Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 чер 2024
- The Wall Street Journal describes him as the "Henry Ford of heart surgery". In rural India, he is known as "bypass wale baba". Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty is a renowned heart surgeon who has brought high-tech healthcare to the financially challenged. In a country with over 12 lakh doctors, Dr. Shetty stands out. Over his three-decade career, he has performed more than 15,000 heart surgeries, including India’s first neonatal cardiac surgery in 1992, and has also served as Mother Teresa’s physician.
He is the chairman and founder of Narayana Hrudayalaya, which provides heart surgeries at affordable prices in India. Narayana Health operates a network of 24 hospitals and 7 heart centers nationwide. Dr. Shetty has been honoured with the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India, for his exemplary service and dedication.
In an episode of the ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, Dr. Shetty discusses the rising cases of heart attacks among young people. He addresses whether the COVID-19 vaccine is linked to heart attacks or not and shares tips for maintaining heart health. Dr Shetty advocates for an annual full-body check-up and outlines his plans to make health check-ups and heart surgeries more affordable.
Dr. Shetty also highlights the shortage of female nurses in India and urges the government to take proactive measures to address it. As a top surgeon, he emphasizes how the Ayushman Bharat scheme is transforming healthcare and believes India will lead in decoupling health from wealth.

Dr Sai Sathish, Senior Interventional Cardiologist from Apollo Hospitals,
People like Dr Shetty should be part of healthcare policy making in India. He has been doing a great service by saving lives of poor people for a very long time.
For doing good changes lot of support is needed in India. Se what to Agniveer scheme and farm laws. Very few who were beneficiary of bad system protested in a big way. Big changes in medical are needed.
So nice conversation
Listen to the doc at 23.23 he said in the last 7 years, number of medical colleges have doubled. Achievement of this Modi govt.
Yes. Dr. Shetty has solutions. Then how will money grabbing pharma survive? !
Talented peoples are never ever accommodated in Govt body in India.
" Democracy in illiteracy is hypocrisy without any limitation"***"🙏Joy
Your next podcast should be with the health minister. Ask him the solution of manpower, nursing colleges, etc. Maybe call this doctor too. Great show as usual!
There are better career options available why someone wants to be a nurse
True
good, dont waste the opportunity for indians
@@Mrmaertit's the same reason why someone chooses to be a teacher instead of a high paying job. Nursing can be an attractive career if it is packaged well. Let's not forget that our country is amongst the largest exporters of nurses abroad.
One podcast with dr Shetty, dr Trehan , dr hegde with the health minister and his IAS officers..who can discuss and make policy and implement them
Trust is the main issue for most of us for not going to hospitals for check ups!!!So much of fearwe can count our fingers for doctors like DR SHETTY...one of most humble and best doctor!!
Salute to the real Gentleman and a Gem of India.
Dr.Devi Prasad Shetty another gem from Tulunadu / Tulu Pradesh.
❤
Only wish we had a lot more of Dr.Shetty's tribe. He is a gem that's why he is transparent in talking to media. Smita is spot on, in T.nadu it is a commercial industry with KPIs targets for doctors
He is from general category and a Brahmin, Tamil Nadu have 75% reservation that's why most of general category leave their state!
@@thephysicscatalyst6048 Shettys are not Brahmins.
How does it matter? Doctors have no religion@@vishwanath1761
Brilliant explaination with humility. Dr Shetty is a true idol.
Myself happen to meet him for a child go through operation for charity he done it .He is God to lot's of people in India and other countries too.I feel proud that I am from his home town.
Smita this is the best podcast. You were talking to God. I hope many more can talk to this gem of a human 🙏
Thank you Smita Prakash for holding this conversation.
Concerns are large and knowledge builds up through these conversations. Thank you Dr. Devi Shetty, you are a true role model.
Man!!this man is same as he was 10 years before..there's no change in his voice, health and vision!!._one of his admirer being a medical aspirant
watching him talk about medicine, spirituality, and mental health is highly therapeutic to me. Good job team
What a man!
Amongst other things, we suffer from a severe shortage of people like Dr Shetty.❤
Always loved the humbleness and clarity Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty .Thank you for the conversation.
Dr.Sunil Sathe one of the renowned international cardiologist from Pune also spoke about spiritual aspect on outcome of patients after the cardiac surgery.. It's always in the hands of unknown super power..You can call it as GOD
Narayana hrudyalaya is very costly. Also I was charged for covid test without doing it when covide was not there(late 2022). The nurses are of not so good service. It is my own experience. The hospital has more than 70% Bangladeshis patients,I wonder why? The environment is like Dhaka airport.
Agreed
Even Apollo hospital is also like that
Chor bazaar
Educate kids from school days the art of giving ...... Blood Donation, Organ Donation, Cleanliness, healthy living, healthy eating and regulate junk foods, chips, packed food with preservative.
Yaaa taking fir unko kaisey hospital tak pohonchanaa hai gurdey etc kaisey chupkey se nikaalna hai plan kiyaa jaa sakey..

Try not minding! Mushkil hoga pat
Jo pehle hain vo health workers ke attitude dekhey hain .money minters is what they r
The problem is that not every doctor is Dr. Shetty and people don’t believe that doctors in private hospitals necessarily have their best interests in mind.
I think the idea of taking the check up facility to the work place is brilliant, cost effective and time saving. This will surely be a success.
Very experienced and an insightful man🙏!! A true visionary who has dwelt with all kinds of problems in India and is working actively on solutions👍!!! Very informative interview!!

Very Nice interview. The problem mentioned by Dr. Shetty should be taken up by the media and asked to responsible persons so that this will get resoved and it will help improve healthcare in our country. Ex . Shortage of nurses, Licensing issue, Faculty issue faced by industry.

Problem with nurses leaving India is because of the Salary they receive when Compared to Abroad where, they can earn more and settle in their life... Salary for the nurses in India has to be competitive so, that nurses doesn't think of leaving India....
