This is absolutely disturbing. This technology strips kids of their individuality, expression and takes away from their soul, imagine getting into trouble from your parents because the AI caught you yawning multiple times throughout the day? What if the teachers lesson plan was boring or uninteresting, the kid is made to suffer if they're not interested? What if the student is more artistically inclined and gets more excited when doing art instead of mathematics? This tech forces them not to have a natural interest for certain subjects vs others. The worst part is the fact that the results are published for all parents to see. How does this not cause discrimination? Parents could encourage their children not to hang out or play with kids who are consistently viewed as being distracted. Eventually this leads to a generation of children who grow up to become controlled zombies or worse commit suicide because of the constant surveillance.
No, the results would not be published, as it is against the law, at least where I come from. However, your child’s data might be compared with the rest of the class. So, if your child yawns but the others do not, it might give both teachers and parents an insight into what is happening and help solve the problem.
China and its communist government has already been doing that for decades and seeing them dwell deeper and deeper into this with the rise of advanced computing is incredibly scary. I mean my home country (Denmark) is mostly neutral but still worrisome when it comes to China and for both obvious and smaller reasons, like the Chinese tourists always acting very weirdly and rudely, or the poor quality of Chinese products, but in recent years, the reaches of this kinda stuff too.
As a teacher you easily know who is distracted and who is not and teachers do try their best to encourage the distracted students but we don't need AI or headbands to detect that. Every child is an indivıdual and they have their own pace. This is pathetic, poor kids are monitored this way.
It can affects teacher performance too, imagine being a boring teacher and no one in the class is paying attention. There must be something wrong with the teaching method. The choice is in the teacher's hand tho, whether to improve or fired.
But atleast they focused well from class I mean teachers won't have to stress out repeating the lesson over and over again because of student's busy talking or imagining something rather then doing their work hence why their grades would be low
This is like a mental prison for students. As a student, I wouldn’t want this kind of sophisticated technology to analyze our every move. Edit: Yes, it would help kids to have an attentive skill but in my opinion this technology restricts the imagination and creativity of kids. Take away their freedom to be imaginative and creative at an early age then all the kids will know for their entire lives is to follow rules.

Can't they just make the same thing but to detect stress levels? Because I don't think you learn better when you're stressed and when the teacher sees your stressed she can dismiss you to get a drink of water or something to relax a bit and get back to learnin.
I think the teachers comment that "the headbands have forced students to become more disciplined" says it all, regardless of whether the devices provide accurate data or not (they probably don't) the placebo effect provides enough impact.
In my opinion, it isn't that bad. It just checks if they are focused, distracted or just not paying attention it doesn't invade their privacy.. And if they get scolded or hit by their parents because of their grades and how focused they are then its the parents fault. Also wearing the headband was optional.

I think this technology could be beneficial if used correctly (China is obviously not using it correctly). As it just sees if pupils are focused or distracted. Yes if used in all classes to check the pupils it’s bad but what if it was used to gauge how good a teacher is? Like put them on for some lessons so the schools can see what pupils respond to best, how they can teach in a way that ingages pupils. If they were used for a mentality of “we will use these occasionally to improve the quality of our lessons and increase student engagement to stop pupils from falling through the gaps in our education system” this could be really good. The problem is many school systems would use it to scrutinise pupils. But if it was used to see engagement on lessons then it could improve how teachers teach. Another note: it could possible help with the diagnosis of some learning disabilities namely ADD as ADD is often not noticed as the pupils aren’t focused but aren’t disrupting the lesson, with this the teacher would see “oh this pupil who I thought was focusing on my lesson was actually distracted for much of it” and thus be able to look into it further and possibly get pupils who would’ve went on struggling with undiagnosed learning difficulties for years get diagnosed earlier. This technology has its potential to be incredibly beneficial if used correctly with the right mindset.
I appreciate this technical advancement .but as a school going student what I thinks if I don't like maths and my teacher is observing me at every time so its not good enough . its a kind of pressure . She needs to change her teaching way .

Parents could encourage their children not to hang out or play with kids who are consistently viewed as being distracted. Eventually this leads to a generation of children who grow up to become controlled zombies or worse commit suicide because of the constant surveillance.
The country is ruled by an authoritarian regime CCP. So, they want to train future leaders to be like them. 😞
No, the results would not be published, as it is against the law, at least where I come from. However, your child’s data might be compared with the rest of the class. So, if your child yawns but the others do not, it might give both teachers and parents an insight into what is happening and help solve the problem.

It does not matter how great you become or advanced if in today's times, you destroy other countries, take their natural resources, bully them, conquer them "legally", etc...
China is such a great country, a beautiful country, beautiful language, amazing history, food and culture. China has contributed to the world a lot...
...but as of today, 2019, the China of today breeds so much hatred from a lot of nationalities. Not only because of how crass Mainland Chinese has become, but also because as a nation, you have zero morals.
You are destroying all your Asian neighbors. You are destroying the world with your "business practices".
...and you don't care if you are scum, with no morals and ethics just as long as you get what you want.
That is why, no matter how much you become a world power, the world hates you.
Everyone is only using "Made in China" because there's really no more choices. The US made it so. Your corporations that transferred businesses to China empowered them. US created bully that they cannot handle.
What kind of future for the world with China as the world power? Probably the world wouldn't even know that the poorer Asian countries are already occupied by the Chinese.
China intends to wipe out the world's races. Most people in the West don't even care that their actions are enabling them. Most people in the West still worship and support the Chinese economy that enables them to conquer the surrounding Asian countries and destroy their natural resources.
You only have to look at how China has already eliminated a lot of minority races in their country.
Also, you only have to look at HongKong. If they can't win against China, being an important economic hub in the world, what of us, other Asian countries? Chinese military wouldn't even allow us to fish the seas of our countries!

You can't use an EEG headset in the classroom. EEG data is highly susceptible to pollution; any movement can lead to inaccurate results. This shows China doesn't prioritize science.
