***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out new videos every week! We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

@@missydawn251 Oh that's even better! You know I just thought of it and threw it up but later when I had a bit more time I read some of the comments and saw further back there was a comment with a similar name with Beak and Bill in it. I got called away though and when I got back I couldn't find the comment again. I've search 3x now wanting to say something to them although I'm not even sure what. I trust it would come to me when I need it, apologize for inadvertently copying their idea because they obviously had it first?

THE OASIS (you already named it in your video title. You want to sit, relax and watch the ducks swim while sipping your coffee. You’d be going to THE OASIS. Maybe eventually have an in ground pond with a tree next to it.)

We build a special area for our ducks. It has its own In ground pool that is half of a big
plastic crate. It has an underground drain that leads to a ditch running downhill away from this area. Rainwater is connected off the roof into another crate that holds about 300 gal. It has a hose that gravity flows the water into the pond. It’s wonderful and the ducks love it!

We are new to ducks this year, and already I whole-heartedly agree that ducks are SO MUCH FUN to watch! It was an impulse buy for me when I was picking up some Cornish cross to raise for the freezer. Somehow a Blue Slate turkey made it home with that bunch so now we have a turkey that thinks she's an odd-shaped duck! Your pool idea is so intriguing- our ducks also are MESSY and love making little dibble dabble mud holes. It will be nice to get some ideas for our small flock while I watch you put your duck area together! Thanks for all the great inspiration 🙂

    I watch & follow other farm/homesteading vids.
I think ur hoop coops r the most practical coops! I've seen tractors that r heavier. Urs, while not tractors r movable.
We used to call what u call Hog Panels as Combo Panels. I made movable pens by taking U-screws at the corners & 4 panels. I would unscrew 1corner to enter.
U could always trim a wing if the poultry decided to fly.
U guys love Pekins, while not my fav, they r good all purpose birds. I love Rouens & Indian Runners. For eggs Khaki Campbell's (had to trim a wing) & my Swedish never flew.
As a kid we had mixed Rouen/Pekins & they loved the kiddie pool (but loved my baby sisters better, lol).
    I'm truly envious.
I like geese, mine were so loving to me, but were fierce protectors & kept away critters. My old gals r long gone...😢

Since that area has no real shade, you might plan on an arbor to sit under and watch the ducks, plus provide shade and a spot to hide from overhead predators. Planting your grapevines there would also work for shade for them. Plus, they would clean up any dropped fruit. Looks like you may have some use for all those rocks you picked up out of the garden, too. Maybe a little pea gravel to make it not as rough on the feet. Kevin is going to have fun designing the splash pad.

I like the playground. One of my favorite names I saw was "Downy Town" but I couldn't find that comment again to give the person credit for the fun name. Great video, LOVE the deck!!! Thanks so much for sharing your Homestead and lives with us.

Cut from the same mesh and fasten it along the perimeter of the shack about 8 to ten inches wide. Fasten it in such a way that it can be lifted and clipped when you want to move it. A bit of extra effort, but works well against digging predators. Simply deploy them onto the ground when you set up the shack in a different location.

When you first mentioned having a special area for the ducks I was hoping it would be something that you would do soon. I loved watching your ducks at your last homestead and this sounds like heaven on earth for them. I was going to suggest a sitting area for you, glad to hear that you will be doing it. Thank you for sharing a small part of your journey...absolutely enjoying it. It's better than tv! A name suggestion: Featherland

ducks are a fun animal to have I had 2 when I was a kid and they followed me all over the place. I always took them to a stream to play in twice a day. Memories! Good idea on the coop

If it’s on a hill, Avian Hill. If it’s more of a meadow, Avian Meadows.

      And maybe some duck feet
      Lol
It doesn't account for new critters, but it could be to honor the inspiration.

I love the hoop coop design. I made one similar that I call the hillbilly hoop coop. I used scrap wood and crossties for the base for added critter control. It attaches to my barn so the hoop is just their run.

Since ducks really love mulberries and you need some shade there, how about planting some mulberry trees and calling it Mulberry Meadow or Mulberry park. That leaves the option open to add whatever other birds or critters you want to add later.

I don't really follow 'farm' channels much so I come for the plants/food prep... But it's really Refreshing to see someone 'care' and not just view the animals as food etc.

The Quack Shack, Puddles Park, The Paddlin’ Pond, Paddlin’ Puddles, The Quackery, Swim & Quack Place, Puddles Plaza, Paddlin’ Place……. All kinds of fun little names possible.
I used 50” hog tight fence panels on my chicken run thinking that the smaller graduated spaces on the bottom were close enough to keep my chickens in….and they are for my full grown chickens (i have chanteclers, a duel purpose heavy breed). But for the pullets we hatched ~3/10 that arent quit full grown yet and still somewhat able to fly/glide/jump, they just hop up and squeeze through the upper sections that have larger holes. So i am gonna need to add 3’ of chicken wire around the bottom of my hog tight.

Hi Kevin, Hi Sarah this name just seemed all encompassing for whatever birds you decide to put in there...Name it the "Fowl Corral" ! Hope you and the family had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. It has been unusually cool in Phoenix for May you would be amazed, I woke up this morning on 5/31 the last day of May to 64 degrees wow could not believe it. Not to worry as you know when the heat comes it slams you when your not looking haha! I have been watching you guys every video for years...I think when I joined you only had maybe 45,000 subscribers. I am living the homesteader life vicariously through you. Thank you, and may you recieve many blessings!

I would of thought you would make a small pond for your ducks. But the pool idea sounds great to. I love ducks so much too. There so entertaining.
