HOW TO FISH A NEW LAKE YOU'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. Tournament footage (Part 1)

- I got asked to fish a Tournament on LBJ in Texas by my good friend Phil Marks (Strike King's New Products Developer). He had been here once 4 years ago, and I had literally never seen the lake. We put in on the north end and went fishing (it was a trailering event because the virus was getting bad). We end up catching them pretty good and you can see how we start putting things together and really see what was going on in our heads as we start to make decisions on how to catch them.
Gear:
For both sight fishing and frogging
Rod: Falcon 7'3 Cara Swimbait Rod
Reel: Lews 300 Super Duty
Line: Sunline Shooter 25# Fluoro for sight fishing
Sunline Plasma 60# Braid for Frogging
Baits: Strike King Rage Bug for sight fishing
Strike King Popping Perch (BONE) for frogging
Strike King Magnum Rage Bug for flipping around
I learn something new every time I watch your videos. You share your knowledge without all the antics and sales pitches, too, and that’s refreshing!
Love this channel rip to Phil marks the crankbaits he designed have caught me a ton of fish 🐟 great tournament content boys
Does Phil have a boat? I have only seen him in other peoples boats I have even seen him win a boat but never in his own boat
Lol love the show
Yes he did, he passed away a few months ago.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 oh wow I had no idea what a loss Just terrible
Dude, that first hookset on the frog. Awesome. Best sound in the world.
I can do it all day everyday. Never get tired of it and what's great its about to heat up big time. Have you see the 10 pound fish hit in my other video? It crazy!
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 Yeah man. Love frog fishing. That 10 was nuts. I haven't touched a 10 yet. They don't grow that big where I am from.
Thats the problem they don't grow that big in a lot of places.
Great video. Love “listening in” and hearing the thought process like that. Thank you.
Good, I was hoping guys could pick up all the little things.
Really a super job, this channel really does it well, as I said before, You are truly a stick anywhere you venture.. Keep fishing your style thats the good stuff
Thanks man
You definitely set the book on them! Nice bag of fish
Thanks
Great job hustling your weight up throughout the day. Nice video. I gotta give props to your partner, he's a fantastic net man. Always right there and ready. Quick and accurate scoop.
He's been doing it for years he got it down. Apparently he's got boat flipping 7#s down too.
Great vid, on the fly stuff is always great 👍👍👍👍👍
Its fun when it works out, sometimes it doesn't. LOL
Looked pretty crazy driving through darkness. Cool video!!!

Your hook set on that frog is wicked bro!!!!
Thanks man, gotta try and hit'em with everything you got.
Todd Castledine Fishing yep gonna do that very thing at Grand tomorrow morning...I hope 👍
And that's how you do a team tournament folks. Guy in back does something different. Hell of a job
Always unless something is really dialed in.
My son lives close to that lake we’ll have to check it out sometime !! Great job !!
I liked it a lot being my first time, pleasure boats could get bad I'm sure in the summer
So, how is this teaching me how to fish a lake I've never seen before ?
Nice and gratz on a great finish!
Thanks
Beast Mode!
Thanks OKIE
Ole Phil comes dressed for war haha.......good job gentlemen
Oh yea he was ready
Awesome vid Todd. Thanks for taking us along. Great sack too for 2nd! You could not have been off by too much. LOL
No we got beat by a pound or so, they had an 11#, CRAZY.
Daaaaang! Yep, hard to compete with that. LOL must’ve got lucky and found her on the bed too. Either way, you guys had a great bag for an unfamiliar lake!
No, I think they caught it on a spinnerbait.
I know this is an older video but I just started following you a few weeks ago, catching up on all of yours... You beat me out of first on the outlaws outdoors 4 of July in 2019. I never got to congratulate you that day...and to say watching you sight fish is a + for me I wish I had eyes like you do Todd... if I may ask what brand of glasses do you suggest ? I'm only 1 eyed (no really I'm blinded in my right) so any help would be appreciated...keep up the great videos...
Thank you, I always wear Costa with the silver sunrise lenses
Hell of a day, especially when you haven't been there before. Are you back doing the TxTT? I just started watching them again. You always did so damn good in them.
Yes I was until this crazy virus took over. Hopefully we will be able to in the early summer.
Great content man, appreciate the share !!!
Thanks
17:08 Lmao GOT EMM !
Got any tips for where to fish LBJ right now?
No clue that was the only time ive ever been there
Awesome
Thanks
Oh yeh, loved that.
Thanks
great catching as usual but what kind of shoes are you wearing? I need some of those. It's the shoes.
HUK
You catching tanks are you sure you never fished here haha. Was a great video seems to me they should be spawning right now. Down there.
Yea they we're spawning down there pretty good in the event
what rod and reel setup where you using when you where flipping those beds
Falcon 7'3 Swimbait rod, its really close to the Falcon Expert 7'4 Amistad XH rod. Lews 300 Super duty with Sunline shooter 25 flouro with a Strike King Rage Bug
What rod action and length do you use for your poopin perch
Falcon 7'3 Cara swimbait rod. Its like a heavy to extra heavy. All rod companies are different with action but this one rod I've been throwing for 5 to 6 years now.
Great showtimes lol
Thanks
What FROG ROD you usin?
It's the old Flacon Cara 7'3 swimbait rod, the new Flacon Expert 7'4 Amistad XH is really really close.
Todd Castledine Fishing thank you, I just like the tip, and the bend for that extra second...keep it up biggin!
