Kevin and Sarah, congratulations on the launch of your chicken sale. I’m confident it will go well…but I have to add that you two look awesome. So slim and trim…now that deserves recognition. Congratulations and God bless.
Yes yes yes.... Hatching eggs is not confusing or complicated with a Brindsi and I am not getting any thing from the company either. Like you I started with a cheaper one. What a pain in the #%*. Get a Brindsi and follow the instructions. My worst hatch with the brindsi was 80%. Often got 100% hatch. They can easily stay at room temp for 7 days. You guys do such great teaching videos. Kevin, I just needed a reminder and I watched one of your videos on making easy bread. Again a great video. Quail sure are cute and I wish you all the best with this lot.... I think the Chicks are not done hatching.. This is so exciting. 80 % is a good rate. American Bresse are wonderful.. Thanks for sharing.
This was very timely. Our beloved rooster died this week defending his flock, and we are having to incubate his first and last clutch, as the hens are not broody. Wish us luck!
I switched to brinsea incubators a few years ago when the cheap Chinese made incubator I was using glitched and cooked my chicks on hatch day. I have the ovation 56 ex and love it, I usually get 100% hatch rates. I use it as an incubator only and on day 18 I move the eggs to a hatcher. This not only keeps the incubator clean but allows me to set eggs every week in one incubator. This also means that I only need one brooder and the older chicks teach the younger ones to eat. Because new chicks are added every week there is no aggravation issues.
thanks for the simple facts! Fresh food and water (non frozen) Daily!! Keep pine shavings in nest boxes for 'clean free' eggs. Have a caged run, open windows, vent in coop for ammonia in heat season :) put this on watch later.😉
So excited for you! It’s been so encouraging to see your journey over the years. You have given me the courage to take steps that were once only dreams! May God continue to bless you and your homestead. ❤
Is so much to Joy have a little chicks, it's remind me when I was very young and I see the little baby chicken, I wish you guys all the best with baby chicks and quails take care and God bless you.
I much prefer the R-Com as the best incubator. Same price range but better technology and ease of use. Has a small heating unit in the water reservoir. Recovers heat and humidity levels after opening within 1 minute. A group of my chicken friends did many different hatches and tried several methods of cleaning and found that using a cap full of bleach in a sink full of warm water to clean dirty eggs, rinsing with clean warm water, and drying them completely right before going into the incubator actually increased the hatch rates to 92% and produced healthy chicks. Especially useful during spring mud season when we usually do hatches and have to deal with dirty eggs.
I ordered Cornish Cross, the American Bresse were sold out already. Getting 20 meat birds. And we ordered 15 new laying hens - McMurrys best sellers mix or something of the sort. My son has 26 eggs in his incubator right now. And his foxes are bred. 😊 Those quail chicks were adorable 🌺 Thank you for another great video.
I don't have or do any of the things you two do..... but farming and farm animals is where my heart is. My parents had a small farm and then when I was 4 we moved to a small town. But spent weekends at My Gramps farm to help out. So i call myself a farm girl (more like a Grama) at heart. Thanks to you and some other You Tube homesteaders for giving a Sr. Lady some wholesome entertainment.🥰🥰🥰
I think temperature is what affects weither you get roosters or hens. I have always had more roosters in my spring hatching and hens in the summer hatch. I only use broody hens no incubator
You must have a good flock. We used to. We had one hen that would collect 30 eggs and go broody. She hatched, trained, and protected those chicks and part of the flock they became. It was incredible. Now, new flock, 20 years later, one hen goes broody and she jumps off the eggs when they begin hatching. Pure stupid apparently.😭
Your introduction of your first batch of American Bresse inspired me to get Canadian Bresse this spring. We have 12 chicks that are now 2.5 weeks old. Exciting times.
So cute,bI signed up for the news letter. I will be buying some chicks , I don't know when yet.... but will see. You guys look amazing, the keto diet worked great for you guys! Congratulations 👏! God bless you 🙏🤗
This was a great video! We are going to be hatching our own eggs for meat chickens next year. We have new egg layer chicks coming in July. Not trying to hatch for selling, just for us for consumption. We are 71 years old and are just trying to be as self-sufficient as possible. Thank you for such a detailed video explaining how to incubate, etc. This was just what we needed. We also checked out the new website and love it! Good job! We love you guys! God bless! ❤❤
We hatched our first chicks this year..and they did great. I have one more batch in for hatching. My older birds may become stew meat. How exciting to watch. ❤👍 Thank you for your inspiration.
Congratulations on a great chick hatch! They look great! I agree on keeping things simple. I've been raising chickens for 20+ years and finally decided I needed to stick with one breed of chicken, too. My choice is the Black Australorps, they are a dual purpose bird that lays a lot of eggs. Check them out, they are awesome!
yes, love the black australorps too. Especially those pretty brown eyes. Here's a little story: I had my chickens out free ranging with my Shepherd and I keeping watch. I was sitting on the grass, my dog was lying down next to me. One of the roosters decided he was in love with the black australorp. He came running at her with 'intentions' and she ran behind my dog and sat very close to him. Rooster changed his mind! LOL.
@@saddleridge4364 😂I know that rooster charge! Boy, that is a smart hen, mine do the same to stand behind me. Sometimes surprise me by jumping up onto my shoulder! Chicken lady for sure, lol
Thank you Kevin & Sarah, this was such a special video.I so appreciate what you do for all of us! You are such wonderful homesteaders! Bless you & your family!🌷💕🌷
Oh my goodness! They are all so precious! Wow!!! A bumper crop of chicks all around! You two make it look so easy. Thank you for sharing your tips and techniques. I always learn something.
Oh my goodness! There are so many baby chicks! Immediately, the baby shark song (baby chick version) popped into my head. Geez, thanks for that... lol.
Perfect timing I'm on day 19 of my first try hatching chicks. Great info and confidence for me guys I always enjoy your videos so much Thank you so much. Be safe and God Bless you both.
This is cuteness overload. I have never seen so many baby chicks and for sure baby quail. It is hard to believe those quail came out of those tiny eggs. Thanks so much for sharing, especially to city gals like me. Y'all have a Blessed day.
Such a great video guys! I would add that our mentor told us to turn eggs 3x a day. Better hatches with that advice. You can get even better hatches if you keep your eggs cool. We used a wine cooler and turned them 3x daily. Temp in the fridge at 55-60 degrees. Warm the eggs up to room temp for 24 hours before putting into the incubator. Washing eggs: check out Tek Trol from Hog Slat. It is for professional hatcheries to wash eggs and equipment. It works amazingly well. Also, you can add peroxide to your reservoir for the incubator/hatcher. Can't overdose it. I use 50/50 water peroxide in the hatcher. It lets lots of oxygen off and kills germs, and a side benefit it smells much better!
My only connection to these cuties is through LTH, long distance, online, yet I feel like a proud Aunt! So happy for you and I LOVE your new website. Your hard work shows in everything you do. Thank you.
I agree on the pointy eggs. We hatched our first batch and there was 1 bullet egg in there and we were expecting a rooster from it. But it turned out to be the only hen that hatched in that batch. Lol
Just booked mark on my Brave Browser your AWESOME WEBSITE. Congratulations! It’s so beautiful and informative. Count our homestead as a future customer. Love everything you both support and do. Blessings, Wayne
Today news is Saturday April 15th their weather calls for severe weather for Missiour with severe hail storm and possible tornators. Prayers for the area for no touchdowns. May God bless our friends. Let you know communication towers mght be damaged.
TY so much for this video! We just purchased 12 American Bresse chicks yesterday and plan to raise them for meat and to sell as well. We will be new to the incubation process also so this video was most helpful. Stay blessed..
Incubating 40 eggs. 8 babies as of this morning. Love this time of year.❤🐣🐥🐓 That incubator is almost like mine. Probably an upgrade to the one we have.
Perfect timing! I am trying to decide upon a new incubator. I've always used the styrofoam and usually seem to have too many projects going at one time; so the incubator that you are using sounds like it would help. Especially with humidity levels! Once again, thanks for sharing!
Another fun and interesting video, Thank You. We are planning on purchasing some American Bresse chicks soon. Our intention, much like yours, is having the dual purpose chicken and not having to be dependent on the Jumbo Cornish Cross like we now are and they have been excellent meat birds for us!
The jumbo meat maker, is just what they call their line of jumbo pharaoh. Jumbo pharaoh, jumbo wild, jumbo brown, meat maker are all the same. Just depends on the breeder and what they call them.
WOW what a hatch you had on the quail and Breese Chicks. Have a great time selling and raising lots from both hatches. Thanks for sharing all the great information. Stay safe and keep up the great fun too. Fred.
This video reminds me of when I was 10 years old, 69 years ago, and I hatched my first baby chicks.

This si just the coolest thing! It is amazing how God made eggs turn into such a complicated creature! ❤

I am so sorry for your loss. I hope everything goes well with his last chicks.
My chicks 🐥 are hatching 🐣 right now! My kids are so excited about having our own chickens 🐔! Thank you for sharing have a blessed week!
That is awesome!
Oh my those baby quail are so so cute, those chicks are darling. I love all the peeping.
Aren't babies of any type just so cute! Especially those weany, little, chirpy quail! ❤
Let's hope these quail are more Christian-like 😊 🧡

You had real Peeps for Easter!
This is a master class for hatching chickens. You should convert one of your sheds into a hatchery. Chickens are in great demand.

With all the directions makes me wonder how the chickens are naturally successful!

Thanks for all you do. You’re my favorite on you tube and do a fantastic job. You are much appreciated.
Terry from Tennessee.
So exciting to see both quail and chicken hatch. May God's blessings continue
Growing up we did it the old fashioned way and let so many hens set on them and always had enough chicks to replace the old ones.
The quail are sooo adorable as well as the American Bresse. How exciting for you guys.
Good morning have fun hatching your eggs
Thats wonderful that you have sold the chicks

You kiddos need to get into making and selling feather pillows and feather mattress covers. You are going to have feathers galore!
I have feather pillows my grandmothers made. I was wondering how we clean the feathers for them? I'd like to make some!!

Hello Dorothy how are you doing today?
I have a hen that likes to set. So my daughter has ducks. I put 8 eggs under her. She hatched 2. They are so cute. And they're doing great.
