Brilliant.Just dented an expensive new stained hardwood floor in my rented apartment.Didn't have an iron but used a clothes steamer with a cloth over the dent.Worked a treat.
You just did me the biggest favor!!! I've been refinishing a coffee table and had stripped it and sanded it and could not get rid of a deep scrape in it. I watched your video, went out and ironed it out of there in a minute!! Thank you!!!
Thank you!! Just restored my Grandma's 90 year old bedroom suite and managed to put a dent in it during transportation from shed to house. My Mum suggested an iron but we didn't think of the wet cloth part, worked a treat!!
Oh my gosh I'm so glad I found this. We just had new dark oak hardwood floors installed. Our refrigerator has wheels so it didn't scratch it, but the weight but terrible dents in the floor. We were sick! I used a steam mop on it!! Some spots I used a iron and cotton towel. Looks much much better. Thank you!!! Such a biggggg relief!
With furniture that has a clear finish on it, you will need to take a needle and poke several small holes so the steam can penetrate the clear finish. It does work.
Used this method loads of times on all types of wood with excellent results. Remember to use clean rag or if you're stuck paper, any stain leeching onto the timber will exasapate the problem. Steel tools, oak and water make a right mess. Above all be patient, it can take a while. Remember you can swell the dent but not lost wood. I use this method to straighten cupped boards. Leave water on one face of board to swell that side. This may take 24 hrs. Doesn't always stay put but gives you a chance when a flat surface is needed for machining.
I just tried this for something I dented. What is this voodoo. It worked so well !! I also like that you were realistic with your examples or what might and might not work. 👍
Thank you so much for sharing this! I had just bought my daughter a new wood veneered desk and she loved and respected it so well, she took care of it. Dimwit mum here was showing her how to Spirograph and left deep indents all over the pace. I used this method and it’s like they were never there! If you know where to look you can just see the outline but other than that, gone! So thank you thank you thank you xxx
Thank you so much for sharing this! My housemates and I rented a newly renovated house, and somehow the bamboo flooring got dented because of the sofa. The landowner asked us to replace it which would cost a few hundred dollars. As students, we freaked out. But this saved us. So, THANK YOU!
This worked for me!! I made a huge dent and it raised it back up, I still have a scratch that I can easily color in but it's much better than a big dent!!
Quick question, if the dent is on a piece of wood which is varnished is this method recommended or will it mess up the finish on the varnish? Thanks :)
Thank you so much! I forgot that I'm working with soft wood and accidentally clamped it down a little to hard without cushion. It's ridiculous how well this works! Like nothing ever happened!
Will this work on a thick safety house door which is punched and the dent's end is a little seperated? Like you can see a black end at the border of the punched area and the not punched area
Just tried it on my white painted wood barstool that made contact with my granite countertop and put and ugly dent on the corner. IT WORKED! I’m 110% impressed!
You saved me ! I had a dent in my floor that bugged me for years worked great the dent is gone but yeah its just discolored because it broke the finish but the actual dent is gone ty
If it's painted or coated with lots of clear, it may not work quite a well, but I don't think it would hurt to try and see. Just be careful not to burn it with the iron.
It seems to work best on unfinished wood, but I have seen it work on some finishes. Maybe test out a small area that's not noticable to see if it does anything to the finish first.

I wish I had known this immediately after it happened, but it's been about two weeks and still removed them.

This works like magic. Im renting and managed to leave LOADS of dents on the hardwood floor. Did exactly as per video and the dents have disappeared.

Thanks for sharing. Do you think this trick could help on a solid pine table top (2cm thick) slightly warped? Would you iron over the concave side?
Great tip! Reduced the size of my dent by 70% and the dent was made months ago!
This worked even better than the video… dented an almost finished guitar with a clamp… super deep too.. took it right out in seconds (pine).

Is it possible to use on a distressed wax tv unit?

It should, although I think it would probably work a bit quicker on softer woods.
I've got a fender guitar with dents. Will this method mess up the lacquer finish on it?
I haven't tried it on a lacquer finish, so I'm not sure if it would work or not for you.

I have a loudspeaker with a dent in it. It has a thick, rough coat of paint on it, though. Any trick to fixing it?
You could try this and see if it'll help. But if not, I'm not sure what to do other than sand, fill, and repaint.
Awesome! Thanks!
THANK YOU WILL TRY, APPRECIATE THE ADVICE.
Thank you! Just fixed a picture frame I am making. It literally worked in 30 seconds. It was pine.
