I'm currently researching on studying in China and I love your videos. Don't ever doubt keeping the little rants in because it really is the realest it gets. Good luck babe! 👊
Second year international student here, I'm also currently studying in china and I feel you for all the classes you take rn, been there and thankfully passed through first year smoothly. But for proving limits, I suggest you to memorize the steps even if you dont understand it, still works imo, it's not the topic you should focus for bcz there'll be more to come.
The brain explode feeling is just your brain getting stronger. Like mental situps. You'll see! Of course, you must take care of your physical health, but you are swimming, walking in the sun, and biking, so it seems good. Great to see the food in the cafeteria! Curious to see the whole offering -- US campuses started making cafeterias "profit centers" by having fast food chains set up on campus food, so the quality of the food got really horrible. The earlier "freshman 10 pound gain" is now "freshman 40 pound gain" in the US. I bet the Chinese will be shocked by this.
Haha I love that perspective! Haha yep activity is very important in maintaining a healthy mindset and overall well-being. LOL yeah the cafeterias in the US and China are definitely very different!
I’m also a PKU student though I don’t take Chinese classes so it’s definitely less stressful! Wish you the best ! I’m very happy I got this opportunity honestly, the campus is stunning and there’s so many nice people here.
Oh boy. She's saying she's failing math. Don't I hear that all the time. Show up for class, turn in required work. Get help from the TA. It'll all come together at the end of the term. The university is beautiful. Most awesome show. Keep it coming. Thank you.
that's pretty good.love to see what you are study during the Saturday for making up for the class you gonna missed on Sunday. while I am also study near the grasss of the campus. during a long
Your course load would be considered crazy in any US college (ie at Yale they normally don't even let you take more than 4 without approval) so you're doing great all things considered! For most math concepts there's usually good visual demonstrations out there to help you conceptualize why things work.
Ey I have the exact same schedule 😂☠️ Tues/Thursday it’s a 2 hr class, 2 hr class, 3 hr lab, then a final 2 hr class It’s on those days when you ask yourself why you stuffed your schedule to the brim, but then on M/W/F when you get to sleep in till 10am and only have a single class it feels amazing
Girl good luck!! Even tho my course load is not even any way close to urs loll but I think it’s normal for all of us to struggle at first including me!! we got thisᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ
Beijing University is one of the most prestigious university in China and it is highly competitive and may be quite challenging for first year students, let alone overseas students. You will be fine. 😊
22 credit hours is crazy! I think the most I ever took in college was 21 (I don't think we were even allowed to take more than that lol). Are there study groups for math and chemistry, or can you form them? Could help a ton. All the best to you!
Yep it hasn't been easy haha. Hmm I'll have to look into that :) A lot of my friends aren't taking the same classes as me though haha. Thank you so much for your constant support!
Hi, Eve! I'm currently in a similar situation as you when you applied to Peking/chinese universities and I wanted to ask if the fact that both your parents were Chinese affect the process at all? From my understanding, the Chinese government will consider you as a Chinese citizen (therefore not eligible to apply for the international program) as long as both your parents are born Chinese. Did your parents change their nationality and become US citizens already, or was there something that your family did to circumvent this rule? I'm really sorry if I offended you by asking this, but i want to know if I'll get rejected based on something that I can't change. Honestly it would save me the application fee of 100 dollars/700 yuan for Tsinghua.
No worries, no offense taken. In terms of specific nationality requirements I would suggest emailing Tsinghua and explaining your situation. They should be able to confirm whether you're eligible to apply as an international student :)
The weather there looks exactly as bad as Sydney at the moment lol. I’m wondering do most students in Peking university have electric scooters or regular bikes for traveling in campus? Seem a good investment imo. Congrats on surviving first week lol
Hello! Are you from China or born in the US? I’m intrigued by your fluency in Chinese. I’m a ABC (American born Chinese) and my Chinese sucked lol. Do you think a Chinese language barrier will prevent me from succeeding in a Chinese university?
Looks like a nice place. Do you really want to stress yourself out at a university that is taught in another language? School is already hard as it is. Good luck..
Why did you choose to study in a university that teaches in Chinese wouldn't it have been easier if you attended a university that teaches in English??

That's awesome! I'm glad everything worked out! Haha thanks for the suggestion :)

what course do you take for you to not have chinese classes ,? 😮
So glad you're enjoying it! It's an amazing place to be.
"I'm so tired it's not even funny"
LOL thank you!
That's hectic week. This reminds me of how I try to survive at the CUHKSZ university as a foreigner. However, my classes were not in Chinese, phew!。

Haha thank you! Yeah that's true. Visuals can really help in grasping the concept when things get a bit abstract

Thank you so much! Totally agree that adjusting can be hard at first, but we can do it!!

Thanks for your encouragement :)
Lets goo first again

If it's any consolation, epsilon delta proofs aren't intuitive to most people when they first encounter the material.

Yep scooters and bikes are pretty common! Haha thanks!
If you need help with math Id be willing to help! I am also very curious to see what material they cover for calculus.
Thanks! It's very similar to AP Calc BC but imo significantly harder.
Hello! Are you from China or born in the US? I’m intrigued by your fluency in Chinese. I’m a ABC (American born Chinese) and my Chinese sucked lol. Do you think a Chinese language barrier will prevent me from succeeding in a Chinese university?
i'm from the us! the language barrier is def a challenge, but i'm sure you can overcome it if you work hard :)
Looks like a nice place. Do you really want to stress yourself out at a university that is taught in another language? School is already hard as it is. Good luck..
Thank you :)
Hmm. It appears that "professional mandarin" poses little problem for you! That shows how much improvement you have made with the language! 🙂
Haha thank you!
hey! is your 专业汉语 taught by 国际关系学院?
Yep!
Why did you choose to study in a university that teaches in Chinese wouldn't it have been easier if you attended a university that teaches in English??
Feel free to check out some of my other videos for more info :)
