What a beautiful way to remember your Nan. I happen to do the same thing.😊 I have been watching your channel for quite sometime now and love your work. You truly inspire me to pick up,y paint brush again. I too had an art studio built for me that I loved creating in until 4 years ago….a traumatic experience had kept me from wanting to enjoy the gift God had given me. Then I came upon your videos and I watched and kept watching every one I could find. You have such a soothing voice and I was drawn back into my happy place and started to feel that spark I use to have. I went out to my art studio and drew some flowers, water colored them, and made it I to a card for a friend. ❤ I can’t thank you enough!
My mum arranged flower heads on a large serving platter like your Nan and it looked very japanese when she had finished. You brought back happy memories for me so thank you Louise.

Thank you for the step-by-step instructions! I love watching you paint the reflections..Thank you so much for all the tips. (Loved your outtakes, too! ha-ha!)
The women of my family also floated fallen blooms in bowls, not always glass. I think it is the waste not want not theory. I love your painting of this difficult subject! It is can be hard to capture glass unless you look for all its subtleties. Thank you.
You always make it seem so easy. Love how you break everything down in manageable pieces. Beautiful painting. I'm sure your nana would be thrilled with it.
Amazing. Lovely painting, Louise! My mother floats flowers in crystal bowls. Different sizes for different blossoms. Some bowls are footed and it would probably be challenging to try one of those! Thanks so much for sharing your talent and techniques!
This is so precious. I love the subject matter because I inherited a cutting of a camellia from a South Georgia, USA, plant 3 years ago. We think that it is an heirloom plant. My sister gave me a cutting of her plant that was rescued from excavation for a real estate development. Her plant is well established and has gorgeous blooms every year. My cutting is now about 2.5 years old and is thriving, but has yet to bloom. I cannot wait until it makes flowers that I can paint. If it follows the inheritance traits from my sister’s plant it will make double camellias. Until mine reproduces, I can rely on her flowers for reference photos. I just hope my paintings, whenever I am able to do them, are as beautiful as what you have been able to reproduce. Your work always amazes me. ❤
Beautiful as always. I love how you capture detail yet make it look like it’s not. 😂😂 I often float flower heads in water bowls to eke out the last of their beauty. Have yet to paint one. Soon Y. Warren calls her reflections “ doodles”. Adorable. I loved that you worked the shadow and greys first! I would have jumped on the flower first as that is much more fun, but the shadows and water first was game changer for me. I am going to try one of my many photos of flowers in water bowls now with more confidence.
Hi Louise, this painting is so beautiful and complicated! You made it look easy, although it is not! Your talent never cease to amaze me. Great art work!!!❤ thank you. Helene
Fabriano soft press paper is available from Jerry’s Arterama in US and I believe they ship world wide. It sounds like lovely paper to paint on. Thanks for this tutorial. Glass is a tricky object to paint.
Hi Louise, im ardent fan of yours. However do you think you are always painting similar subjects...i wish you could paint cityscape and landscapes please..my wishful thinking
Beautiful….all the colors in the glass and water. I need to start floating my camelias in water again. So simple and lovely.
