I am Australian but travel frequently and spend a majority of my time in China for business. My gripe is that Australian border control make no effort to advertise their importation restrictions in China regarding food and bio material. I do understand that it is up to individual travelers to check but food is currency in China and for new travelers there is no mention of these restrictions until you are on the plane and handed the declaration slip. We can argue this back and forward but I do feel an information campaign directed at travelers to Australia, especially from China would eliminate a lot of these risk factors. Australian BorderControl make great efforts to highlight the problem once travelers have reached Australia but very little effort to stop it at the source. Wouldn’t it be far better to stop these high risk items being carried over rather than taking the chance to find it at our borders? I am a realist and can equate that not all these foods, seeds, plants etc are always stopped.
@ Chinese Customs, like Australian and most country Customs are not worried or question what you are taking out of the country as they do not know where you are heading. Chinese people are very respective of their laws and in China carrying food is not illegal and as mentioned is a currency they take and give to friends and family as respectful offerings.
@@jonjones7665 But why are Chinese People always take so much food with them? Why not eat food from the country you travel? And yes, if i am travelling abroad, its my thing to inform me about the rules of the visited country...
Ignorance is no excuse- I am also Australian and travelled around the world and I like many other people who travel always ensure that I am familiar with border requirements and the custom regulations of the country I am travelling to. For example when travelling to Thailand or Dubai I have to ensure that any medications I have and take aren’t prohibited medications and illegal to bring into those countries. I have to ensure if it’s prescribed medication I have my doctor’s prescription and a letter from the pharmacy who fills my prescription confirming their dispensation of that particular medication . I also have to contact the relevant country’s embassy to declare that I intend to take the medication with me when visiting their country, so that it can be noted on my tourist visa when I am going through customs! If I don’t do all of this before I travel then I run a very high risk of being arrested because medications such as painkillers that you may buy over the counter or obtain by prescription in Australia for example panadeine forte whose main ingredient is codeine are actually considered an illegal narcotic in countries such as Dubai. So there really is no excuse for failing to educate yourself with all the facts before travelling- everyone has access to the internet these days it certainly isn’t that hard to check online at the same time as you are applying for a travel visa. Australia has a well known reputation of having very stringent immigration and customs restrictions and for good reason! From the looks on the majority of these people’s faces and their evasive answers to questions asked, its fairly evident they know full well about our restrictions regarding food, plant matter, etc and are simply choosing not to abide by them. They are hoping that by simply saying they have nothing to declare they will be able to get through customs undectected. It seems to me they know exactly what they’re doing and therefore it’s their responsibility if they are caught. The moral of the story is If you are in any doubt about whether the items or foods you are intending to bring into a country such as Australia could be prohibited items - then make sure you declare them! That way you may have them confiscated if they are banned but at least you won’t have to pay a hefty fine because you’ve done the right thing by declaring them in the first place!
We are an Indian family with a son with severe food intolerances to the point that we have a separate bag full of food stuff and cooking utensils we carry on every vacation. I hope that the fines have been increased substantially, and that the laws have changed to make prosecution more likely in cases of blatant ignoring of restrictions!
Infringement notices at the airport as stated by Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry: "Under Commonwealth law, financial penalties, including infringement notice amounts, are calculated in ‘penalty units’. Section 4AA of the Crimes Act 1914 sets the dollar amount of one penalty unit. As of 1 July 2023 the amount of one penalty unit is set at $313. The amount payable under an infringement notice is specified in the notice. The minimum amount for Infringement notices issued at the airport for the alleged contravention of s 126(2), s 128(2), s 532(1) or s 533(1) of the Biosecurity Act is 2 penalty units ($626). However, if a traveller fails to declare goods of a kind known to pose a high level of biosecurity risk, and in doing so allegedly contravenes s 532 (1) or s 533 (1), the infringement notice amount increases to 6 penalty units ($1,878) or 12 penalty units ($3,756) depending on the risk of the goods. If a traveller conceals conditionally non-prohibited goods that are brought or imported into Australian territory, and in doing so allegedly contravenes s 186A(1), the infringement notice amount increases to 20 penalty units ($6,260). The amount payable on an infringement notice is not discretionary. It is important to note that biosecurity officers do not have the legal authority to make decisions on how many penalty units will apply to each infringement notice." So the amount is $1,878 or more if the food was not declared.

Good to hear fines have been increased. It should be per item!
They will see and find out everything so dont deny on any answers just str8 up tell the truth 💯
Job well done🎉
The fines aren't high enough.
People wldnt hide food if the fines were more realistic like 2500 per offence .. can’t pay then back on the plane you go..
Anyone who brings excessive food once is flagged to be searched again. Period. And maximum fines.
Maybe just hire more interpreter, I've been watching Border Security for a few years now. The amount of misunderstanding that's in the show are numerous. We can do better than this.
People who,are trying to scam the gov often pretend more of a language problem than they have.
Most of these are 10 yrs old, budgets were different then
There are plenty of signs and pamphlets around the airport in many languages. They already know all of this before they land, they should dispose of food products in the many bins when they get off the plane. No excuse.
Or just maybe be honest...Most declaration cards are in the native language...people are just sneaky and play stooooopid
The onus is on you to know the rules and regulations of a country you are travelling to. Ignorance is no excuse.
Thanks For Sharing ,Please Upload More ,Thank You !。Very Nice Video 👍👍👍!。
Love to see this..if you declare everything truthfully then this would not happen. I declared everything even my chocolates have nuts as food, then explain, the chocolates are from Belgium and Holland, as seen in the packagings. The officers or staffs are doing a great and good job, protecting illegal and dangerous items coming into the country.👏👏👏👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Better to be safe than sorry
Chinese always take food and cash with them to Australia, and they can get same food from local Asian shops in Australia.
That's how they keep no bankruptcy so that they don't have to bring narcos to the country for living😂
300 dollars fine for exposing the whole industry to a potential loss of billions of dollars???
Is this a joke or what ?
Who would take such fine seriously?
Impose a 30K USD FINE and see who wants to play the smuggler ….
Why would Australian Customs and Border Control impose fines in US dollars? We have our own currency.
@@Michelle-s4z Australia doesn’t have its own currency… they follow the US in everything. The USA owns Australia…. More like the USA is the master and Australia is its puppy dog.
@@Michelle-s4z duh hes probably a yank and thinks in USD
You bring this upon yourselves, it’s not stereotyping. South Americans, Colombians, Brazilians etc it is what it is
Yes, it happens to Colombians and Peruvians bcoz that are where drugs easily available on the streets.
The background music is terribly loud. Not everyone is able to use subtitles. I will prob just subscribe to Danger TV. Your loud audio is annoying.
I have watched a lot of the episodes and this is the first one when it has been this bad. It is usually loud at the intro but not during the show.
He doesn't live in "Holland," he lives in the Netherlands.
Every episode, i pray for a prosecution!!! Neva happens
I've seen a few, but I have watched a lot of episodes.
It's a really cool trick the way the narration, at all times, sounds like it's coming out of some unseen person in the background''s earbuds. Not the greatest re: user experience, but a pretty cool trick
Easy remedy- check their luggage prior to checking in.I’m Asian and I always bring cooked/ processed food like cookies and biscuits. And I always check what’s approve and not to bring in a particular country.
The difference is you've got cooked food that's likely commercially packed and processed, and as such no risk
Can you all please chill with the background music! ? There's already a lot of sound from the airport, so annoying, we really don't need the music, thanks
Or at least lower the volume, please. It is very annoying.
the fines are too cheap - they should be $1000 or more
That was 10-15 years ago.
please enjoy the food wherever you travel to ~
Not just food laying down all kinds of plants/seeds for their Enterprises.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇺🇸⭐️🇨🇦Possibly a decoy for other Trvelers.
It seems to me passing through Customs is something of an IQ test. And those who take advice on importing prohibited imports from those who have not very recently recently travelled to Australia fail the test even before they leave home.
Some Chinese have lived in Australia for years and still bring back cases full undesirable food.
one cup of chinese healthy tea is a big risk for Australian stomach
The “Singaporean” woman sounds like a migrant from China
I Know You're Just 16 But Looking All of 21; That's Because Chinese Look Older.
She says it herself lol "in China we mix up"
5:24 I like her head wrap. 😁
Plse stop background musak😢😢😢
Andrea is my fav
She deserves a raise and her own shoe
full of undeclared food and only paid $180.... too low price of fine.
Do they not have food in Australia?
They but it’s expensive
Apparently not
Mushrooms arent plants. They are in their own phylum.
$360 it’s very small amount!!
Maybe the fine on non allowed foods should be $100 per item.
good idea to buy luggage and never loan it to anyone else, clean luggage inside outside after each trip, check pockets in all baggage before travelling and do not take drugs a few days prior to your trip. Likely to minimize secondary screening.
That Asian couple should have been denied entry .
All countries are hard, risk for drugs even Australia
They lose so much money for the food then money for the fines. In their country they would be thrown in jail for that offense. Why do they think we should tolerate it
That lady with the head scarf is so pretty. I’m sad for her. Just like in America I wonder how farmers can make it without people coming in to help because it must be a hard way to make a living and I don’t know how many native people are willing to do that job?
Bless her, she looked so close to tears.
Thing is, what we do is working holiday visas, so what you get is extra visa time and you're allowed to work, and you get a bonus for working in a farm/rural area. The difference is you have to pay taxes.
I agree. Fines need to be increased. Education is important!
The fines are too low. It should be a $1000 min.
I am shocked that adults, even elderly just go right through customs with putrid fish, sausages that are not refrigerated, some with bugs and risk being fined, lose passport etc. all for food and seeds. What’s the deal, are they starving? And no one obeys common law’s today?
And here we go again with bundled repeats. 😢
The background music is louder than any words spoken.
I hope that the fines have been increased substantially, and that the laws have changed to make prosecution more likely in cases of blatant ignoring of restrictions!
What a joke, $360 fine, they should take all the food if they find any undeclared food. the penalties need to be a minimum of $1000
Infringement notices at the airport as stated by Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry:
"Under Commonwealth law, financial penalties, including infringement notice amounts, are calculated in ‘penalty units’.
It is important to note that biosecurity officers do not have the legal authority to make decisions on how many penalty units will apply to each infringement notice."
So the amount is $1,878 or more if the food was not declared.
49:33 diarrhea 😂😂😂😂😂
I don’t understand why food is allowed at all. Can’t they buy food in Australia or any other country during their stay?
😂😂 these people seem to see this as a joke .. IF their visa status was at stake I think the officers would have less violations
25:35 Exactly what I was talking about in my other comment.
35:12 I’ve said it before on other videos that I believe that much food is likely being brought in for resale in a store, or restaurant.
$160.- for heaps of forbidden food ??😢
Don't these offenders know that their luggage bags are scanned?
I really don’t mind letting these border security check inside my bag to see if I have any unusual item inside the my bag 😂 just like when i let the border security check inside bag inside my are nothing but Yugioh cards and Nintendo switch which are not illegal when i travel to shanghai
Same. They're keeping my country safe so I'm happy for them to go over my stuff with a swab and whatever else. If I've accidentally trekked in something that puts out farmers and food suppliers at risk, I want it stopped at the border.
Bangkok Chickboys DVD
Good boy Rusty!….even thought that dog is definitely dead by now
These people need to be arrested not just fined
Turn down the music
I’m a full time teacher and have a part time job, did I not mention I’m a part time cigarette salesman?
I feel for the Iranian man, just looking for a better life for his family
That’s not Singaporean… that’s a china woman with a singaporean passport… she sound nothing like a true singaporean 😂…
Whatchu mean that’s how Singaporeans sound 😂
Just curious, how do you defined true or fake Singaporean. No matter which country she come from and she is holding a genuine Singapore passport and I guess an ID card too she is automatically become a Singaporean citizen. I don’t understand about the true thing. Correct me if I am wrong.
@@jplin888 you can hear a very distinctive accent…
Yeah, she wasn't speaking Singlish at all. She was defo mainland Chinese who probably married a Sing man.
@@jplin888 in singapore we have China people with passport from Africa region coming in as citizens of those countries washing dirty cash in Singapore … a passport is no longer a indicator of your nationality anymore… lucky for Singapore, it still not that easy to get our passport but still there are still loopholes to obtain it.
41:57 I definitely don’t agree with people going to work illegally in other countries, but at least they are willing to work. I was married to a man who wouldn’t work for more than a couple of weeks at a time. He had the physical capability, and above average intelligence, but wouldn’t support me, and our 2 kids!
this show can not be exist without Chinese..
Surely the word must be going back to China that there are Chinese food shops in Australia. I understand it might not taste quite the same as back home but its better than all this nonsense.
It’s an ingrained habit to lie and try to scam. Just culture.
Do they not believe in the need for interpreters there? I feel like having access to interpreters would make such a huge difference!! They talk to so many people in English and you can clearly see the people coming in have no clue what’s going on.
I mean, you can't come to an English country and expect to do official government business in your native language. They also provide all the documents in basically every language possible.
Sorry, Sorry, Sorry.....
The back ground music is too loud on this one
48:43 That’s a beautiful urn!
I wonder what if they actually drilled into an urn with ash. What happens then 55:33
Came to steal land 😂 I don’t know
Please give the dogs larger cages.they help you so much.
