I would add that after clearing the old caulk to wipe the area down with alcohol or any disinfectants. That will at least delay molds from coming back.
I squirt gel bleach around the caulk so it never gets mouldy, leave it a little while and shower it off. Also keep the bathroom window open to let the steam out when you have a shower or bath 😀🇬🇧
There are plastic razor blades that are awesome. They can be used on glass, metal, painted surfaces with no scratches. Both HD and Lowes carry them usually in the paint section. Sometimes you have to hunt for them. For caulking corners I first do the ends of the tub with painters tape, let it dry and then do the back. Nice clean corners by not trying to do it all at once. Never heard of caulk B gone before so very excited to try it.
In my shop I have a small refrigerator that I keep open tubes of all types such as caulk, silicone etc. plus unclean paint or stain brushes wrapped in Saran wrap knowing I'll be using them soon.
This is exactly what I needed to see. My husband used to take care of stuff like this. And now, it's all me. I have a lot to learn and feel overwhelmed with things to fix around the house. Next on my list is how to fix the toilet from running. Do you have a video for that? 😆 Thank you for your help. Oh! Do I really need to buy a caulking gun? Couldn't I just squeeze tube, is it too hard?
If the caulk you want to use come in a squeeze tube, yes it’s ok to use. If the caulk you want to use only comes in a round, hard tube, you’ll need a caulk gun.
Biggest tip I can give anyone caulking is to never use the tip cutter on the gun itself. Always cut the smallest tip possible to poke. I generally do a sharp angle on one side bland cut a back angle on the opposite side so when your filling holes it dosent explode out the sides the back gives it relief. Never used a caulk remover just use a blunted/rounded super flexible scraper never stiff don't want to dig into the porcelain.
Take a look at your local home store feelcthe tips of the putty knifes some are razer sharp like the stiff ones. My local lowes has made in USA werner ones that have a soft rounded edge. I think on az werner makes my favorite full flex 3/4in puddy knife with a brown handle that works great. Painter's Series, 504. Stiff digs flex is safer.
Thank you for your tutorials. Amazing how you removed the mould. I'm in Europe and need to find similar products to those you suggest. The ones I had bought didn't do the job.
I would warn that when using metal scrapers to remove the caulking, don't over apply pressure, or you might damage the porcelain higher/lower than the caulking line. IMO
This makes sense, my husband kaulk our kitchen tiles, right at the back of the tap and guess what, that is the only place mould grows 110%. And the same regarding the shower.
When I caulked my bath tube/tile joint, I used silicone, 100% waterproof and it eventually started growing mold anyway. These manufacturers promote unproven results just to sell their products.
Silicone caulk is mold resistant not mold proof. Really, anything can host mold in a damp dark environment. Best way to completely remove mold from your existing caulk without having to overhaul it is make a thick paste of sodium bicarbonate and bleach. Brush onto the surface of the caulk and cover either cellophane wrap sp the bleach doesn't dry out. After 24hr remove cellophane and rinse away. Mold free. If you need video reference there are a handful of vids on UA-cam demonstrating this procedure.
take some sandpaper bend it at a 90 degrees and hold it against the wall and tub. Then slide the tip of the tube along it so now the tip fits the angle between wall and tub
You should never use your finger after application. You compromise the structure of the silicone by flattening it. There are cheap tools to maintain an exact angle giving you a much stronger seal integrity. You should also always degrease it. Denatured alcohol is great and kills off any remaining spores and bacteria that could compromise the new seal from the inside out.
Thanks for your advice about the product and methods. HOWEVER, you skipped a step! The area where the old caulk was and the adjacent grout still have mold! It must be bleached and thoroughly dried prior to applying new caulk.
NEVER EVER USE MASKING TAPE. The edges may well look clean but they aren't sealed properly. There are a lot of silicone applicators available on the market to give you a brilliant seal and finish.
I fantasize about a 100% solid surface shower. They can shape that and stick it together and it’s completely waterproof. No seams anywhere. And you can scrub it all you want. No caulk. We live in a very humid climate, so no matter how much venting we do, no matter how much climate control we have, mold is a persistent challenge. And I worry about scrubbing on it because I don’t want leaks through the caulk. I feel like a prisoner of war in my shower.

I recommend a product called Concrobium
It cleans sealant remover off thoroughly also🙂
Can't tell you how much I needed this! Thank you all so much!

You are so welcome! 🙏🏽
Thanks for a great video!
How about tips & tricks to re-caulk around a window inside & outside?
I squirt gel bleach around the caulk so it never gets mouldy, leave it a little while and shower it off. Also keep the bathroom window open to let the steam out when you have a shower or bath 😀🇬🇧
I heard bleach does not do anything !
Nice job! This came at the perfect time for me. Can you do a video to help us redo our grout in the bathroom.

Always enjoy watching your videos. You do an amazing job explaining! Make me feel more confident as a DIYer.
In my shop I have a small refrigerator that I keep open tubes of all types such as caulk, silicone etc. plus unclean paint or stain brushes wrapped in Saran wrap knowing I'll be using them soon.
I use white spirits to make sure all sealant remover is dissolved before re application of sealant ,and use bt-1 type sealant .👍

Oh! Do I really need to buy a caulking gun? Couldn't I just squeeze tube, is it too hard?
Squeeze tubes work fine. No caulk gun is needed.
There are smaller squeeze tubes to buy, the larger tubes u do need a caulking gun
If the caulk you want to use come in a squeeze tube, yes it’s ok to use. If the caulk you want to use only comes in a round, hard tube, you’ll need a caulk gun.
@@abunchahooey ... thank you, very helpful information
That’s the first time you seen that brand of caulk remover. Thanks for the info!
Thank you for your tips and i don't know how I got your recommendation, but I'm glad I did, you have yourself a new subscriber! 😊💜

Question….which blunted/rounded super flexible scraper are you talking about ? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all the useful tips and your easy explanation on how to use products
Awesome video! I never heard of caulk be gone!
I love your channel ! Thank you so much for helping me(a mom and homemaker) get jobs done the right way 💪❤
Thank you so much for the love and support! 🙏🏽😊
I used cotton balls and bleach to remove the mold. No more removing and replacing caulk. But i finally replaced it with silicone caulk.
Thanks. You're making us smarter with every video. 👍🏻😊
Are there any specialty tool that help you caulk behind faucets where you can’t get the nozzle down to keep the line straight?
What kind of gloves do you use when caulking
I usually put a nail in the caulk tube then pull it out when ready
I do the same. Or a big screw. Holds it fresh for months.
take some sandpaper bend it at a 90 degrees and hold it against the wall and tub. Then slide the tip of the tube along it so now the tip fits the angle between wall and tub
excellent video. well explained!!
Dude!! Worked excellent! Thanks for the video.

How to you recommend to remove caulk from coated glass shower door partitions?
Thank You, any DIY job i need help with, I'll Look You Up. 😊
Can you use, if there is such a thing, clear caulk?
Great job- another learning session
Great tip !! Thanks
I’m glad I could be of help! 🙏🏽😊
Does the Caulk Be Gone work on 100% silicone?
Can you use that around the Stainless steel sink and your granite?
This is very helpful!
So does this work only on acrylic? Or silicone as well?
Should work on acrylic as well 👍🏽
bro u saved my life
Great video thanks!!!
can this caulk remover works on sillicone caulk?
I can definitely see how putting a rubber on your caulk will save you some money down the road…
😂
Does it take off silicon caulk also?
A clear caulking/layer was added to the corners of going up the wall in my shower. Can I use the same process to replace it?
I love it,thank you so much 🤗
Thank you for the video.
It was my pleasure! 👍🏽🙏🏽😊
wow , awesome thank you
Do you have to be careful where you use the "caulk be gone" so it doesn't damage the material it is on?
It’s very forgiving, if you leave it for 2 hours and less than 6 hours you should be ok 👍🏽 I’m not sure on wood though.
Thanks for your advice about the product and methods. HOWEVER, you skipped a step! The area where the old caulk was and the adjacent grout still have mold! It must be bleached and thoroughly dried prior to applying new caulk.
Me too! Mine is loose where it attaches to the tub.
Thank you
Nice!💯 Ty & all the best!❤️🙏🏾
it says on the remover it's for acrylic caulk, so what about silicone caulk.
Thanks
I’m glad I could be of help!
Thank you.
¡Gracias!
Product for “latex” caulking not silicone or urethane caulkings
If you have to scrape it... save your money and just use a scraper to begin with. I have always used a razor blade on bathtub chaulk.
Good job
I’ve seen videos that do not recommend using masking tape as water can get caught in the tiny lip it creates. 🤷♀️
NEVER EVER USE MASKING TAPE. The edges may well look clean but they aren't sealed properly. There are a lot of silicone applicators available on the market to give you a brilliant seal and finish.
Thanks!
I can’t see the link to the caulk removers vid.
No worries! Here is the link to that caulk remover comparison video : m.ua-cam.com/video/JY7cPZtu6lE/v-deo.html
I needed that 👌
I’m glad I could be of help! 👍🏽🙏🏽😊
tilex mold remover
Anyone looking for the best caulking guns in the market tajima are extraordinary good quality I don't much care for newborn after using a tajima.
Good wife, God bless her in Jesus name.
Caulk (new or old application) won’t fix poor tile shower and bath surround construction.

Awesome video! Now you can buy condoms for your caulk? Good idea! Sorry, I just couldn't resist!
Caulk be gone
You know it works also to remove mold of caulking bleach
That works too 👍🏽 sometimes when the mold is deep in there, bleach can only remove so much. Thank you for sharing!
I strongly concur with you. Don’t stop making good videos like this.
😄
Caulk condoms? 😂😂😂😂
How about using a heat gun to remove that?
Thank you!🙏🏽 ❤
