I actually think this is one of the most perfect live performances ever. He actually played an insanely complex and intricate piece pretty much note for note in front of an audience and it was captured on video. Insane.
Steve Vai is one of those few men who was cataloged as God of the Guitar, because he reached that level, along with beasts like yngwie malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Paco de Lucia, Michael Angelo Batio, among others, his versatility and agility in stratospheric levels
You should hear his song called “whispering a prayer” it’s like this but more feeling. He’s top 10 all time and still touring today! He also composes and is a very big deal in the composer circles! Great song and reaction!
Vai is one of the few masters of the instrument. He can literally play anything that his mind creates and feels. there are only a few guitarist at this level in history. Its a short list.
You can't leave Frank Zappa off the list of guitar greats. Steve and Frank were neighbors and good friends. Steve played with Frank's son after Frank's death.
Steve transcribed all of Franks music to Catalog for him before playing with him for years before leaving on his own.. Steve will tell you he is not who he is today without Joe Satriani, Both who are from Long Island NY and he took lessons from him in his early years as a Kid
I have played a long time. I love jimmy and Hendricks. I must be honest and say over all? I do t think many are in his league, including Hendricks or page which is crazy to say because I love them both. Vai and SRV? They are another planet.
"Playing with his thingy "🤣😂🤣😂 That's called a "Whammy Bar ". He and Jeff Beck are the ultimate whammy bar masters! Vaughn is pronounced like "Von". I would also echo that Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson are musts to check out. I would also add Jeff Beck to that list (if you haven't already done so).
Your Cat was jamming back there! Your taste is growing, your brother is right! You are creating great musical memories which will give you a lifetime of happiness. Though don't quote me. Thanks Millie!
Always loved Vai. He can make you feel, put you in awe, stun you...whatever he wants. If you want one that's going to have you dancing around, you NEED to listen to "The Audience is Listening." It's an absolute jam. Another beautiful tune he's done, using a triple neck guitar, is called "I Know You're Here." The video is live, and great quality. I'd definitely go with the former first, though.
Steve Vai..One of the best ever..Millie, if you ever get a chance, whether it be a reaction video, or just on your own, please check into a brilliant guitarist "Tina S", and her cover of Steve Vai "For the Love of God" i believe she was around 16 when she posted her version on youtube.. i promise youll love it !
How does a musician not know what a tremolo bars is? You don’t hear Hendrix or page while listening to Vai because neither guy could do or can do what Vai is capable of doing. At least your brother understands world class rock guitarist
this guy also did the guitar on the Halo 2 Theme, just a fkn livin legend! If you want to hear a guitar cry then listen to Gary Moore! "Gary Moore - Still Got The Blues (Live)" with 89mio views and "Gary Moore - Parisienne Walkways - Live HD" with 66mio views. If you watch closely, he prefered to use only two fingers to play... also legend but already gone 🙏
Hot for a teacher and Yankee Rose with David Lee Roth if you really want to hear a guitar that expresses itself. he answers some questions with his Ibanez
If you like progressive rock listen to one of the leading groups Porcupine Tree. Watch the live in Tilburg song called Anesthetized. It will amaze you!
Try some music by YES one of the greatest progressive rock groups of all time. You haven't reacted to them at all. They have many long songs that are masterpieces. Not your usual music. Some good ones include "Roundabout", "Close to the Edge", "The Gates of Delirium". "Awaken", "Turn of the Century"... Loads of good ones.
Yeah the Steve Vai Ibanez signature models are absolutely gorgeous. Even the more inexpensive versions are insane.
Ibanez Gem with monkey grip and climbing Ivy Insets! Beautiful!!!
@richardkafka5625 the inlays are called the tree of life
My dad managed to get the limited edition black one too!
The emotion in this piece is so strong that any girls who listen to this piece must do a pregnancy test.
That man LIVES every note he plays, it is an astounding thing to watch, he is always right there in the moment on every song.
I actually think this is one of the most perfect live performances ever. He actually played an insanely complex and intricate piece pretty much note for note in front of an audience and it was captured on video. Insane.
the video is not a live performance. still amazing tho
I saw him and Satriani live a couple weeks ago, and the life performance is exactly as described
Steve Vai is one of those few men who was cataloged as God of the Guitar, because he reached that level, along with beasts like yngwie malmsteen, Joe Satriani, Paco de Lucia, Michael Angelo Batio, among others, his versatility and agility in stratospheric levels
And yet, Rolling Stone magazine did not see fit to have Vai on their top 100 guitarists of all-time...
You should hear his song called “whispering a prayer” it’s like this but more feeling. He’s top 10 all time and still touring today! He also composes and is a very big deal in the composer circles! Great song and reaction!
He has been playing since the 60s.all of the guitar gods say he is the greatest.
Vai is one of the few masters of the instrument. He can literally play anything that his mind creates and feels. there are only a few guitarist at this level in history. Its a short list.
This song is a beautiful love act, in three parts.... Passionate, for sure! 🙂Just amazing!!

@Lee4364 Those who know can hear a bit of Frank in everything Steve has done. And the song called Frank wow it's amazing
That's the highest skill of musician..speak your soul through your instrument

Tender surrender is based on jimi hendrix's villanova junction. The beginning is note for note.
Every time i hear the beginning of this song, i think he's going to play Villanova Junction by Jimi Hendrix

That guitar needs a cigarette.😂
Have you reacted to Joe Bonamassa yet?
I preferred the Steve Vai hired by Frank Zappa to play the unplayable guitar parts. 🎶
Guitar handle?
She means whammy bar
Give that guitar a cigarette🤣
