your video, music & even the apron exudes classic man vibes.😍😍
Thank you for your purchase and we hope you love your new Fedora! 🤗❤️. Also kindly let us know what kind of content you’d like to see in the future!? 🥂
You fucken save our lives. Everyone knows how frustrating to see your hat get out of shape. Thanks for this simple tutorial and now I don't have to worry that my hat may get out of shape or something. Love from all the way to Auckland, NZ.
OMG thank you for this! I just received some Fedora hats for my Boutique and the brims are a little wonky. I will totally do this to make them up to our standards to sell! 😊
You are so welcome! It's certainly a trick we use before shipping out many of our fedoras. Transit is often not so kind to fedora crown and brims. Be sure to check out our other video on this topic, fixing completely crush hats. Cheers! 🍻 ua-cam.com/video/xhwZR5W_2nk/v-deo.html
just got a felt fedora in the mail and the brim is a little tiny bit warped from shipping. Thank you for this video, my new hat is about to get sharpened like a blade
Thank you for the awesome feedback. Growing the channel and releasing more videos is a big goal of our for 2022. Let us know what videos you'd like to see next. Cheers!🍻
Hi Kal, Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, this hat straightening method is only for straight brim wool hats. For straw hats, please watch our "How to fix a crushed hat" video below. ua-cam.com/video/xhwZR5W_2nk/v-deo.html
Okay. I’m sort of in love with you now. 🥰 I’m a lady, an avid hat wearer too.. But ….ahem…. Thank you for this video. Now my felt wool…… umm…. what was I saying? ☺️☺️☺️
Question: How do I remove the belt around the crown and replace it with an interchangeable paisley color design piece of cloth, to match my suit accessories and still look sharp?
Hey Sean, Try some hat stiffner that won't flake or leave white residue, that you can find here on Amazon! www.amazon.com/Bickmore-Original-Professional-Kahl-Stiffener/dp/B01MU5H93X
Hi there, Yes it's fixable. But you would need a different procedure with a steamer for that. Please see our How to Fix a crushed Hat video here. 👉🏽 ua-cam.com/video/xhwZR5W_2nk/v-deo.htmlsi=H9Ggso3CZ52waVUD
There is positively nothing more slovenly than a wavy brim. It can have a simple up or down turn - yes ; but up and down and all wavy - absolutely not !
Hi there, Great question. Please watch our “How to fix a crushed hat” video to see how to put the snap back in. This video is for FLAT brim hats only. Cheer. 🍻
For a wool hat, burning hat is the goal. Hats are moulded at extremely high levels of heat. Also, because you'd be using a wash cloth, your hat would be protected. Good luck!
I'm thinking of getting two Geoffery fedoras in brown and in camel--can I assume those are the two colors in this video (I have a hard time judging website pics sometimes)?
Hi Mr. Shumway. Yes, the Camel Geoffrey Fedora is the one in this video. The other Fedora is our James Fedora. You may also view tagged customer pictures and review pictures on each product page on our website, to get a more accurate idea of what each hat looks like. 🍻
I'm guessing you could use the same thing you'd use for dress shirts. Starch. On amazon you can find starch spray for ironing. MAKE SURE you research first. I think it will work, but dont trust me :D
Yes it will. For a good while. Until the hat meets some objects(closet, car seat, etc) and will need to be straightened again. As a rule of thumb, we usually press our personal hats before each wear, to ensure it’s good to go! 👍🏾
@@s_gents I ask cause I saw this cowboy hat. Which I’m not a fan of cowboy hats but I love the color of it. That and I’d love to flatten it and shape it into something that I do like.

Where do you get your Fedoras, they look great
YESSSSSSSSS! Thank you
Most welcome! 🤗
Great video! Just subscribed family. I think I'm going to hit mine with a little starch to see if that will stiffen it.

I'll hope this works on my black witchy hat. It's got a bigger brim but same material.
Can I use this method to straighten a brim that came with more of an outback shape to it? (Fur felt hat)
hello, I need help, and advice. My cotton string lowrider hat was crushed. Is it still repairable? cotton string - material. THank you

Will this work on a fedora thats allready treated with hat stiffener?
Yes it will 🍻
Thank you it worked great for mine.

There is positively nothing more slovenly than a wavy brim. It can have a simple up or down turn - yes ; but up and down and all wavy - absolutely not !
Thank you! And DEFINITELY no wavy brims. 🙅🏾♀️
Great video thanks. How about putting the flange and snap back in?
Hi there,
Great question. Please watch our “How to fix a crushed hat” video to see how to put the snap back in. This video is for FLAT brim hats only. Cheer. 🍻
Does this also help with a bent fedora?
Only if it is a straight brim fedora. If it's a soft felt fedora, please see our 'How to Fix a crushed hat' video. 🍻
Perfect.
Thanks man!
We're glad you enjoyed it! =)
Should it be burning hot or just low?
For a wool hat, burning hat is the goal. Hats are moulded at extremely high levels of heat. Also, because you'd be using a wash cloth, your hat would be protected. Good luck!
Thanks for the help. Do you think if I don't have an iron at the moment, I can just slide a heavy book under a part of the hat?
Thank you - What a cool dude!!! X
so helpful, thank you!
Thanks, cool dude.

Thanks I needed to fix a wool cloake
Will this work on a straw hat?
No,, use a hair dryer very gently
my fedora has a metal ring that's inside the brim that is now bent. any way i can fix that?
This is great for straightening, but can you also use anything to make it more stiff (so it keeps the shape)?
I'm guessing you could use the same thing you'd use for dress shirts. Starch. On amazon you can find starch spray for ironing. MAKE SURE you research first. I think it will work, but dont trust me :D
Put some alcohol (not the dyed kind) in a spray bottle and give it a light spray and let it dry. You can also use some hairspray the same way
Would this work for brims in beanie hats?
Thank You!!!!!
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
So after you’ve flattened the brim, will it stay that way?
Yes it will. For a good while. Until the hat meets some objects(closet, car seat, etc) and will need to be straightened again. As a rule of thumb, we usually press our personal hats before each wear, to ensure it’s good to go! 👍🏾
@@s_gents I ask cause I saw this cowboy hat. Which I’m not a fan of cowboy hats but I love the color of it. That and I’d love to flatten it and shape it into something that I do like.

Does this work with straw hats as well?
excellent

Why is this not working for me, is it because it has a metal thing that is bent?
Does this work with 100% beaver?
Where can you buy these hats wolesale?
Thank you! My gaucho hat got misshapen I will do this :)
No need for starch or anything else?
