Wow Louise, what a great tutorial and interesting textures! The granulating medium and dry brushing makes the door and the wall look so rustic! Thank you for sharing all this useful information.❤ Helene
Stumbled across your video today as my daughter and I were looking for inspiration! Then I saw the door and did a double take... I've walked past that door a few times. It's at Knaresborough Castle, North Yorkshire.
Love this one on the different textures. I'm watching at work with ear buds on and at the end I burst out laughing at you and Dom. Everyone turned to look at me. 😂😂
Louise, this watercolor is so gorgeous! I love the colors in this and this is one of the reasons I love watercolor art so much! I love what you did with the brick, too. The ink you used with the spray bottle created beautiful textures and made the brick work look quite authentic. The blooms on the door and ground were so pretty and effective. It’s all just so masterfully done. Congratulations on your piece and on how well you taught us about texture! Thank you once again for such amazing art that touches my soul in such a deep and beautiful way! You and Dom are so cute ! It’s wonderful that he helps with your work! It’s obvious how much you love each other. Blessings. Have a great weekend!♥️🌹👏🏻
I love your videos! I've shared your channel with my AP Art students. I've just shared this one with a student who is exploring watercolor and architecture. I don't have the time to make videos anymore, so I am grateful to excellent teachers like you. Your videos help me to help my young high schoolers build their skills in watercolor. Thanks & many blessings!
I loved this so much, Louise. So many great tips and techniques. I loved spraying the ink. Will this be a Patreon tutorial at some point? Thank you, as always.
This was a fabulous tutorial showing not only how to add textures, but also, helpful to me to see how you use different paint consistencies on wet and dry paper. I will watch this a few dozen more times. Thank you! I love watching you transform a simple drawing into a masterpiece!
Louise, I found this video almost magical! Seeing the textures appear under your brush. Loved it. Learnt so much!! Thank you for sharing your talent and helping so many people better understand how to use the characteristics of watercolour to create paintings.
Loved this painting!!! Thank you Louise! I'm a beginner gramma, that's taken over 6 months off... it'll be like starting over, but I am starting with swatching in my new Color Diary ( from Jerry's Arterama or Amazon). With love and gratitude from a California Gramma ❤️
ok, the first time i reeeeaaalllllyyyyy watched it to the end......lmao!!! quite the character, which is refreshing!! dont be self conscious of your voice ever!! seriously, your stunning art is only shadowed by your lovely voice... i really appreciate the time you take to provide these videos to us.. thank you!! edit: The time you BOTH take i should of said! i did notice ol'boy giving his gal a hand..people dont always realize much work goes into doing these videos..
Will have to try dry brushing. I am new to watercolor and have learned so much from your videos, especially needed help mixing colors thank-you lovely lady
Hello Louise, I like this painting a lot! I'm very partial to ancient doors and stone work!!! - After looking at the painting, I thought, "Oh... I'm painting that❗" - HOWEVER.... I had no idea of the amount of work you put into that beautiful structure. (That is, until I watched it.) Most definitely beyond my capabilities. 😏 haha 😊 ~~~ INCREDIBLE PAINTING❗
You two are darling! This is one of my favorite tutorials from you Louise! Really well done, and great ideas. I am moving into more mixed-media as well, and straying a bit from being a purist in my watercolors. I've been adding inks, sometimes acrylic inks, to my watercolors with smashing results. I have to tell you, I don't mind tutorials with more mixed media additions to your watercolors! Thanks!
Soo beautiful! The amazing blending technics really make the door seem so realistic! I enjoy your thorough videos and learn so much! Blessings from South Dakota U.S.😊
Kedves Luise! Ámulok és bámulok! Egyszerűen hihetetlen gyönyörűségeket készítesz a legrészletesebb magyarázattal amivel valaha találkoztam! Nagyon hálás vagyok Neked, hogy megosztod azt a végtelen tudásod Velünk! Millió köszönet és elismerésem! Gyönyörű munka! 🙏🤩
What a great tutorial this is. Salt is so fun, and challenging! Am so grateful for you showing me SkillShare. Took two very good classes to help me launch my own UA-cam and how to use the editing software I purchased. THNX so much Louise! And thnx to SkillShare!
Thank you Louise - I have watched many of your videos over the past week, and have learned a lot!! I love architecture so this one was really interesting to watch. Your paintings are superb. And I love your out-takes at the end. Thanks again for being so generous in sharing your skills with us all, and to Dom for putting it all together x🥰
Excellent and inspiring video ... within 12 minutes of it starting I had ordered some granulation medium and signed up for Skillshare. Thank you for posting.
Omg. Seeing how you used the granulation medium was so interesting and inspiring. I gasped our loud, what a lovely effect! I definitely know what the next art supply I buy is 😳!
Greetings Louise! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the application of different types of texture starting with the first layer to completion. Lovely outcome. A great review or new skill training for the experienced as well as beginner painters who follow your channel. I have seen you regularity use different texture creating in your Patreon videos with beautiful outcomes. A compliment to you. Thank you for sharing your talent with us in this you tube channel and in Patreon. Your professional presentation is worth noting.
You two are such Fun! I’ve now painted for three years and aspire to build the skills you so beautifully share. Your outtakes at the end would qualify you to join my sisters and me as the 4th Poor girl -a member of our family. Relax and enjoy it all. MPH
Love your techniques. I tried painting an old door like this about a year ago and was completely not happy with it. I'm going to give it another try with your suggestions. Thank you!
Again, this is great timing, Louise. I took a photograph of an old brick wall with an old pumping tap attached to it in a little country town in France a few years ago. I love the photograph and because I am now painting (thanks, Louise🤗) I am going to try and turn it into a painting. This tutorial is 👍🏻.
Thank you, Louise! Your work is amazing and you are a great teacher. You gave so many helpful techniques to help us get the results we’ve tried to hard to achieve. Thank you! Thank you!!!
Louise, thank you very much for this video. I finished my first real watercolor painting using it. Even though I used a different reference photo and had to adapt things to it I followed the basic process guidelines you show and I really love how it turned out. I really like the way you present things and your sense of aesthetics. Your works are wonderful and inspiring for me. P.S. It would be nice if a photo could be uploaded here so that we could show you our results.
Thanks for this Louise. This is no doubt one of my fav tutorials. There is so much information. And you have explained the process so beautifully. Terrific!!!
Vous avez de bonnes réflexions sur le travail aquarelle qui sont excellente tout comme votre gentillesse et merci de nous faire partager votre amour de l’aquarelle vous m’encourager à m entraîner merci Louise
Great lesson in texture. I'm actually painting a beautiful door on a stucco building, although in acrylic...but I think I'll be able to incorporate some of these into it to highlight the door!
Beautiful painting Louise and some really useful techniques on painting. My local church door has a similar door to it (1759) I believe, so when it has finished raining as it has been for a few days now then I will be up there to sketch and try to paint something similar(I hope). Thank you for sharing all with us and loved your out take with Dom xxx
I’d love to see your apply your skills and technique to creating a medieval castle. It was a great door and I think you’d probably create a masterpiece. Just my opinion but I’d love to learn how you might go about doing it. 💚 Great channel.
Louise, this is such a beautiful piece. Thank you for explaining everything so clearly, it’s very helpful. I have one question, when you re-wet your work, how do you stop the colour that is already there from moving, especially where you’ve dry-brushed? Thanking you in advance.
