Nice, did you do a pre-treatment to the seeds, like soaking in water of nicking with a file? 8 days ago I nicked the seeds and let them soak in water for +- 8 hours. Then placed them on a wet tissue. Day 6 the first seeds germinated and day 7 I planted them in individual containers. Now day 8 they're emerging from the soil. I used seeds I collected from a beautiful Pink Bird of Paradise
Hi Robin, thanks for sharing your useful procedure. In this video, I didn't do pre-treatment. I just directly placed the seeds on the tissue paper and pour a little water. :)
@@sammyat56 Itried it once before without nicking and soaking the seeds and it didnt work. Thats why this time i chose this method. The seedlings doing just fine ;)
Thank you Robin. I didn't know that they came in pink- I'm going to search the web for pink seeds. I just received the yellow seeds this morning and going to follow your method and see what happens.
I have loads of new caesalpinias and they are having tens of pods.. do I leave the plants them on to dry and harvest the seeds when they are brown or what?
Thank you for showing the process but I need help knowing when to take the pod off the mother plant. I have abiut 20 pods on my rescue Mexican Bird Of Paradise and do not know how and when to pick them and how to know when they are ready. Can you advise? Thank you!
Thank you for the video. How the plants doing? I noticed you buried more than the actual root, and after you watered them they were not straight is this ok?
The pods typically burst and shoot the seeds out when they are ripe, if you check daily look for brown thick pods, if you shake them you will hear a rattle, these ones are ready but haven't popped yet. You can also just look underneath and around the plant and you will find the seeds all over.
@@TheHalusis I have two big ones full of seed pods right now, I've been collecting pods and seeds all last week and today. 2 seeds have already put out a tap root.
@@aetherwalker5434 i read the seed pods dry over winter and I suppose the drop sometime between then and before summer. reason why i was asking is because i know where some are at a distance from me, and needed to get intel so i can make that trip over when they are ready. Me and my girl friend well she educated me on plant sorts, and i wanted to plant some near her favorite tree. I thank you brother for the help
@TheHalusis No problem, and just something I noticed, but there are 2 colors for the seeds on my plants dark red and a tanish brown. The red ones are the only ones I've got to germinate, also look under and around the plant, if you find some with the outer shells sheading off (looks like ribs being peeled back off the seed) grab those ones all the ones I found like that put out a tap root after only a few days soaked in a paper towel on the window sill.
Once my seedlings get this tall and grow even a third set of leaves, for some reason they just die. The leaves shrivel up and fall off. What am I supposed to be doing?
Maybe you need to add fertilizer? Seeds provide enough to get a seedling started, but they need nutrients from their environment to become established.
most helpful to see the seeds to seedlings. Thank you.
Thanks Jasper for appreciating the video :)

Robin, any particular reason you nicked and pre-soaked the seeds? How the seedlings doing? I just ordered some seeds and want to plant them.

Wrap the pod with a little bag. When it explodes you'll capture the seeds!

Hi Raymos, yes they will straighten after the roots attached to the soil They are growing well now, i hope I can upload an update video :)
thank you Adela, looking forward to your other videos
Wow beautiful plant 👍👍😍
Thanks for appreciating it :)
Hi, where did you place the seeds? I’ve known that some seeds need dark and some need to be in a well lit area.
when do you know the seeds are ready to pull off of bush?

Did you get these seeds directly from the tree?
Hi, yes you are right, I got it directly from the tree :)
Adela B is love to see a video of how to take the seeds... do they need to dry first?
@@OfftoShambala The pods develop, then dry out, and then the two halves curl apart to shatter. That's when you want to collect the seeds!

Obrigado Rodolfo :)
Berapa lama ya bisa keluar bunga cantiknya?
Hi Nafisa, based on my research, it will take up to 7 years for the flowers to bloom :)
Realy? I think it is to fast
Thanks for the correction, it may take up to 7 years or longer
Wow, seven years?! These are all over my neighborhood, it's wild that they're all that old!
I don't know what they are, but I do know that those are not bird of paradise seedlings.
They are yellow bird of paradise. Mine look exactly like that now.
Yep definitely Mexican Bird of Paradise seeds.
What name is tree...?
Hi, the name of the tree is Red Bird of Paradise :)
