As per your other tutorial videos, the finished painting is stunning. I also appreciated the closing tips and tricks - this time in painting the fur - keeping it simple, following shapes. I have also started simplifying my palette and although more color mixing, you are correct in that the overall painting is more cohesive. Thank you.
This painting is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! I’m amazed by how realistic you can paint something that’s white on white. The tips are incredibly helpful! Thank you. 😊
This Westie painting is so good! Fur is always a challenge and working out a limited palette is also still a challenge for me so it is most helpful to see exactly what colors you chose and how you mixed them. Thank you so much for this! Also, the photographs of Leo are spectacular. He is such a handsome boy. I hope to see more of him in your bloopers :)
Your work is incredible. I enjoyed your use of the limited palette and negative painting for the fur bits. Plus painting in shapes and adding some detail later was genius. I painted my brother’s yellow Labrador for him and I had three tries at it before I was happy. I was lucky that Labs don’t have spiky hair like a Westie! Thank you for sharing your work with us! ❤
This is a fabulous painting of a Westie! I have family who have several and also Great Pyrenees....that I may try my hand at much later on. Still working at birds, my favorite. Thanks for sharing your excellent techniques with us, Louise!
I love what you do ! You inspire me a lot ! I heard you say you used to have difficulty simplifying, and I often heard you say you fussed too much. Well, I feel you. God is it hard to let go ! Your painting of this westie is the best exemple for me to try and simplify. I will give it a try, and hopefully I will understand how to let go of the details that are not necessary ! 😊 Oh, by the way, I love your bloopers to ! 😅
Stunning work! This is perhaps the most informative watercolor pet portrait tutorial I've watched. I love the pieces of advice - so incredibly helpful! Thank you for sharing, Ms. Louise. Also, your gentle voice is so soothing to listen to. ❤
Wow I love watching your videos, you take your time and explain every brush stroke you do,, I'm trying to watercolour, I have ocd and have to learn for watercolour to be loose which I find hard 😊😊
I have border collies and was wanting to do a painting of them, if possible a painting of a dog with black and white and maybe a third colour would be awesome
Thanks very much. I've written about my supplies here: www.louisedemasi.com/studio-equipment. My large ceramic palette that holds my paint is from Jacksons. I used a large white ceramic round plate for this painting - bought from Kmart.
No not at all. They are very handy. They are great for straight lines. For this painting I found a long liner to be more helpful than a ruling pen because I could create those more fluid lines along the edge of the dog.

I have border collies and was wanting to do a painting of them, if possible a painting of a dog with black and white and maybe a third colour would be awesome
I would love to see a black and white cardigan corgi!

Thank you very much for a great tutorial. Can you give me some information about the brushes you use?
Thank you. You'll find all the art supplies I use here www.louisedemasi.com/my-art-supplies
I hope to see your style in a cityscape
Very awesome (so far) still need to see the rest. Question though, where did you get your porcelain "palette"

Bloopers are icing on a cake. But cake was too yummy too😅
Is there a reason you wouldn't recommend a ruling pen for putting the masking fluid down?
No not at all. They are very handy. They are great for straight lines. For this painting I found a long liner to be more helpful than a ruling pen because I could create those more fluid lines along the edge of the dog.
So mic e to be able to use speed x2 for the initial view then later can go back and watch again at normal speed 😊
