i understand fully your do i care about my GPA vs as long as i pass the exam dilemma, but remember that your mental health comes first. you can also consider your freshman year as a "trial" year (?); take it to get used to the system and to the language, and also only take the amount of things that you can handle, so you don't burnout. good luck in your finals, you got this!! ✨✨

I recommend checking out economic consulting! It’s a relatively niche field within consulting, and definitely less known than finance/IB/management consulting. Econ consultants work on both quantitative and qualitative analyses related to legal matters. Think of it as economists/data scientists for lawyers :)

Congrats on pulling through your first semester. Not sure what its like in China but in the US, IB recruiting is like 99+% trying to get into elitists ass clubs to weasel into coffee chats with pretentious white people who add no value to society and when you do work you're often doing 16+ hour days where most of it is just being on alert for no reason, at least at pristigious firms (other roles are pretty normal). I never got the appeal honestly because it seemed so antithetical to A everything about me as a stem person and B everything you learn in liberal arts education.

Yet if I had to start all over again, rather a career in ib and degree in Economics, becoming a medical doctor has always been more interesting and respected in society from my personal opinion.

Yeah, when my wife and I taught ESL online to the kids in China, we often worked on Christmas day because they didn't take the day off. But I had a nice break during Chinese New Year. 😀 And whatever you decide about your future career, UA-cam can be a nice source of side income. 😝
