I was a tour guide back in the seventies. I took my groups from England to Greece. I made sure each of my little charges had all of their paperwork in order, plenty of sunscreen, appropriate clothing, shoes, Pepto Bysmol,etc. They knew all of the laws. Customs was much, much more lenient back then.I really mother henned them, and they had a wonderful time. I took them to all of the cool places that the locals used, and it was a great, great job.

Very strict southern border here in the US and you have no idea what you are talking about. They check people's cell phones, bags and send them back. You need to do some research before posting. Also, Australia has only water border as it's an island and the US has both land and water borders which makes it much harder to control. So comparing these two countries isn't correct
Airport customs/immigration is much different from a land border. Australia is surrounded by water making it much more difficult for illegal immigration (though not impossible). Lump summing all borders as the same doesn't make sense.
I am so proud of my fellow Canadians. I am so not surprised to see older people with so many different types of products. Maybe its a cultural thing that our older generation carry so much creams, lotions and potions. I am glad they kept cool and just continued to enjoy their trip around the world. You need to be between the ages of 20-35 with a job offer and if you’re outside that age range, you have ridiculously high income requirements and have to demonstrate you’re doing a niche job/specialized career like research. It’s not very easy to get a work visa in Australia at all. And definitely not for the average person.

We contemplated retiring there, but my husband is Mexican, and that was a firm “NO”, but even if that were not an issue, they wanted us to have a minimum of $500,000 in the bank. I totally understand. They don’t want a bunch of indigent oldies using the healthcare. England is struggling now with that issue. NHS is broken because of the floods of EU folks. Maybe I’ll visit.

I have contacted the Home Department multiple times, sending emails and calling their helpline to report immigration and fake sponsorship frauds carried out by Australian citizens of Indian origin. However, they never responded to my efforts, which is extremely disappointing.

Why aren’t they allowed to have sealed and commercially prepared mayonnaise on the oil rig? That makes no sense to me. I understand the risk that bird products poses, but commercially prepared Hellmann’s mayonnaise seems like it wouldn’t carry that risk.

Australian leaders, their staff, and other officers seem completely ineffective. I have contacted the Home Department multiple times, sending emails and calling their helpline to report immigration and fake sponsorship frauds carried out by Australian citizens of Indian origin. However, they never responded to my efforts, which is extremely disappointing.
