- I get a lot of questions on how early in the year I can catch fish on frogs. In this video we went out fishing just trying to catch bass and stumbling on an early pre spawn frog bite. My buddy Jason and I show you the potential of an early frog bite with some giant bass. We share some tips on and secrets and what makes this bite so effective and what to look for.

So bad ass, great video. We get on a similar small window Punker bite in January here in Nor Cal. That 2nd and 3rd crazy Winter day, near 70, those big girls get on that shallow rock to sun...they'll make the trip up for that big 8" Punker. I didn't believe it until I found it...topwater in January. Crazy.

First, an apology. Here i am, sucking up as much info from you as I can. Trying to learn about fishing grass. Wasn't until a few weeks later when I ordered a couple of the popping perch. I've got what ? 4 - 5 different ones in my box and none of yours. I think I have a clue as to how to fish the thing. "it was made to go fast", not sloppy - but not slow.
So I've got an good tide next week and my "perch" should be here. I'm curious to play with this.

Todd, terrific vid, and you do have a mean hook set. I am guessing you were an outfielder or pitcher with a great throwing arm. Awesome! Absolutely my favorite way to fish! My biggest on a frog to date is 10'10".

No pitcher just took a lot of pride in mechanics in fishing. People can get away with sissy hooksets in most parts of the country. Texas is not one of them

My first FLW win was on Toledo I use to love that lake but they have mismanaged that place so bad that its frustrating as a fishermen to know how good it once was and how bad it is now because of people.

Sending this out to my co angler bc he grew up deep South and loves thish bite found out last year got our ass busted by this bite. But hay finished 8th sunday with only 4 fish i was stoked bc i lost 2 studs that would of put us 3rd plus.

Toledo sucks as of today. Fish still 2 weeks out. Caught some on a buzz toad. But was cold as hell and the wind was totally brutal. 34 on Saturday and 36 degrees on Sunday morning when I put the boat in the water. Needs to warm up just a tad. Water temp this morning was 54. Give me a break. Warm up for gods sake.
